The customer service was phenomenal and the pizza was the best I've had in the area 10/10 recommend!

After a bad review, the owner messaged me saying he never believed I had entered his place of business.

Would not recommend. Although the fruit and veggies are good, the customer service and the owners are completely terrible. Every time I come here, i'm given the cold shower. I have emailed the owner multiple times for various reasons over the past 2 years, with no response. I will go to Tom Towers down the street. UPDATE: Just received a message from the owner, who has told me he believes I have never been to his business. Because sitting around, wasting my time writing bad Yelp reviews is something I like to do in my free time.

My pizza got home hot and tasty. My kids got a kick that I really used the carrier. Thanks for the great Pizza to carry it in. Rick "ZAC" Z

My pizza got home hot and tasty. My kids got a kick that I really used the carrier. Thanks for the great Pizza to carry it in. If your looking for really good Pizza try Sanger Farm's. The best kept secret in the area. And there is a lot of other goodies to enjoy there too. The pies are to die for. Stop in for Great Breakfast, Lunch menu. They did a nice job of making the place cozy. Stop in and see for yourself. You won't leave empty handed. Rick "ZAC" Zachary

I should start this review with the fact that I will be back. We stopped by on whim when we were driving through the area, overall I am glad I did. First off this place is cute and homey, I liked the vibe of the place. The first thing I noticed upon entering the door were butter tarts, glorious butter tarts! This may not seem like a big deal, but butter tarts are my 3rd favorite food and I have only seen them at 2 other places outside of Canada. If you are the average American and have no idea what a butter tart is, google it or just know that it is bite sized heaven. Back to the review. We picked up some butter tarts, cider, cookies, drinks and some other delicious dessert item. Prices were reasonable. The two people working the store were super friendly and told us that next time we were in town we should try the restaurant, also in the building. So with all of this positive, why the 3 star review? Unfortunately, 2 of my tarts were "off", one of them was a little to chewy and the other had a flavor reminiscent of mold. Is this acceptable? No. Will I go back? Yes. I went on a random day in early April, it isn't tourist season yet and Youngstown can be a sleepy town this time of year. Accidents happen, I am willing to overlook that. The remaining tarts I had were really good, on par with a lot of Canadian places I frequent. I loved that they had frozen cider, it too was delicious. The unnamed dessert(it almost looked like an upside down tart, it had apple and icing and I think some maple, but I could be wrong on that) was amazing, I might make a trip out just for those. All in all I am excited to visit again during tourist season.

I wanted a different place to go Apple picking this year. The place I normally visit doesn't have much else going on there beside Apple picking. This place was listed on the NYS apple growers website. They listed a cafe, hay rides and hiking trails. We got there around 9am and had a nice breakfast in the little cafe. Everything was homemade and delicious. There aren't a ton of menu options but they seem ok with special ordering. The little shop was quaint, with baked goods and other things, but not super big. We asked how to go about Apple picking and they gave us a bushel and told us where to go. We walked out to the orchards and found rows and rows of what looked like abandoned orchards. There were no cleared paths between rows, just overgrown brush. We walked down row after row and around the entire perimeter...not one Apple. We walked back empty-handed and totally disappointed. How could they possibly not know there were NO apples? How could they send us out there like they had no idea? We told them when we got back and the poor teenage girl at the counter tried to act like she had no idea, but clearly did. We left and stopped at a farm stand down the road. We asked if we were late in the season and they told us, "oh no- it's the height of Apple season!" Apparently the adult children of the owner of Sanger Farms don't keep up the orchard very well and really let it go. Too bad. It has a lot of potential to be a great fall destination.

I often go there for lunch for some of their fresh sandwiches and salads, or I'll often stop by on the way home from work with some locally grown fruit/vegetables. All of Niagara's finest farmed products on out and on display. The Harvest Barn is a great alternative to fast food lunchtime ventures. The food tastes great and you feel healthy after eating - what a concept! The Harvest Barn also serves as a great alternative to the supersized Mega-grocery stores which are all too commonly found in suburban cities across North America (which also tend to import their produce from all over instead of fresh, locally grown food). Outside they have picnic tables if you feel like enjoying the sunshine, and also a small kids play area (ie. small wooden train) which is great for distracting the little rascals or hyperactive adults. They also have Fruit Baskets, Deli Trays, and Sandwich Platters. I've never had the pleasure of having any, but I wouldn't hesitate in ordering seeing as everything else I've tried has been pretty fantastic. The bottom line, I highly recommend the Harvest Barn because it's healthy, locally grown food and they take pride in the quality of service that they provide (and it shows).

From the moment we arrived, not a single employee greeted us or provided any direction. In fact, another parent who happened to be there with her daughter was the only person who offered any assistance. I initially thought she worked there because she was the only person helping us. Thank goodness she was there, because without her, things would have gone even worse. The party was originally booked to be held outdoors, weather permitting. Since rain was in the forecast, I proactively contacted the owner beforehand to confirm there was a backup plan. On the day of the party, however, the weather turned out to be beautiful--sunny with some wind, but overall a gorgeous day. When we arrived, we were directed into a barn that was in very rough condition. The owners knew we were expecting approximately 50 guests, yet there was no way that many people could have comfortably fit in the space provided. Since no staff member was communicating with us, I called the owner myself and asked if we could move the party outdoors. She explained that the tent couldn't be set up due to high winds, which I completely understood. She then told us a staff member would walk us to the outdoor area so we could see the alternative setup. This was about 10 minutes before guests were scheduled to arrive. When we got outside, it was obvious the space had not been prepared. There were bicycles and miscellaneous items scattered around, no garbage cans, and three employees were hurriedly wiping down tables while guests were already arriving. It felt as though no one had planned for us to use the space at all, despite that being where we had originally booked the party. To make matters worse, one of the owners casually told us, "If you need anything, I'll be in the woods through that path," and disappeared. No one explained the schedule, the activities, or what to expect. There was supposed to be a tour included, and I had to track someone down to ask about it. We later learned that the owners didn't even inform staff about our party until midnight the night before. The employee assigned to lead the tour appeared understandably frustrated because she had only been told about it roughly 20 minutes before she was expected to conduct it. Thankfully, the kids still had fun, but as the host, I was embarrassed in front of my family and friends. The entire event felt disorganized, unprepared, and poorly managed. The property itself was also concerning. The potholes in the driveway were so severe that my brother's car nearly bottomed out. The grounds were overgrown with weeds, and there was junk scattered throughout the property. Given the cost of hosting events and riding lessons there, it raises the question of where that money is being invested, because it certainly does not appear to be going toward property maintenance or guest experience. To top it all off, after providing virtually no support throughout the event, the owner wanted another parent to take photos of the party for advertising purposes. That request felt incredibly inappropriate given the experience we had. Near the end of the party, one of the owners finally approached us and asked if we needed anything. By that point, we were already packed up and leaving. I booked this party nearly a month in advance and expected a professional, organized experience. Instead, I received the complete opposite. If you are considering booking a birthday party or event here, I would strongly encourage you to reconsider. The children may enjoy the animals and activities, but the lack of preparation, communication, customer service, and overall upkeep made this one of the most disappointing event experiences I've ever had. I cannot recommend Autumn's Gate, and I would not spend my money there again.
