While she is aware she isn't in her original home, she never asks to go back. Our family visits frequently and stop in at various times during the day and evening, and no matter when we drop by, my mom is happy and exceptionally well cared for. She has developed genuine, sweet relationships with the caregivers, and it warms my heart to hear how lovingly they interact with all the residents. My mother has lived at Kina 'Ole for nine months now, and her doctors are thrilled with her progress. They noted that she looks fantastic and that all of her health numbers are great now that she consistently takes her medication, bathes, exercises, and participates in daily activities. The staff carefully monitors vital health metrics like water intake, weight, temperature, and blood pressure. The house manager is incredibly responsive, periodically sending us photo updates, and she even takes Mom to medical appointments when our family couldn't make it. My grandmother was a resident at one of these beautiful adult care homes. The environment there was very clean, bright, very inviting and filled with much aloha! I've been around to many care facilities and this one was nothing like the rest! My grandma had her own room, bathroom and huge space, which was great! The staff was very helpful when moving belongings in. Its like you are family as soon as you pull up! There were all very well-spoken staff, local ladies, which made things easier for us all and my grandma more comfortable to be able to understand them. Before we knew it, they all knew her likes and dislikes. One of the staff there knew she liked music a lot so she would sing to her and play the ukulele and my grandma would sing along. There are several daily activities planned. Although my grandma was blind, the staff still found the things that she was able and wanted to do. They would explain everything that was happening, and she would get involved that way. They really made her feel a part of the family. The staff went above and beyond our expectations! Communication was great. Whenever there was something we needed to know or to better help my grandma, we would be contacted. They also respected that we worked and had busy lives as well. Everyone of the staff truly cared and put forth enormous effort to make her life as comfortable and happy as possible. The food was great! It was not cafeteria generated nor was it processed food. The meals were freshly made and customized to her special diet orders. The menu changes daily and serves great local food. The environment was great! I liked that it was pet friendly. I really appreciated that the owner would approve pets being there AFTER meeting them because that kept the staff and my grandma safe. Knowing that all animals respond differently to new people and new surroundings. They had pet therapy which was cool. A lot of the residents enjoyed the dog's company. The residents would cuddle up or spent time playing with them. After having negative and stomach wrenching experiences with other senior facilities on the island, I did not even think a place like this could exist. Aloha! I have had my 95-year-old mother living at Kina 'Ole Estates for two years now. They provide top-notch care for my mom. The home is situated in Kaneohe. The home has 8 bedrooms, each with its own private restroom. Staff prepares meals daily. The setting is fabulous, with a garden-like yard and porches for sitting when they want to be outdoors. They have social events and classes throughout the weekdays. The staff and other personnel are always willing to help when needed. They always answer texts and phone calls in a timely manner. We always receive monthly updates on her activities with fun photos that are priceless. Mom's doctors' and dentists' appointments are scheduled, and she is taken to her appointments when needed. They are also taken to various restaurants in the community for an outing and luncheon each month. My Mom especially loves going out to eat at restaurants. Kina 'Ole has been a true blessing to our ohana, bringing us peace of mind and the knowledge that she has been well taken care of. I would highly recommend Kina 'Ole Estates to anyone who wants quality care for their loved ones. In fact, Mom has many friends here on Molokai whom I refer to Kina 'Ole Estates. My 100 year old mother was at Kina 'Ole for almost two years. We selected this facility because of the high quality environment and her private suite. The staff at her home could not be more helpful and caring starting with the owner Beth and the excellent caregivers, some of whom remain friends today. The staff (usually Lokelani) delivered her to all her doctors appointments, had her records available, stayed with her for the entire appointment and drove her back to her home. Mealtimes with all the residents eating together became regular visiting time making everyone there feel like part of a large family. There was always staff help 24-hours a day which gave our family peace of mind. Rather than having the residents just sit all day, the staff was constantly organizing events and activities tailored to each person's abilities. As her health declined due to her advanced age, the staff was always on hand to order what ever care was appropriate. After her passing the staff was very helpful assisting us in making arrangements. My mother's sister was also in the same home and received the same high quality care as my mother. I would not hesitate to recommend Kina 'Ole to anyone in our family. read more

Each and every one of the staff at Kina 'Ole is so very pleasant, knowledgeable and professional. The grounds and homes are beautiful and immaculately maintained. My Aunty receives excellent care and is very content there. She is kept busy with various activities, entertainment and outings The owner, Beth Slavens followed through with her promise of ensuring her staff are well trained in redirecting and reassuring patients with Alzheimers/Dementia to calm the anxiety they experience when they are confused. Upon admission to Kina 'Ole my Aunty's legs had been very edematous and within a week the Kina 'Ole staff worked their magic in resolving her edema, I was so very thankful for that as it had been a battle and concern for months prior. There is also a podiatrist who makes visits to Kina Ole every other month to trim their toenails for a minimal charge and Beth gives the residents regular haircuts as well for no additional charge. They also have a spa day where the residents receive facial and nail care. Our family has peace of mind knowing our aunty is receiving the best care on the island. read more

We have had two separate experiences with Kina Ole in Kaneohe. First with our father and now with our mother. We are extremely pleased with the quality of care and personal attention they have both received. The smaller homes with only 8 residents, each with their own bathroom, creates a very personal and comfortable setting for even the most private people. There have been many challenges with COVID, and we really appreciated the owner's willingness to listen to our input and discuss options. We didn't always agree, but the open and honest communication helped us feel comfortable with this difficult situation. We are also comforted knowing that as mom's condition and needs change, she does not have to move. End of life is a challenge for the entire family, and Kina Ole has made it very comfortable for both our parents, and their children. We strongly recommend to all! read more

My mom's geriatric Dr. was pleased when I told her that Mom was going to Kinaole. Her Dr. has patients that lived there and all of them got great care. When I went to visit my Mom at the Elua house, it was a very warm, calm, clean and pleasant setting. I spoke with Kanani her primary care giver she took the time to tell me everything about Moms honest health and welfare, her activities and every step for us to help with Moms alzheimers. Kanani is a very caring and special person. I can tell that she has a lot of experience with alzheimers patients. My mother has been at the Elima residence in Kailua for a year and a half. Elima is part of Kina Ole Estate. I feel blessed that we found this wonderful home for my mother. They take excellent care of her and are kind and patient. We travel quite a bit and we can leave Kailua knowing she will be well taken care of. Such a burden lifted once we found this lovely home. Elima was built as a care home; the individual rooms are large, bathrooms are designed for wheelchairs and the common areas well furnished for residents comfort. A bonus is the food. Each home prepares delicious home cooked meals, lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. We hit the jackpot when we discovered this jewel. My mother is a young 96 and is happy there! read more

We toured several senior living facilities in Kaneohe and mom chose Kina'Ole. Unlike the larger nursing homes where mom would feel overwhelmed, Kina'Ole is perfect for her because of the smaller living arrangement and more individualized care. Mom is happier in that environment because of the interaction with the staff and other residents which keeps her young. Mom enjoys participating in the different activities offered; she especially likes the music therapy and enjoys sharing her experiences with us. Kina'ole has amazing staff that are very compassionate and really provide care with Aloha. They treat the residents as if they are family, and that seperates Kina'ole from other care homes. The facility is a home setting which is nice, clean, and the meals are prepared by the staff fresh from the kitchen. The ratio of staff to patients is low which allows more 1:1 personal care.
