He was able to 'lean' against the cows and give them pets (that's how he likes to show affection). It was super muddy but we wore our rubber rain boots so we were good! I recommend dressing for mud, no matter the season or temperature! The animals are all rescued, so they are enjoying their new found freedom and love. One cow was blind, and she stole my heart! They have a variety of other animals- goats, sheep, chickens, etc. We had a wonderful time, and we didn't want to leave, but we were tired and I thought the animals needed a break from my son =D. Visit if you can, or donate to them so they can continue to provide care for these retired and/or rescued animals.

This place is the definition of an instagrammable summer spot! As the name implies, this is a HUGE…read moresunflower field, and the sights are incredible. Nothing beats yellow heads of petals, taller than you are, as far as the eye can see! Well, depending on how tall you are, they either tower over you, or are the size of your peers. There is a nice path through the main field, with plenty of opportunity to snap beautiful photos of yourself, your family and friends, or the flowers themselves. Be prepared to bring rubber boots or closed toed shoes if it has rained recently, as the pathway is in a field of dirt! There is a second side where there are all sorts of photo opp items to see, including my favorite, a bright pink tractor! There's painted boards with cut outs for your face, and lots of farm equipment dispersed throughout. You can grab food from the multiple food trucks/stands on the property, sit and eat under their many large tents with tables and benches. There are the typical trinkets and toys for kids to purchase, and they have a big mining setup, which my kid absolutely adores. He spent over 20 minutes just playing with the water! There are other activities throughout the season but we didn't check them out, we opted for a quieter trip where we could walk, and the crowd was smaller. It does get crowded, so plan accordingly! If you have children who can't walk too far, bring a wagon or stroller, but make sure it has big, rugged wheels! And of course, you can choose to cut your own flowers in the cutting field, or you can grab a pre-cut bouquet if you prefer. Also, you can feel free to dry the seeds from the flowers you purchase, and plant them next year- keeping a sunflower patch in perpetuity from just one trip- but that's the gardener in me giving advice. I personally grow a variety of sunflowers in my garden every year, but always enjoy coming to this place to see the majesty of all these flowers in one spot. This is a must do in the summer, at least once!

I have driven by year after year and thought I really need to check it out . One year (maybe more ? )they were not there for the season and I was saddened , so when I saw them open , I made a point to get there . Upon entering you will see many blow up bounce houses. Sadly, the big tiger you can see from the road is "retired" but , man he is cool ! There is also a little track for kids to be able to drive kid cars around . I would say this is great for probably the 4-5 year olds , but flexible. There are many tables set up for "pumpkin tic tac toe" . I thought it was an adorable idea. There are food huts/vendors set up with the typical carnival offerings of kettle corn, cotton candy , soft pretzels etc. What I found fun , is that there is a whole second area that you have to walk a short way through a corn maze to get to . I had no idea it existed ! Here is where you will find some more great bounce attractions and game areas , blow up slides and even a kids zipline attraction . So much fun. My 2 1/2 yr old grandson had such a great time . I recommend this for the little ones , especially 2-6ish years old . You will have a great time watching them have a great time . Lastly , we paid I believe $12 for an armband(did not have to pay for adult bands) which allowed for all day access to all of the bounce houses, we also were able to get a mini pumpkin included in that price . It was well worth the price ! I believe you can purchase individual tickets , but much more cost effective to get the all day bracelet. Just a few notes on the Corn MAiZE - The MAiZE is segmented into three sections - Easy, Medium, and Hard. Be forewarned, I was stuck in the Medium section for 45 minutes. - Vendors: Kettle Corn and Beverages are available for purchase - There's a large MAP of the MAiZE posted at each entry. If you're inclined to cheat, do so willingly. - "Corn Cops" are strategically located within each MAiZE. If getting becomes boring, simply ask a Corn Cop for directions on how to get out! - WEAR BOOTS! The Corn Field is known to get extremely muddy. Sadly, my white Pumas did NOT survive the evening. - Time spent finding your way out of the 3 MAiZEs can vary between 30 minutes to never! - If you're afraid of the dark, the MAiZE is NOT for you. - The last MAiZE is the most difficult. My party and I simply gave up when we exited at the entrance. Simply put, the MAiZE is a great time to be had with a bunch of friends. Nothing beats getting lost in a Corn Field with 6 of your closest friends on an Autumn evening.

It was warm, starting to get dark, and lucky for us very dry (in the past it's been a little muddy so I always recommend boots to be safe). This year's theme for the corn maze was Niagara Falls! If it's your first time - I recommend bringing a flashlight, hoodie, and a few extra dollars for snacks/drinks. Also boots or good walking shoes that you won't mind if they get a little muddy. It was dry this time but in the past it has been a little muddy in spots. Before entering the maze, we stopped at the snack shop. They had cookies from a local bakery, popcorn, kettle corn, pop, coffee, water, and some food. We got the sea salt caramel chocolate cookies which were amazing!! All the prices were reasonable too! Then we went over to pet the animals! They had two cows, an alpaca , and two goats (one was a baby goat, so cute!). They also sold cups of feed for the animals ($1). To get through the entire maze took us about 45 minutes but that was with us basically moving the whole time and not coming across too many dead ends. The admission is normally $10/adult but we bought the Groupon so we got half off. Highly recommend checking out the maze! We'll be coming back next year for sure!

The entire staff is top tier; they pay attention to detail and make sure everything is perfect for your big day. The owners are the sweetest and purest people I've met. Marilyn and her daughter-in-law Mary made the process easy as heck for us. Sarah and Lisa were our day of coordinators and they were beyond amazing all day and night. They're all genuine people who love love, as most people do. If I could get married here every year, I would do it in a heartbeat. Everything I was looking for in fall activities!!…read more I came across this place on Yelp, through suggestions of friends looking for a place to pick pumpkins straight from the patch. It's one of the activities I enjoy doing most in the fall, and have grown disappointed with other farms as the years went by and their popularity skyrocketed. This place is fairly under the radar - a bit of a drive even past the attractions in Clarence, but I've grown to love Akron lately and so I (of course) didn't mind making the journey. In fact, I loved this place so much that I brought my family back here the very next day. Akron Acres is a part of the Kelkenberg farm family. I haven't been to their namesake farm, but if it's anything like Akron Acres I'm sure I would have an absolutely amazing time. Activities here during their fall season included a hayride out to the pumpkin patch, corn maze, and things like pony rides for the kids. The hayride is $12 and you're allowed to pick any pumpkin you want from the patch (even the biggest one you can't carry) - they also had combo ticket prices if you wanted to participate in some of the other activities here. Sadly we went during a wet and rainy weekend, so I had to miss out on the corn maze BUT the farm animals 10000% made up for my FOMO. Oh yes, there are dozens of farm animals roaming about! Most notably, we saw ponies, a large draft horse (not sure what breed they are? but they are HUGE), pigs, sheep, turkeys, chickens, and of course GOATS. There were also BABY GOATS and they were absolutely ADORABLE, one of them tried to eat my clothes. Made my life complete. You can also buy an assortment of other things while you're here, not just tickets for fun activities! They sell pumpkins and gourds if you don't feel like going out to the patch - they also have Indian corn and corn stalks, hay, among other things. There's a food stand that sells kettle corn, maple cotton candy, and candy apples. You can also shop a super cute country store here, with all sorts of goodies - I ended up buying a delicious smelling candle that they were burning in the store while I was there. Needless to say, there's a ton of really fun things to do while you're here, both for kids and adults. It's a bit less well known than some of the other pumpkin places in WNY, which is why I ended up liking it so much. Both days we went, it was pleasantly busy but not overly crowded. There is also "The Gathering Barn," which is where weddings are hosted - and from the pictures I've seen online, it sounds beautiful! All in all, we had such an amazing experience here that we're going to be back in November for their Christmas trees! Can't wait to return!!

We met these majestic llamas at a summer vendor event, and were pleasantly surprised to find the animals to be very tame, so eager to engage with us. Folks can celebrate their special events on the llama farm. When attending a wedding, llamas are outfitted with tuxedos! Definitely going to plan a day for field trip with our grandchildren this summer!

The setting is picturesque, with all of the animals really meshing well together and thriving, knowing this is their home but welcoming you along and inviting you in. The geese and such reminded me of cute little guards, protecting their furry friends (but not in an aggressive way ...). The cat was super friendly and wants to rub your leg and be pet but is always on the move. Its fur is super soft! The llamas were awesome and their owner, who took us on our hike, was very informative and willing to answer questions. He was very proud of his llamas and happy to show us pictures of them winning shows at the Erie county fair and such. They are really beautiful and sure clean up nice for their shows but they sure have some stinky breath! It's totally worth it though! The owner will let you pick the llama although I think all of the llamas we walk are male and the girls stay behind. It's kind of funny to see the boys and girls acknowledge eachother and get a little animated when they catch eachother eyes. Walking them on the hike is a real treat. I had the biggest llama, Snowman, and just like when I go horseback riding and get the biggest horse from experience, Snowman loved to eat the whole way and let the other llamas know he is the boss! But he wasn't mean or anything and he made these cute little noises that I interpreted as happy noises and I just loved my time with him so much! He wasn't mean a good boy and very sweet to me. His ears would turn down when other llamas got in his personal space or he got in theirs and wanted them to move lol. A little huff and he let them know he was in charge. He was like a gentle giant and totally majestic. I would totally take him for my hike again. Watching my llama eat was so cute too! I realized I had never seen one eat and Snowman just looked like a big shaggy dog grazing. Super cute! I appreciate him posing for photos with me too! And my friend Danielle's llama was nuzzling in her neck during the hike. So so sweet! We were allowed ample time to bond with our llamas before and after the hike. It never felt rushed and the experience felt very full and complete. Just thinking of the experience instantly makes me smile and I have so many photos and a video of my llama and it is instant joy. I cannot recommend this enough! You can also adopt a llama, have a field trip, hold a special event, etc. here. Absolutely wonderful and flawless experience.

Last weekend we attended the Lewiston Garden Festival. It was there that we met Eastern Monarch…read moreButterfly Farm. They had a booth that was an instant attraction for our kids. Included in their set-up was a screen room full of big, beautiful monarchs, feasting on their fave milkweed. There was also a small net enclosure on their counter with a big, fat colorful caterpillar inside. Caterpillars are the only bug I wish I could snuggle with--this guy was just TOO CHUBBY AND CUTE! But I digress. :-P The booth was manned by Eastern Monarch's staff (maybe the owners?), who could not have been friendlier and more engaging for our kids. They shared with us interesting info about monarchs, their flight path, what they like to eat, and the importance of propagating monarch-attracting indigenous plants in our area. Our son asked what the "brown dots" were in the caterpillar enclosure, and we also learned that caterpillar poop is called frass. So that was a fun fact for our ten-year old son! :-D For sale were mature and healthy milkweeds that were planted in eco-friendly self-composting containers. It was Father's Day, my dad has a nice garden, these butterfly people were way cool, so I purchased one of the plants for my dad's yard. For $20, it was a solid investment and a little bit of support for this lovely eco-forward local business. When we got the plant home, my dad LOVED it, and can't wait to bring more monarchs to Cheektowaga! :-D If you check out Eastern Monarch Farm's website, you will see that they are very involved in the community, and offer a variety of outreach programs for youth and more. We ended up doing the regular hay ride and our tour guide Jeff went above and beyond he showed us all around the farm stopped at each attraction telling us the history of the farm! When the ride was over he was waiting with a smile to help us off the hay wagon. We were then introduced to farmer jim who I guess is a local legend around town. We ended the day with the corn maze it was small but cute we will definitely be back to see Jeff again next year!!!!!

As I was pursuing the tools to find the best looking one, a staff member came over to make sure I knew which rolls were which flavors and that I found what I was looking for. The rolls were being freshly frosted when I arrived. The worker noticed the lemon blueberry had some if the frosting melting off since they were still warm so she offered to freshly frost me one that wasn't quite as warm so the frosting wouldn't melt. This monster of a cinnamon roll was about the size of my lap and rang in at $10.50. The swirls of the roll were loaded with fresh blueberries and a hint of lemon flavor. I want to say I saw lemon zest in there too. I could have used a little more lemon for my personal tadte, but it was still delicious! I can't wait to stop in to try a different specialty roll one of these days. They also sell fresh baked bread and stromboli, garlic, olive oils & vinegars, dips, sauces and more!

Was going for a ride in Northern Niagara County, up Rte 425, and came across this store. The best thing about this store now is that they offer tasting samples, which are lacking in many places since Covid. Being able to taste their offerings caused me to buy much more than I ever thought I would when I walked in. So many great things to taste - warm bread, oils/vinegars, dips/spreads. Everything I tasted was excellent! There were also fresh pies and amazing looking cheesecakes, which I've heard taste as good as they look. Single pieces are available along with entire cakes. Also, a variety of pastas. I couldn't buy everything, but what I did purchase, and it was a lot, is all worthy of 5 stars. They also have a smaller shop in the Olcott Shops. Not sure what is carried there since those shops are small.
