Cute hair salon for kids. They have lots of cars and screens to distract the kids. They even give you a certificate with a lock of your child's hair taped onto the certificate if this was your first haircut. They have a good amount of toys. However, I have to point out that this place is pretty dirty. We came on a weekend morning when it first opened and was probably the first few customers and I was surprised to see A LOT of hairs all over the toys. I get it if it was a few cause it is a salon but it was more than I was comfortable with. I don't think these toys are cleaned regularly. read more

I'll start by saying that we've always had good experiences here. My daughter loves her haircut, and she chose to get it straightened. I also take my autistic son since he doesn't like going to the barbershop... the trimmers used here aren't loud. Jen (the owner) has a great sublimation setup, so if moms are looking for that last-minute birthday shirt, you can get one made here or one of the already made ones. Sometimes you get lucky with street parking and sometimes you have to look around, so go a bit early to give yourself time to find parking. read more

I had scheduled an appointment for my 3 year old daughter for a haircut. The employee at the desk approached us and took a look at her hair. My daughter was nervous and began to cry. She immediately told us that we would have to leave if she couldn't calm down. For being a salon for children, I thought that they'd have more experience to work with children of all ages. We were very disappointed with the rudeness of the staff and their lack of patience and chose to leave. I'd also like to mention that the salon was not clean whatsoever. I have been bringing my two children to Kiddy Kutz in Astoria for almost 6 years on a monthly basis, but unfortunately my recent experiences have been extremely disappointing. The level of customer service has declined significantly. During my last 2-3 visits, the staff were rude, unwelcoming, and not accommodating at all. Most recently, I made an appointment and, less than 30 minutes later, had to reschedule due to an unexpected emergency. I rescheduled for the following day, yet I was still charged a $20 cancellation fee. I even called because I was unable to cancel the appointment online and politely asked them to cancel it for me since I wouldn't be able to make it. Instead of understanding that emergencies happen and situations can be unpredictable, the woman on the phone was extremely rude, raised her voice, and spoke to me disrespectfully. After being a loyal customer for six years, this treatment was shocking. Additionally, they recently switched to cash-only payments. While I understand businesses can choose how they operate, requiring cash only in 2026 when everything is digital, including their own appointment system is highly inconvenient. Having to run around to ATMs or banks with children just to pay for a haircut is frustrating and unnecessary, especially when they are strict and inflexible with policies but unwilling to be accommodating toward customers. After years of loyalty, I will not be returning. Customer service and respect matter, and unfortunately that is no longer reflected here. read more

We arrived and was checked in by two associates. It didn't seem too organized as it was Sunday and almost all hairdressers were busy. They have a lot of cars for the haircuts and old toys. Please bring your own as some of them didn't work. I really like how the hairdresser took her time, didn't rush the process and made us feel calm. They had a bunch of screens that worked on some children. I saw others in laps of parents. The only thing is that the quality of the haircut is not what I thought. My appointment is 3:30 and we were there at 3:34, and we were told we couldn't a get haircut. Then we received a cancellation at 3:55 through the email. I went to this salon to take my 2 daughters for a haircut. My little one who is only 2 got her first cut today which was fine. It was very little and you can't tell a difference. My older daughter who is 4.5 years old got a cut as well and it is the worst cut I've ever seen. The person that cut her hair was Jen. I did not notice how bad it was until I left. I did notice it was choppy in the salon but I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. I should have said something there because it's such a bad cut. The other woman (I did not catch her name) was super nice and friendly and blow dried her hair. But after being home and it drying properly did I notice how bad it was. I emphasized keeping it as long as a possible, and it wound up too short, which is fine. My son just got a trim here. I was so afraid they would mess up and ruin the baby bowl haircut I usually get at rockin locks. Patricia was the absolute sweetest and she did an amazing job trimming his hair and promising me not to use the razor on him. His haircut looks the same as his usual and it was half the price of the other place and much closer to me. The car selections for him to sit in were awesome too. My son was mesmerized. They were also really sweet and accommodating. I accidentally booked a girls wash, cut, and blow which was $40 and they advised me the person I booked with only do girls cut as well. They kindly squeezed my son in and only charged me $20 for the boys cut. I love this place. They do need a better selection of boys toys though. Maybe I'll just drop off some of my son's toys because he has too many anyway. Lol read more

Ohhhhhh, this place was so great! We took our 16 month old there for his first haircut. He loved sitting in the car chair, and he giggled and smiled the whole time. Jen knows what she is doing. She is prepared with all sorts of music and shows and fun toys. On top of that, she gave our kid a FANTASTIC haircut. She patiently talked us through as we decided what we wanted. She maneuvered the clippers and scissors so carefully as our baby moved all about. And he ended up looking so good! They said walk ins were welcomed and were very friendly when I arrived. I do feel like the woman was quick and I did have to point some areas she left uncut. I just had my son's first haircut in this place and I am very dissapointed with the result. He have a very long straight hair and wanted to keep it long but just want to cut a little bit or have it trim. I show some pictures and she told me its not going to work because my son's hair is straight so she showed me a picture that will work for my son. I agreed to it thinking that my son is getting the same haircut the as what she showed me in the picture. The result dissapoint me a lot coz its not what I expected and his hair close to his ears in the left side is short then the right side is long and the front hair is uneven, even in the back. This style is weird and I am so upset about it. Don't get me wrong. Shes a nice person but the service that she provide didn't exceed my expectations. What a wonderful experience! We made an appointment today for my son's first haircut! Scheduling is super easy and done through their website. We experienced a minor inconvenience at first as the stylist had an emergency and we were seen past our appointment time (and we were really pushing it with our nap time lol) but it all worked out and was worth the wait! Jennifer cut my son's hair and made the experience super fun and memorable for us and our son. She asked us what song/cartoon we want to put on TV. Each seat has a mini TV in front of it. There are different themed seats for both boys and girls. She went over our options for a haircut with us and understood what we wanted. She took her time and was patient with our son and surprisingly there were no tears! He loved the experience and Jennifer! She printed a super cute certificate for us at the end and taped a piece of his hair to it. She even saved two sets of curls and we purchased a small jar for an extra $5 to put one curl in the jar. He left with all smiles and a balloon as well! The salon is so bright, colorful, and kid friendly. There are many toys to play with while waiting and also while getting a cut. This is an awesome place for your kid to have a haircut. The place is so colorful and nicely decorated. My son always wants to come inside even when we are just passing by. Made an appointment and was early. When we walked in a lady was sweeping the floor. Did not acknowledge us at all. I had to say excuse me we are here early for our appointment. She brought another lady out from the back. I explained we are early and she said it doesn't matter we needed to wait for our time as they are going to lunch. She said she will bill us if we cancel no choice. Very rude behavior. She said they sent us a text which I didn't get. She said no need to get an attitude when simply I said I didn't get a text and we were not going to be able to stay until the appointment time. My daughter was so excited for her first haircut and we already had a bad experience walking in. Don't recommend this hostile environment with no customer service skills. If I could give ZERO stars for this place I would, I took my toddler here to get a hair cut and the stylist literally chopped off his hair. I showed her two pictures for reference and she even said 'okay so trim'. That way he wouldn't lose his curls, but just have them shorter. What she gave my toddler, was not a TRIM. See for yourself, if this a trim you obviously never cut someone's hair before. She literally chopped his hair off. When I complained, someone from the staff asked me why my husband who was sitting watching our son's hair getting cut didn't say anything, well you expect him to say something after the hair has already been CHOPPED OFF?? Was the stylist planning on keeping part of his hair chopped and the other half long? What a ridiculous and unprofessional way to respond to a customer when clearly your employee is in the wrong. Thanks so much for ruining my child's hair. Stay away from this place and if you go, just know you've been warned. We've taken our son to Kiddy Kutz quiet a few times now & I must say it's hands down the best place to get a kid's hair cut. About two or three times we've had to take him to a different spot do to convince & there was no comparison. I don't see us taking him anywhere else again. The place is clean, has plenty of stuff to entertain a child if there is a wait... The staff is phenomenal. They are caring & know how to cut hair. We are her usual clients and have been quite a few times. However, this time was not so pleasant. My daughter had a 5:30pm appt. We were there at 5 pm...waited for 30 minutes for our appt. Then one of the owner's friends walks in at 5:30 with her child... She truly takes her friend ahead of my daughter. I do not think that it is morally right to take your friend and leave my daughter waiting more. And, the owner's attitude and tone are horrible... telling my husband that "if he doesn't like it, he can go somewhere it."
