Every year, we try to choose a different place to go apple picking. They do not have medium sizes for you pick. It is either a half bushel for $15 or a small bag that you could probably fit like 8-10 apples in it for $8. I wish they had a medium option. For three families, we went with the half bushel and that was plenty for pies, and apple eating. There weren't many apple varieties to choose from. Honey crisps were discussed many times as if one enters your bushel or bag, you are automatically charged double. The store is nice and has jams, jellies, baked good and apples to purchase. I didn't see any veggies. read more

We stopped for breakfast. Very friendly staff and the breakfast was one of the best we've had on the road. The Sanger scramble with bacon, ham, sautéed pepper and onions and mushrooms was fresh, tasty and delicious!! and the bacon egg and cheese wrap was so good too! Had a great time here. Cute barn like atmosphere. You order and sit down for the food to come out. We sat outside and it was a beautiful day. We took a little walk around the property and there were picnic tables. I had a scramble which was pretty classic and just made me feel right at home. They also had a ton of home made goods like pies and cookies. Will come back and enjoy the atmosphere. read more

We wanted to look for different cider this year instead of Mayer Bros. Yes I have gone to Mayer Bros a few times this year but it is near my house. So I decided to go to Sanger Farms. I have gone to farmer markets and bought their fruit and baked goods, so I wanted to try some place different. Yes there cider is good and we bought a half gallon. But there is so much more to choose from Cookies, pies, tarts, jellies, salsa, etc. They even had a cafe but we didn't try this place as we were full from breakfast. They also have apple picking, but if you are not that adventurous, they do have apples for sale already picked. This was a great place and nice ride to the north. I will be back next year, maybe even try the cafe. read more

Would not recommend. Although the fruit and veggies are good, the customer service and the owners are completely terrible. Every time I come here, i'm given the cold shower. I have emailed the owner multiple times for various reasons over the past 2 years, with no response. I will go to Tom Towers down the street. UPDATE: Just received a message from the owner, who has told me he believes I have never been to his business. Great time apple picking! Their honey crisp apples were so amazing and I don't even like apples all that much. The process was very simple and they explained everything nicely. We bought their apple pies, pumpkin pies, cider and cookies. We only enjoyed the cider and the cookies and were disappointed with the pies. They were too dry. The inside is pretty cute and has a cabin flare to it. However, they were super busy. The cabin is quite small and cannot fit that many people. With that said, most people were jammed inside this tiny area not following COVID guidelines. That's my only concern. read more

Located a short drive from Buffalo, NY towards Lewiston is a local farm market, bakery, and cafe in one! Sanger Farms has been around for over 100 years! I first checked it out at the end of August for peach picking for the first time. These were the LARGEST and JUICIEST peaches I've ever eaten. A nice lady was even cutting fresh peaches outside for their peach pies. Bowls upon bowls.... Wowza! When September came around I knew Dan and I had to return for their apple picking!! With over ten varieties and some of my favorites like Gala apples (crunchy but sweet). It was a fun activity to do on a weekend! We're craving more Sanger Farm Apple goodness, so we're driving out now for round #2 of Apple picking! An "IPM" system is used on the apples which means very LOW chemicals and pesticides are used, which is important when buying apples because they usually have a high amount of pesticides. Sanger Farms also makes their own cider and cider slushes! They offer baked goods like cookies, pies, pie slices, fudge, etc. The cafe area is new with breakfast and lunch options as well. You can buy other produce items that are in season as well and specialty food items like local honey! I should start this review with the fact that I will be back. We stopped by on whim when we were driving through the area, overall I am glad I did. First off this place is cute and homey, I liked the vibe of the place. The first thing I noticed upon entering the door were butter tarts, glorious butter tarts! This may not seem like a big deal, but butter tarts are my 3rd favorite food and I have only seen them at 2 other places outside of Canada. If you are the average American and have no idea what a butter tart is, google it or just know that it is bite sized heaven. Back to the review. We picked up some butter tarts, cider, cookies, drinks and some other delicious dessert item. Prices were reasonable. The two people working the store were super friendly and told us that next time we were in town we should try the restaurant, also in the building. So with all of this positive, why the 3 star review? Unfortunately, 2 of my tarts were "off", one of them was a little to chewy and the other had a flavor reminiscent of mold. Is this acceptable? No. Will I go back? Yes. I went on a random day in early April, it isn't tourist season yet and Youngstown can be a sleepy town this time of year. Accidents happen, I am willing to overlook that. The remaining tarts I had were really good, on par with a lot of Canadian places I frequent. I loved that they had frozen cider, it too was delicious. The unnamed dessert(it almost looked like an upside down tart, it had apple and icing and I think some maple, but I could be wrong on that) was amazing, I might make a trip out just for those. I wanted a different place to go Apple picking this year. The place I normally visit doesn't have much else going on there beside Apple picking. This place was listed on the NYS apple growers website. They listed a cafe, hay rides and hiking trails. We got there around 9am and had a nice breakfast in the little cafe. Everything was homemade and delicious. There aren't a ton of menu options but they seem ok with special ordering. The little shop was quaint, with baked goods and other things, but not super big. We asked how to go about Apple picking and they gave us a bushel and told us where to go. We walked out to the orchards and found rows and rows of what looked like abandoned orchards. There were no cleared paths between rows, just overgrown brush. We walked down row after row and around the entire perimeter...not one Apple. We walked back empty-handed and totally disappointed. How could they possibly not know there were NO apples? How could they send us out there like they had no idea? We told them when we got back and the poor teenage girl at the counter tried to act like she had no idea, but clearly did. We left and stopped at a farm stand down the road. We asked if we were late in the season and they told us, "oh no- it's the height of Apple season!" Apparently the adult children of the owner of Sanger Farms don't keep up the orchard very well and really let it go. Too bad. It has a lot of potential to be a great fall destination. read more

Wonderful experience picking apples and a hot apple cider after. I think those who review pricing are unfair, in light of what businesses have to deal with nowadays. If you don't own a business, it is hard to know what it is like when you cannot find workers willing to even work for $20/hour. Prices for everything are going up. Don't blame the owners of small businesses that have to adjust with the times. I believe the owner takes pride in his farm, and it is reflected in the property and business overall. I had a great time! I see a lot of bad reviews but at this time of the year is not picking season. Therefore, there are no apple or all fallen because of the time of the year. However, they have fresh apples picked for you in the store. They offer a variety of baked pies and tarts. They also have jams and marmalade. The apple cider was great! They also have other vegetables for sale. I had one of the best pizzas! The pepperoni was the bomb! They are very nice people and they keep the memory of his wife very present. The decorations made by the wife are amazing! Being from NYC and coming to a farm like this it was a great experience! I loved it! read more

Visited Sanger Farms a couple of weeks ago. Decided to have lunch. Looking forward to a piece of pie for desert because desert was on the menu. When we arrived there were two outdoor tables but they were being used. There was only one table being used on the inside so we were able to sit socially distanced. We ordered our lunch my husband a Rancher sandwich and I ordered a grilled cheese. There were no deserts but you could buy a whole pie. My husband said his sandwich was very flavorful. My grilled cheese was terrible. The bread was dry and slightly burned, the cheese had no flavor. While we were eating other people started to come in. The tables are close together so there was only a little space between them. One of the people next to our table had to stand up so I could leave my table they were so close. I did buy a peach pie to take home and it was very good. Would never have lunch there again read more

Most horrible experience with the mad Owner. (He never wore a mask out in the orchard screaming at us within arm's reach or inside the restaurant/store). Family has been here every summer, peach picking and experience had always been nice. Called ahead and was informed this weekend they were open for Upick. Went in, and staff was busy with restaurant checkout; so we debated which size of basket to use as usual, waited for 5-10 minutes, at the counter, then grabbed a basket, made eye contact and went to the farm, as usual. Half way through our picking with our 2-year-old daughter, a truck came back and a mad man came out of the truck, rudely yelling at the top of his lungs, what are you doing here, it's MY property and you can't be here! He went on and on about how we could not be here; albeit our trying to converse and explain the lack of sign and misinformation given over the phone. This is the rudest person I've seen in my 30+ years life. Little girl was frightened to tears and is still asking why he took our peaches away. This is not tolerable behavior as a farm oner for upicks. We will never be here again. read more

I have always given my business to local businesses but I will never purchase anything ever again at Sanger Farms. My teen age daughter that has been in the store numerous times left a negative review and the owner, Mike Tuck, thought it would be a good idea to privately message my teenage daughter numerous times 10 days after she left a review and it was crossing the line of harassment. So glad she did not get a job there last summer. I would just warn anyone thinking of getting a job there or sending your teenage child there to get anything there to be careful. The owner stated he showed her picture to every employee and they did not recognize her. Really??? You think you are going to recognize every person that comes into your store? Definitely taking mine and whoever I can speak to that they should take their business elsewhere. read more

Family owned and operated Sanger Farms is the place to go for all things food! It is no wonder they were just awarded local Business of The Year! Stop in and pick fresh apples or peaches straight from the century old orchards or head inside for a humongous selection of fresh baked goods such as traditional cookies, fresh fruit pies and sweet breads and including some hard to find specialties specialties that can't be found at your usual commercial bakery -- like their old fashioned butter tarts which they have become famous for --and for good reason! They do all their baking daily, in house and it's often fresh and still warm from the oven! When you walk inside the door the mercantile has an old apothecary feel and features jams, cheeses, cider, preserves, cheeses ,pickles and so much more. I highly recommend their peach salsa which is amazing with tortilla chips or as a stir fry sauce for chicken and veggies. The Back Barn Cafe at the farm is hiding a major secret. THE BEST PIZZA IN WESTERN NEW YORK! If you'd have told me I'd find the best pizza I've had in 30 years from an actual working farm, I'd have said you were crazy - but it's true. They put all the local pizzerias to shame AND use fresh home made ingredients too! At a lower price than other local options which are not nearly as fresh or tasty! The owners of the farm and their children do it all from working the land to baking, cooking and serving in the cafe and are warm, welcoming and appreciative of all who pass through their doors. The farm is open year round and the offerings change to compliment the seasons. You can call ahead for large orders/catering, and they do even deliver in certain cases. The grounds of the farm are natural but well kept and feature a lake, picnic tables to enjoy and wonderful scenery, hiking trails and family hayrides around the property are offered too. Its the perfect place to go for school trips, date night, time out with the family - pretty much a perfect place for people of all ages! I can't say enough about what a treasure this is for our area, and my family and I look forward to returning weekly for the foreseeable. We frequently buy fresh produce and have yet to be disappointed in the freshness or quality. The peaches this year were amazing!! We recently dropped in for breakfast...the food, and value were simply outrageous.
