Thank god for Kim! I had a difficult time finding a dress for a formal event that I was attending. I found what looked like the perfect dress and ordered it online. I am a size 4-6 which usually means a small. However, Nordstrom didn't provide a size chart and when my dress came, there was no way it was going to zip past my bra strap area. I frantically ordered a second dress in a medium. I held my breath and it thankfully zipped up. But the dress was a good two inches too long, even with three inch heels on! The clock was ticking. I called around to multiple tailors and seamstresses. None could possibly have this dress hemmed for me as quickly as I needed. Now, I'm clumsy. I trip over air. Add a few drinks and it can be interesting. Now add a dress that is two inches too long (or try walking in super high heels) and we are talking disastrous! But Kim came through for me. Let me give my background story, I'm incredibly short. I'm 4'11 with a short torso, short shoulders with decent hips AND I was getting married. I found a wonderful dress for my wedding, but my original idea of a tailor fell through and I'm kinda of researching (well more like scrambling), for a seamstress who can alter my wedding dress. I found great reviews for Kim's Alterations and I was scraping for time at this point. I was a bit nervous because I've personally haven't gotten anything altered, let alone a wedding dress and it was a month before the wedding - really pushing it on time. Honestly, I don't regret my choice and so happy I found Kim's! She was reasonably priced, surprisingly quick, and flexible. She was friendly and her work really shows her years of expertise! My dress too was no walk in the park. It has embroidered lace appliques, lots of layers, and a LONG train (Mori Lee Blu 5370) . Due to my short height, she warned me she'll have to cut a lot of material out and she'll try her best to save the appliques designs. I trusted her and she proved her word. My dress was perfect as if it was made for me. It was flattering and she saved the embroidered lace appliques, to the point it doesn't even look altered, just a shrunk up version of the original (in a good way, of course). Long story short: 1 month before the wedding and 3 alterations sessions later (with shoulders shortened, dressed hem, bustled, cups added, and a belt added) it was perfect! She did so wonderful that I left a great tip! It was so worth it! She did such a fantastic job that I even recommended her to my maid of honor and my mother, who like me, are short. She still proved to a fabulous seamstress! I definitely recommend her and I hope my review was helpful for those who are struggling to find alterations and crunching on time. I brought my dress in a week and two days before the wedding (oops) but was able to pick it up exactly a week later! She hemmed the bottom of the dress and replaced the cups with something smoother and better supporting. I should've asked her to take in the bottom in a little bit more since I ended up tripping on it a little at times but that was my mistake. When asked about ironing the cups since they were squished during shipping, she offered to switch them out but wasn't pushy about selling me an extra service! Kim did an excellent job on the bridesmaid dress I had. The bridal store ordered a size 12 for me (I understand they run small-- but geesh I am only 135lbs).. and there was a lot of alterations to be made. First, the dress was extremely unique especially at the top! Kim altered the breast area, off the shoulder strap (which was ornate), both sides of the dress to contour and fit my curves, my midsection, and the length. Although I am donating the dress for another woman to enjoy it for a special occasion, I will say that after Kim altered it I felt more confident and even sexy; whereas I once felt like a huge heifer in a potato sack! I previously dropped off 8 curtain panel at 9' long to hem and steam & was charged $90 ($10 each). I then had 2 more curtain panels to hem and steam which she now charged me $15 for each and when I got home I realized they weren't steamed like I asked. I thought maybe she slightly increased the price due to Covid so I didn't argue when she told me it's $15 for each but I had to call to ask why they weren't steamed. She told me she never charged only $10 a panel (LIES) and would never include steaming in that price (ANOTHER LIE) so if I want them steamed it'll be another $10 per panel!!!! Absolutely will not be returning to someone who is this shady. I fully respect business costs but do not ever lie to a customer who remembers and has proof. I would have been understanding if she apologized and offered to steam them but the fact she tried to again charge even more was completely dishonorable. read more

I sent a Yelp message to Kim midway through the week to see if she would have time to alter it by Saturday, and she wrote right back encouraging us to bring the dress in. I needed the dress done within the week and the timing was no issue. I Told her that they wasn't take in as much as I like.
