So, I needed 2 pair of pants hemmed and I've been putting it off forever. I shoved them in the back of my closet, and it was finally time to get them taken care of. (primarily because I needed them, so that was a motivating factor.) I was recommended to try this place out from my local dry cleaners, and boy, was this a great recommendation! For starters, they have really awesome hours. Their open Monday through Friday 10 am until 7 PM, and Saturdays from 10-6. They also don't require an appointment, which I loved! I was able to swing in here on my way home from work which was easy and convenient. It's located inside the Vince and Joe's shopping center next to Hamlin Pub, so it's relatively easy to find. Walking in, the lobby area is wonderfully decorated and clean. One of the nicest lobbies I think I've ever seen for a tailor/seamstress shop. There were two girls working here and both seemed to know what they were doing One of them had my try my pants on and she made the necessary adjustments to make my pants fit correctly. Surprisingly, they only needed a few days to get my pants done. I dropped them off on a Friday night and I got a text Monday morning saying they were ready? that's a quick turn around. Their prices are competitive, and it's $14 a pair for hemming. Since I had two pair, that's $28. Not to shabby. The other places were charging $15, and some even quoted me up to $20 a pair of pants? UM NO. Overall I was really impressed with the service and overall experience here. While its not close to home, it's easy to find, has great hours and they do good work for alterations. Also, the gal waiting on me said that they were under new ownership. I don't know how long ago that happened, but that's good to know. The reason I found out was because when I checked in here on Yelp, there was a 20% off coupon for first time check ins. She was confused about it and told me the check in was probably from the previous owners. I really loved my time here and their a good place. Will be returning in the future. read more

Brought in an item to get taken in. When we got home, we noticed there were noticeable stitches and bumps in the back of the suit jacket. When we brought it in, the woman working was extremely rude to us, told us it was our fault, and "what was she supposed do about it". She said we cut a loose thread that wasn't connected to anything at all and that's why it looked that way (even though before we asked if it looked like that because it hadn't been dry cleaned). Looking for a reason to say it was us. Encouraged us to lie to the store we purchased from to say it was ruined when we bought it. A ruined brand new suit jacket - with no resolution. read more

I'm very pleased with the amazing customer service we received! My daughter ordered a dress online and unfortunately it arrived a day before our event. The slit on the dress was extremely high and the dress needed to be hemmed. We called with the emergent situation and they were extremely kind and understanding. My daughter rushed there immediately per their request and they performed their magic. They cut off material from the bottom of the dress from the hem and we're able to add 4 inches of material to the slit. We were amazed how quickly they transformed the dress to perfection. The quality of workmanship, reasonable cost, and superb customer service will keep us going back for all our tailoring needs. We are extremely grateful! read more

I just took in my dress for my sons wedding. The receptionist was very informative and friendly. They were able to work with me that very day even though I was not in a rush. The dress had two layers and they did a beautiful job. Due to Covid-19 they all wore masks and had one person at a time scheduled for fitting. This place is amazing and I am far overdue to leave them a review. I had a seamstress who is a friend of the family and whom we love dearly, work on my wedding dress. She'd worked on several of my gowns before and they'd all turned out beautifully. But due to a whirlwind of personal circumstances, I think that she was just overwhelmed. And when I picked up the dress it was a mess. The bust area did not fit right and there was a lot bunching. It was days before the wedding and I didn't know what to do. The Stitch fit me in immediately and within a day had my wedding dress fitting perfectly. I walked in the door in tears and left in good hands. Awful. I've never been so disappointed in my suit alterations and the quality of work. I brought them 4 brand new suits, two Ralph Lauren and two Calvin Klein. When i showed up to try them on the hem came out of one of the pairs of pants. They agreed to fix this for no additional cost but due to their hours i couldn't pick them up for another week. I picked those pants up and they were correct the second time but the inconvenient hours of operation are not for the working man. Today i was walking through my office and the hem came out of another pair of suit pants they did. I wear suits every day and i've never had an issue with other tailors. I'm disgusted at the nearly $200 i had to shell out for this poor quality work. Never again. read more

I went into Stitch after I was recommended to by a co-worker. She was getting ice cream in the same plaza. She said the place looked beautiful and being that I'm in the fashion industry, that stood out, since all alteration places usually look like crap. If you ever walk into a place that's dirty with clothes strewn about all over the place, it's usually a good sign that the back is going to be the same way - no matter how talented a seamstress or tailor is, the lack of organization will probably mean that something will go wrong with the work. So when she said that the Stitch looked beautiful, I got excited. We've been looking for a great place to take our alterations work to. The space is well lit, beautiful, organized, and cozy. But really the people is what really stood out. Heidi greeted us and she was not only extremely professional and responsive leading up to the appointment, but she looked great! It really showed her attention to detail and that's something you can feel in every part of the operation. We went in there to accompany one of our brides who needed to get some final touches to her custom gown. She was not only treated awesome, but so were we. She just picked up her gown yesterday and not only did the work turn out great but we were really impressed with Anne, one of the bridal specialists there, who carefully handled her gown as if it was her own. I highly recommend Stitch! With all the shady alteration places out there, it's refreshing to find a place that we can trust - without having to go out to Chicago. Which btw we would recommend the Dress Doctor at The Water Tower Place. In Michigan, it's the only place I trust. read more

Been here a few times simply for the fact that it's close to my home and I can finally say I will never be back again. Experienced two different employees who are extremely rude and could care less about a "client experience". Unfriendly and never greeted at door, struggled holding door open as I entered with my double stroller as the employee stood there and watched with no one else in the store, and I can go on. Was told they were two weeks out to hem a pair of jeans. Both the front face and the operational aspect of this business are horrible. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

In the past couple of months I have brought a handful of items for shortening and hemming. One item had a zipper that needed to be shortened to bring the length up on the pants leg. They even replaced a zipper in a jacket. All items look as good as new I am very pleased with the quality of work and service. I highly recommend them for your alterations. I was in this alteration shop and was not impressed with the rude, condescending attitude of the store manager. I thought their prices were outrageous, (maybe they need help paying for the chandeliers, fancy furnishings, rent??). I saw some of the sample gowns on the store mannequins, and was not impressed with the workmanship. I also witnessed a customer very upset with her service, so I decided that I did not want to do any business with them. I'll keep using Sue's Alterations where the shop is not glamorous, but I found the workmanship to be outstanding, plus they are nice and reasonably priced. A little farther drive for me, but so worth it. read more

Extremely expensive for average - at best - workmanship. I've had three (3) negative experiences at this place. The first was a pair of pants that were hemmed uneven. When I brought it to the employee's attention she said "they came in that way" Really??? The second experience was with a skirt. I have this super cute MK pull on skirt. The elastic stretched out and I asked for a new elastic piece to be put in. They did that - now the lining hangs from the bottom of the skirt. I didn't even bother asking them to fix it! The last and final mistake. The owner told me they had an expert home accessory seamstress who made beautiful window treatments. We started chatting and I decided to give them a try. I brought in my old stage coach valance and asked them to duplicate it. I brought in my fabric and we were good to go. When I picked up the valance and hung it in my kitchen - the quality of the workmanship is that of a child. The valance is uneven, the side seams are unfinished - overall - AWFUL! So, I called the owner and asked her if she would be able to come to my home to assess what needed to be done - OR if the seamstress could come by and assess this mess...I live 2 miles from the store. She said "NO" just bring it back in...I expressed to her how helpful if would be to her to see the valance as it would be difficult to explain what needed to be fixed. She refused. I WILL NEVER PATRONIZE THIS STORE AGAIN. read more

This store was actually recommended to me, so I wasn't worried about paying a little higher price. I needed a bridesmaid dress altered. It needed to be taken in at the sides and it needed to be shortened. It cost $80. I expected to pick up the dress ready to wear. Little did I know that it cost $25 extra dollars to get it pressed. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time. The wedding was less than a week away! There was also a string still hanging off the back of the dress. The lining was left the exact length of the dress, so when I move, you see the lining. I ended up finding a cleaner who would press the dress for $7. I'll find a better place the next time I need something altered. Paying nearly the cost of the dress just for alterations seems a bit excessive. read more

Positives: They were able to do all the alterations on my wedding dress in about a month with a couple fittings during that time. The woman (Anne) who did my bustle used different colors of ribbon on the underside of my dress, making bustling simply just a matter of tying the matching ribbons together. They did a great job shortening my straps and changing my zipper to a corset. Negatives: 1) Hemming: I took my bridal gown to the shop and my sister's bridesmaid dress. When we went back a week later to pick up my sister's dress and have them pin my bustle, neither of our dresses was short enough. We had to leave them both for another week and even then they were still too long. At my wedding this past weekend, my sister and I were both still unhappy with the length of our dresses. 2) The corset back: The first fitting I went to after they put on the corset back, they didn't include a ribbon with my dress so we could tie the corset up. The ribbon that they did end up giving me the next time was too long and one end of it was all frayed by the time I got to my ceremony (we took some outside pictures beforehand and it must have been dragging on the ground). 3) The panel: When a dress has a corset back, there is supposed to be a panel of fabric inside that sits behind the laces of the corset and covers your back. They forgot to include the panel until my last fitting (they had had my dress for a couple weeks before they finally put a panel in). They didn't attach the panel to the dress (it just slipped in) and at some point during my reception, someone noticed that my back was exposed. Apparently the panel had slipped right out of my dress. A guest found it on the floor with several stains on it from spilled drinks. 4) Price: They charged us $34 to hem my sister's bridesmaid dress, but hemming my bridal gown cost $89. Plus, as I said, they were both still too long anyways. I wouldn't recommend them for hemming, but if you need straps altered, or you need stuff done quickly, they are ok. If you do go there for hemming, you might want to have them pin it a little on the short side. read more

Well day of the wedding almost 5/9 of my bustle button broke in the matter of 10 minutes. When I went to take pictures before my ceremony I sat down and a pin stabbed me in the leg and I bled on the inside of my dress. The needle was left in the dress with the thread. They said everything sticks to my dress which is understandable but you'd think they'd try and get some of the 20 or so ants off of the inside before having me trying it on. My maid of honor didn't tell me until we were in the car because she didn't want me to freak out while my dress was on. We paid almost $400 for alterations and the only thing that worked was the boob cups and the length in the front. So if that's all you need then it's fine. Otherwise find somewhere else. read more

Oh my, I was hoping this was the place for alterations...it is not. The hem of my daughter's bridesmaid dress is uneven. Too long in the front and too short in the back. The dress was taken in too much on top, so that the hook and eye at the top of the zipper broke! The dress was not even pressed when I picked it up. They just ruined 2 expensive jackets. One jacket was supposed to have the cuffs removed and made into straight sleeves. Instead they shortened the sleeves and put the cuffs back on so now I can't have it repaired somewhere else. The other jacket was just supposed to have the sleeves shortened. The material for this jacket is not supposed to be straight stitched so that the stitching shows. The hem of the jacket is blind stitched and that is the way the sleeves were supposed to be done. To make matters worse, the straight stitching was not even straight. When I pointed the problem out, I was told that I did not know what I was talking about. The person at the counter told me that they always follow what was already there. In other words, I was told that I did not know what my own jacket looked like before I took it there. When I mentioned the problem with the cuffs on the other jacket, I was told that they always follow what was already there. When I protested that was not what I asked for, I was told to leave the premises before I made her angry. This young woman should not ever be allowed to speak to customers. read more

I brought in my dress 2 1/2 weeks before my prom so it wouldn't be rushed. The day I was going to pick it up they called me and told me it wasn't finished, they didn't even apologize about it. It took them two weeks to do it, I didn't get my dress until three days before my prom. When it was finally ready, it was horrible! The tulle was sticking out the back of the dress. I'm short so I got about 6 inches cut off and I requested to have straps made from what they cut off. They charged me a ridiculous amount for making the straps when they really ended up cutting off the corset string and used that for straps. The straps were sown on awfully. One strap was crooked and the other was on the wrong way, the seam was on the outside instead of the inside. I will never go back to that place. read more
