While on family vacation, my family and I were looking to grab some ice cream downtown Plymouth and walk around. Being from Plymouth originally, I always remember the two best places to get ice cream were peaceful meadows and Ziggys downtown. We headed to peaceful Meadows first, and sadly it has now closed, however, Another ice cream place had taken its place, but it was closed for some maintenance issue. No thank you! We decided we would keep walking. We figured you would we would just head to Ziggy's. However, we were pleasantly surprised to see a new place called Kilwins. My sister and I had gotten ice cream there before when we were on vacation in Newport and we loved it. We love homemade ice cream. Who doesn't? We were looking to spoil my four-year-old with an ice cream cone of choice. They do not have soft serve as that is usually my favorite, so my son ordered vanilla with rainbow sprinkles. My mother-in-law got a root beer float. My sister got some chocolate truffles. We got a little bit of everything. My sister also tried their fresh squeezed lemonade. Overall, the quality of what you get is great, the ease and convenience of getting there and getting your ice cream right away is great. The prices are fair and reasonable even for downtown Plymouth. I think there are a few chairs to sit in an a bench outside if you want to stay there, but I guess the idea is more of a grab and go situation. You can park on the street in metered parking or in village Landing parking lot and walk. Overall, we had a great experience and I would come back here again. The only comment I would make would be the ice cream is a little bit difficult to see and so is the menu. You kinda have to hover over the ice cream to look at what you're ordering. read more

Over Labor Day weekend, I had an odd experience at Kilwin's. On Saturday, I visited the store because I really love their fudge. The store was extremely busy, but the customer service was excellent. I went back again on Sunday (yes I I really love their fudge) and to my surprise, it was not busy at all. When I walked in, another customer was just finishing up their order and leaving. There were several employees working, and I stood there waiting to be greeted and asked for my order. Instead, they glanced at me and continued chatting, including the same person who had taken my order the day before. She looked directly at me, then went right back to her conversation. It wasn't as though I was browsing or hesitating. I knew exactly what I wanted. After waiting a few minutes without acknowledgment, I walked out. I truly don't want to assume this had anything to do with the color of my skin. What I think may have happened is that on Saturday, perhaps the owner or a manager was present, and the staff were on their best behavior. Sunday, however, felt very different. I left perplexed and disappointed by the lack of customer service, and unfortunately, I will not be returning. read more

You can go to dairy twist in Pembroke and get several scoops for less than 8 bucks and it blows this place out of the water. Kilwins by far has the best ice cream downtown!! its not cheap but its not overly expensive either, definitely costs less than ziggies-- and you get more ice cream in a small than they give! the employees are all super sweet and very attentive! omg and the smell when you walk inside is unreal, especially when they are making their fresh waffle cones! read more

After finding Ziggy's closed early, I headed to Kilwins in Plymouth around 8:50 p.m. on a Friday night, thinking surely this spot would be open, especially since their posted hours say 9:00 p.m. To my disappointment, the shop was dark, doors locked, and no one in sight. Not a single sign, message, or explanation -- just closed well before the time listed. I've visited Kilwins in Lexington, Kentucky years ago and had a wonderful experience, so I was genuinely excited to have it again here in Plymouth. But this was incredibly frustrating, and apparently part of a larger pattern in Plymouth, where ice cream shops can't seem to stick to their own hours. When a business posts hours, customers plan around them. Closing early without notice shows a lack of respect for your patrons' time and enthusiasm. Very disappointing. read more

Everything from the kind staff to the impressive options for ice cream and chocolates makes this place a 10/10 for me and my family. There was also just a fun vibe throughout the whole shop which felt very genuine. We got some different ice creams and some chocolates to take home. The kids and I loved it. I'm more than happy to invest in quality goods from here any time of the year. I much rather my money goes to a place like Kilwin's where the sweets are carefully crafted with love versus any standard candy shop. Now we're going to make it a family tradition to stop here for ice cream on our daytrips to Plymouth! read more

If you've been a Kilwins before, you'll know it's premium/expensive chocolate, so that's to be expected. They also have ice cream you can buy by the scoop that was pretty popular. As I was looking at the fudge counter, I inquired about a flavor I didn't know, and the man at the counter gave me a small sample. I didn't end up getting that, but I appreciate the good customer service. We did end up getting a chocolate covered marshmallow that tasted amazing but was pretty pricey. If you're looking for a really nice gift for someone or to splurge on quality, this is great for that. Just be prepared that with the quality will come a higher than other chocolate stores bill. read more

We read the reviews and thought we would check this place out- what a disappointment. I witnessed the staff berating a few kids who had come in for ice cream while the stores internet was down so their payment (apple pay wasn't working), did not go through, not sure how that was resolved but I felt badly for the children. Really unprofessional. The space was also unclean (litter and spills all over) and there was a strong odor- like garbage or restroom overflow. My family left and decided to go to one of the other ice cream places nearby (there are lots given that it is in a busy touristy area). Do not recommend. read more

They add real caramel to their caramel swirl ice cream. But there's also the New Orleans praline caramel ice cream with glazed pecans. The caramel is delicious. I don't even need glazed pecans. There's also chocolates, and caramel apples, fudge, coffee, etc. read more

You can't get any better than Kilwins! The menu items are out of this world delicious- across the board. It gets crazy busy in the warmer months, but the staff is super speedy and always paying attention to what everyone needs. The shop is full of adorable decorations and the windows/lighting gives it the perfect waterfront feel. Will always come here for desserts!! read more

It's all about the ice cream for me, and sad to say, Kilwin's is far superior to other Plymouth ice cream stores. Sad, because at one time, you could get farm fresh, heavy cream ice cream at several spots around town. Now, they all (except for Kilwins) use the same regional producer: good, but not great quality. If you're not too picky you can save a little at the other places but, for me, it's Kilwins. They also make their own classic fudge... but I'm motivated by their relationship e cream. read more

The Orleans Caramel Pralines Ice cream haunts me. I think about it when I eat other ice cream and I hate myself for wasting calories. Their toffee and caramel treats are unlike any Heath or Skor bar. I only fault myself for getting one of each rather than a pound each. They don't serve ice cream... it can't be. The richness and creaminess is unlike normal ice cream. Im afraid to ask the ingredients for fear of losing plausible deniability of ingesting some illegal substance for which I'm now addicted. I love you and hate Kilwins for entering my life. read more

Low carb (diabetes-friendly and keto-friendly) chocolate that tastes exactly like regular chocolate? Heck yeah. I got peanut clusters - milk and white chocolate - and they were soooo good. My husband can taste fake sugar from a mile away, and he also said they taste like regular chocolate. 2 grams of net carbs for 3 peanut clusters. The packaging is really nice too - a high end experience. This is my new COVID treat, when I want a drive to get out of the house, but still need to keep my blood sugar in range. Recently I visited the new Kilwin's store in Plymouth right by the harbor. Great experience all around! When you walk into the shop, the first thing you'll notice is how delicious it smells! Sugar, butter and chocolate, you can't go wrong. I'm sort of a fudge snob, and every summer when I go to the Cape, I always stop by certain places to get my fudge. Kilwins nails it, it's fresh, creamy and made right in store on a beautiful marble table and you can see the action through their window. Quite fun to watch! But they don't just have fudge, they have over 30 flavors of ice cream to choose from, I do like my ice cream simple, like the chocolate chip, but I have to say the Apple Pie ice cream is delicious, I believe it's a seasonal favor, but great for the fall and winter. They also have chocolates, and hand dipped everything, including caramel apples, so good! And their cashew brittle is addictive! The staff is super knowledgeable and helpful. I now need a Kilwin's fix regularly, looks like I'll be driving to Plymouth more than I thought I would! read more

Been here plenty of times and it was great, but when it's bad, it's food poisoning bad. My boyfriend and I went yesterday evening and he has been up all night puking and whatnot. We both know it's from here. We ate the same dinner last night and I am fine. He got the harbor mud flavor (steer clear) and even mentioned it not being very good. Honestly, you're way better off buying cones and ice cream and diy at home. A job is a job, but when you're dealing with food of any kind, the game changes and you have to be careful.
