The customer service is incredible and makes you truly feel comfortable and relaxed. What I love the most is that they do not try to up-sell you on services for monetary gain but instead they truly recommend what is best suitable for you individually. First off, I'd like to say that they were very nice and polite here. No problems there. That being said, since it was my first time here, I'd like to explain why it was probably my last. I came for a wash and trim prior to crochet style. Due to covid and a previous hairstyle, my hair suffered some serious damage so I knew some of it needed to get cut off. When I arrived, the person who was supposed to wash my hair had another client so she asked my crochet stylist to wash and blow dry me instead so that she could trim. No problem. Where did it go left? My stylist decides, at a natural hair salon, to comb out my natural 4c hair with a comb...NOT even wide tooth might I add... prior to having my hair washed. Strike 1. Then, while this was going on, the original person who was supposed to wash my hair put her client under the dryer and therefore ended up able to wash me. She then put me under the dryer to condition and went back to her original client explaining that she'd jump between us to get the job done. No problem. Once she starts her client again, she asks my crochet stylist to wash me out, and blow dry so she can trim. My stylist doesn't know that the rinse should be cool to rinse out the conditioner and was trying to warm up the water for me. I told her cool water was fine. Yes.... this is still at a natural hair salon. Watching the other client get worked on, I noticed products being put in the hair prior to and during blow dry process... I'm guessing leave in and heat protectant... maybe something else too. My turn... my stylist asks which product is the heat protectant to put on my hair... fine. That's the only thing that went on it besides some oil later. No loc method or anything close. I get a blow dry, starting out with a Denman brush that already had hair in it... followed by just using the blow drier with the comb attachment. at the end, my hair was still moist at the roots and not that straight tbh. Strike 2. The other stylist came back to trim me and feeling her comb through my hair for the trim just didn't feel right with the blow dry job but whatever. Got the job done. Finally my crochet style gets done... took awhile and I commend her for that bc the ends had to be twisted after being put in. But bc they weren't twisted right after being placed, they ended up getting matted, and she ended up twisting many wrong strands together which is going to make the removal a mess for me. Strike 3. Overall the style came out ok considering, but I'm not impressed at all. Def not the service I expected. I didn't really feel "cared for" the way I would expect at a natural hair salon which is important to me. Maybe she was a little overwhelmed with the style of crochet after it got tangled? I heard her mention she was still in school so maybe that was it. I just feel like at the prices charged.... which isn't cheap, more is def to be expected. I will say though, that maybe since she was originally just supposed to crochet.... she wasn't aware of the natural hair care steps. And I'll give the benefit of the doubt, but then don't have that person providing that particular service if they're not capable. Watching my service vs the other client def left me disappointed. Maybe it was just my luck but I doubt I'll be back. Too bad, was looking forward to this place since it's closer to home after my other hair lady from Harlem moved.
