Our family cannot thank the staff at Westminster Kindred Care enough for the exceptional care they provided to our family member, Trish. From the very beginning until the end, everyone was compassionate, professional, and incredibly accommodating. The doctors, nurses, and staff kept us informed every step of the way, making sure we always knew what was happening and what to expect. During Trish's final days, they went above and beyond to honor her wishes and ensure she was comfortable and treated with dignity. They were also so understanding and supportive of our family, allowing us to be by her side every minute until her last breath. That kindness and compassion meant more to us than words can express. I truly could not have asked for better care for Trish. If you have a loved one who needs skilled nursing or end-of-life care, I would recommend Westminster Kindred Care without hesitation to my friends and family. I've waited a while to write this review to make sure my head is clearer for an accurate review - My family relied heavily on true reviews of the Kindreds when transferring my father to one, so I'd like to provide information to other families who may benefit.  TL;DR: Kindred is bad, outdated, doesn't share information, has no online portal or easy way to get medical information, hard, if not impossible, to talk to doctors, and is the only option for LTACHs in OC. Of the Kindreds in OC, this one is still the "best." There are a few decent people (palliative care team, patient advocate, and the ICU), but they're limited by the system and other issues, and you still have to be present almost at all hours to make sure your loved one is taken care of. An LTACH is a step down from the hospital in terms of care, so you need to step-up to be an advocate.  Long: The building and systems are old. You can't get medical records/test results/doctor notes/chart updates unless you go to the medical records office, fill out a form, and go in and ask for paper copies daily (which we did). The doctors are not available, the nurses don't share anything ("the doctor will tell you that"), and admin can only do so much. Maybe you'll have a case worker that actually does something or talks to you, but the patient advocate was helpful at least and always made time. As far as care goes - the ICU area had better nurse to patient ratios and was really quite good. Outside of the ICU, it was more dismal. The nurses don't really care - most are just doing the bare minimum. There are a few good ones in there - you can request them if you want (do that). It takes ages to get a response after hitting the call button. My dad wasn't repositioned often unless he needed new dressings or linens. PT/OT only worked with him when we were there, otherwise they'd claim he was asleep or not receptive to working. Speech therapy came some but it wasn't until one fantastic lady came and really helped clear out my dad's mouth. You need to be there all the time to hold them accountable and make sure things are done. You can get extended hours approved too, which is worthwhile. Kindred works their employees hard, but the staff still need to understand that their patients are in critical condition, in long-term care, need compassion and good care, and are needing to recover.  The doctors are all listed on the patient whiteboards, but they're never there during visiting hours (it sure felt like this was done on purpose to avoid interaction with family members. We asked many, many times to talk to doctors. If you are the squeaky wheel, though, you may get lucky - pester and then pester more. That's the only way we were able to talk to doctors. Though some of their bedside manners could be better. Make sure to ask who the doctors/nurses/therapists are when they come in as they don't often do introductions. The palliative care team was really quite good - respectful, listened, and compassionate. They really helped us understand what was going on and helped us get the information we wanted and needed. When we were there, Kindred had just started a new hospice contract with Compassionate Health Hospice. It was horrible. They messed up everything they could from showing up 90min after their set time to messing up the medication order. And not even apologizing or being respectful. read more

I have had concerns from the start and my hope is it will get better quickly! I question the quality and will ensure we have someone with my loved one every hour between the visiting hours of 10-8! Our loved one was admitted to the ICU on Saturday evening. We were there Saturday evening when he was admitted, we were there all day Sunday and all day Monday and still haven't seen any of the physicians. No one can tell us the care plan. The patient is asking for water or an ice cube but is told they can't have anything until they are seen by the HCP team and the nurses are given instructions. I asked about speech therapy and physical therapy - when it begins and how often. The nurse told us she didn't know when it started and it may be once a day, if we were lucky. This is the purpose of our loved one being transferred here and 2 days later he is still laying in the bed waiting for an HCP to come and the team to create the treatment plan??? The visiting hours do not allow loved ones in until 10 AM. This is absurd. Mission Hospital was 8 AM, so the family could be there when the HCP's and care team did their rounds. I know being admitted on the weekend may be a part of this, but today is Monday and still no HCP's have been there. I hope this gets better. I have been doing our own physical therapy with my loved one every hour - lifting his arm, squeezing a ball, moving his toes and shrugging his shoulders. Otherwise he would be just laying there waiting for something to happen since Saturday evening. The nurse Sherry has been a Godsend, helping bridge the gap, but it seems like the protocols, standardization and overall system are very broken there. Hoping for a quick improvement. read more

I was in Kindred for 4 and a half months last year. I received excellent care there. The food was good and I received excellent physical therapy. Shout out to Gabriel, a physical therapist there, took the time to listen to me and my concerns upon discharge. read more

Can I say one thing? I'm not sure why this hospital has such low reviews. I know they take on really sick patients and sometimes this can go sideways but I have personally experienced acute care from this hospital. My dad is recovering from Sepsis here. He's been at the hospital (not just this one) but about 2 months almost. At kindred like 3 weeks and currently he's in the ICu due to complications due to how fragile he is atm. But there's is a NIC here in the AM, SHERRY. Before I got to talking to her I see how she micro manages her nurses and can I say I am amazed on the care she gives to the patients in this wing. I know my dad is okay ESPECIALLY the 5 days she is in charge. I had a little scare a couple days ago and the way this team reacted to the alarm, I am just so thankful. I am at peace knowing my dad is being watched here. And I know it always come down on how a team is led and I can honestly say , I LOVE SHERRY AND TRULY THANKFUL FOR THIS TEAM!!!!!! In the other hospitals my dad has been in becasue of his critical condition, this place has given him many good days and infection clearing up and being visible than any other hospital he has been in and he's been to 3 before this. The staff lie about the care they are giving your loved ones. they tell you they are getting physical therapy occupational therapy and speech therapy but they don't give it to them. they told me the entire time my dad was there that I missed each of these specialists each visit and when it came down to it, they told me they hadn't even been to see him within 30 days! they don't answer phone calls and only respond to negative reviews. they beg you to change your review but don't change their process. Even the number to make complaints on line is false! DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES THERE!!! I pray there's an investigation and I'm happy to provide my notes on my experiences with them! read more

I'll start with the good things first. The only good part of our experience during my wife's stay where first the Patient Advocate, Claudia, who is an angel, and couple of CNA's, Hamed and Julie Cava. My wife suffered from TBI and had been in Coma for 1.5 months before they transferred her from Providence Mission to Kindred on January 7, 26 against our wish. Right from the start Claudia showed her full support and how she cares for patients like they are her own. I can clearly say that couple of time she saved my wife's life and for that I will be in her debt for the rest of my life. She was always available when I needed her to push other staff to do their jobs even when she was not feeling well. God bless her. I would like to thank Hamed and Julie Cava for their great work and care. Hamed would come and check on us and help even when he was not assigned to us. Julie took a great care of her at night and I felt safe to go home when she was assigned to us. She would set alarms every two hours to come and reposition her. The case manager, Ashley works hard. Sometimes I saw her working till 7:30 PM. She did what we asked her when we needed to send records to other hospital although later than when we would have wanted but finally got the job done. At Providence they told us Kindred is the best place for next level of care to help her recover. The first day her assigned primary Dr., Dr. Soong, came and said was "what is your expectation"? He told us there is nothing they can do for her. I said then why did you accept her and forced us to come here? Then he backed off and said this is the best place for her and left. The first incident happened after 3 days when in the morning I came and found my wife covered in her feces and urine and hadn't been changed for hours. That caused her wounds in the bottom that after a month is still there. The nurse that was assigned to her was a nurse from a level down unit in 2nd floor and apparently, she did not even come to examine her. Couple of days later, a nurse (Khan) that I would call him grim reaper, appeared at our room and said they are going to move her to the step-down unit in second floor. All the nurses had previously warned me about how horrible that unit is and they leave people over there to die. I immediately went to Claudia and asked for her help. After few attempts, they did not budge. I told Claudia if they move her I will sue the hospital for what they did to her the other night. Then they changed their mind and kept her there. When I asked them, whose order was to move her, they said the Cardiologist, Dr. Harpreet Sing. This Dr, never came to visit her and yet he puts it in his report that he visited the patient. Such a liar. I could not understand how he could order something like that without seeing the patient. And he is not the only horrible Doctor in the building. All other Doctors, except for Dr. Karimi, are a joke over there, especially the Neurologist, Dr. Gaw who has absolutely no idea about stimulating people in Coma. Every Doctor would just come look at her for couple of minutes and leave. None except for Dr. Karimi and Dr. Kamalipour would spend some time to try to stimulate her and show they care about us. I will surely look into how I can report those doctors, Dr. Sing and Dr. Gaw, to the board and try to at least suspend their licenses. And that is not all. The Speech therapist is a complete joke. He just came once and said she is unresponsive and I can't do anything, and never showed up. He doesn't know that people like her need therapy to be able to recover. Same with PT and OT, they never came to do any therapy on her except to evaluate her. Our goal from the beginning was to transfer her to TIRR Memorial Herman hospital where they have special program for people like her. Finally on 2/4 we transferred her. From a week before this, the nurses noticed she was not digesting nutrition that was fed to her. But all they did was just suction the food out and stop feeding her. No one bothered to see what was wrong with her stomach. This led to her being extremely malnourished. One day after we went to TIRR and when they noticed the issue, they immediately took a CT scan and found out there's an obstructions in her small and large bowels that cause the issue. So, immediately she was sent to ER to be treated. And they had to do a surgery to remove the obstruction. Had we stayed at Kindred and they continued what they did she would have surely died in few days. Had they found out the issue when it happened, then we could have avoid the surgery. Overall avoid to take your loved one over to Kindred. It is a slaughter house. With no real doctor to take care of them. read more

I very much hate this place and can see 3 years later there have been no changes. The weekend before my mom died she wasn't getting enough oxygen so her heart was going crazy. They put in a order to have her intubated. On Monday her dr asked why she wasn't intubated and they said they never received the order They fed pushed her TPN through her picc line while laying down she was supposed to be elevated. They intubated her shortly after and she crashed. Her body had been through so much over the weekend. The pictures I have of her are horrific. My poor mom. That morning we even asked if she was dying so we could call family they said she was not. Please take your family somewhere else. This place is horrible It would have been more humane to have her on hospice at home. But we were told over and over that she only needed PT and she was going to be ok. They lied. read more

Of all hospitals my family have been to, this one was one of the worst. It's a long term care hospital and I had big expectations because patients typically stay here over a month. NURSES: I would think that they would assign a designated nurse each day to each patient. Some of them don't even bother to introduce themselves or they're so robotic. There was no building rapport and relationship with their patients. These patients are long term patients so that is important! My dad had multiple nurses come in and then next day, it would be another 3 different people. It's just so confusing. I also find it bizarre that they're always gathered around the station typing away. I've never seen so many people all typing at a hospital but no one is walking to rooms. Is this an office job or a service job? THE WAIT: The other problem we have was that it would take 40 minutes to even an hour for nurses to come after pressing the button. My dad is on oxygen so you can imagine how crazy that is if something happens to his oxygen tank. I would come many times with him waiting to use the restroom because he didn't want to become soiled on bed. Sometimes I find it really hard to smile at the staff who are able to use the restroom at their own will but treat patients this way. I get it that they may be understaffed but there's so many people at the nursing station! If the main in charge person is busy, their manager should be going around to help out. If they can't get it in order, this place needs to consider closing. CASEWORKER/SOCIAL WORKER: our case worker and social worker were really nice. They had all the information to help prepare us entering the facility. The only problem is that I didn't see them as much after. I wish they did more weekly calls to family members to keep us informed rather than us reaching out to them or nurses. I don't want to be a Karen but I hate being the person who have to call to ask why this and that is happening when I'm kept out of the loop. COURTNEY: Yes Courtney gets her own section because she is the only reason my dad smiles at this place. My dad can be picky and short tempered but I love love how she handles his sass. She would come in all the time just to say hi and give him juice/adjust his bed or pillow/check his vitals. I feel like I can trust my dad under her care even though she is not his main nurse on any of the days. This place needs to give Courtney a promotion and or resources to become the nurse in charge because any patient would be lucky to have her. Overall, I would not recommend this place unless it's going through serious reorganization and structure. Employees need to have incentives to want to work better and feel appreciated to translate that to their patients. So unless that's already in place, then they need to reconsider their hiring process. Resumes don't say everything. read more

I read some reviews of people sent here to die. I wholeheartedly agree. My dad was in this hospital in September and had no food or drink order. However he was given food and drink and ended up choking and aspirating. He was resuscitated and put on a ventilator. This is all due to the lack of care and attention given to the order of no food or drink! He was sent to ICU and again lack of care. My brother in law asked Edna questions as to my dad's health and was told he wasn't on the list to give information to. However, we had on numerous occasions asked for myself and him to be added. Edna- flatout told me she will not come in to my dad's room if my bil is in the room. She didn't attend to him for hours because of this! This is not what I expect from a nurse, the patient should always come first! Lastly we had no case manager as we were "overlooked". This hospital and equipment is old, the nurses are not attentive. I hope not only patients' families but Kindred Management see this review. My father was transferred to this facility twice in 2025 for nursing care, PT, and speech therapy. While a few staff members showed compassion and attentive care, both stays revealed serious and repeated failures in care, communication, and accountability. First Stay 2025: He stayed for a month. CNA Virginia and a few nurses were attentive and kind, and the physical therapy team helped him regain some mobility. Unfortunately, these positives were overshadowed by inconsistencies in care. His room was changed multiple times without explanation, and at one point, he was nearly moved to an infectious unit despite having no infection--an error only avoided because I intervened. Despite escalating this incident to management (specifically Hector), there was no follow up discussion. There was little to no communication from involved medical personnel about his condition or treatment plan. We had to stay heavily involved--constantly checking to make sure medications and recommended treatments were being administered and asking for updates. Response times to call buttons were slow, and hygiene needs were sometimes ignored. Second Stay 2025: This second stay was significantly worse. Again, his room kept changing without notice or explanation; one time late at night and personal items were temporarily lost. We were not informed of a serious wound he developed. When it came to our attention and brought up to nurses for answers, accountability was passed between staff on different shifts and no one was able to provide answers. While one or two nurses and CNA Yousef showed attentive care and kindness, overall nursing and therapy engagement was minimal. In the final days of his life, my father showed clear and concerning signs of deterioration: he stopped eating and drinking, became confused and unresponsive, developed a wet, congested cough, and stopped speaking altogether. These issues were raised to nurses, but were dismissed as fatigue. Only later were we told he was being treated for infection in his lungs and for the wound. A doctor examined him the day before he passed and found no major concerns. A CT scan was finally ordered at noon, but not completed until late that night, after which we were notified they are transferring him to the hospital for further testing. Then an hour later, we were informed 911 was called for a hospital transfer but no explanation was provided. When he arrived to the ER, he was already in septic shock. The receiving hospital had no information why he was sent from the facility. My father has passed away. Throughout both stays, we had to be constantly present--advocating for tests and examinations to be ordered or completed, monitoring treatment and hygiene, and pushing for basic communication and updates that should have been standard. To Management: Create an environment where staff take pride in their work. Invest in the facility itself--paint and update hallways and waiting rooms, update patient rooms and bathrooms such as new paints, fix stained ceilings and holes in walls, lightings, and modernize equipment and systems. Ensure the environment is clean and dignified. Boost morale by offering fair wages and treating staff with care and respect. Most importantly, establish a culture of accountability, high standard of quality care, and clear, consistent communication with families. Patients deserve safe, timely responses, respectful and compassionate care, and their families deserve to be informed. To Staff: Your work matters deeply. The care you provide has tremendous impact, especially for vulnerable patients. If you chose this field to help others, let that guide you. If you're burned out, take care of yourself first and return when you're ready to provide the quality care patients deserve. If you feel you are not compensated fairly or it is not a good work environment, go somewhere else where you can be your best so you can do your best. Kindred is where old people are sent to die. Lola (my grandmother) was sent to Kindred Westminster and every time my fiance and I have gone to visit, I am there to visit my grandmother. That is where my intentions have lain and will always be when visiting her. The times we have gone to visit her, with this intention, I have noticed some things that have really raised a lot of red flags in my eyes. The nurses do not care for her. They see her as simply another body. When I visited, Lola pleaded with me to reposition her. I let her know that that's what the nurses are there for, so we will call them to do that. This in itself is a whole onion to take apart, but we're going to start with the first thing that happens. When we press the call light for a nurse, no one answers. I am not expecting an answer within 2 minutes, but 5 minutes will pass. Then 10 minutes. Then 20 minutes. Nothing. This has happened on 4 separate occasions. I have had to go out to the nurse's station to make requests for lola because no one has come to check on her in the ICU department despite the nurse light being hit multiple times. Lola feels embarrassed and "feels bad" for calling the nurses. So much so she is afraid to call them anymore, if even that, because she doesn't want them to "get mad at her". When the nurses finally come and we ask for her to be repositioned, they wave it off saying that "they repositioned her an hour ago and she is fine" despite her crying in pain, asking to be moved. Even if it is something as simple as asking for a pillow under her bottom side, the nurses will not. If this is happening in front of family members, it concerns me with what is happening when none of us are around. Something the nurses have also told me is that she will not eat. I understand in some capacity that she was refusing food, but look at the state of her now. She can't even lift her hand to use her phone. So you leave a tray of food and then expect her to feed herself if no one is around? She can BARELY lift her phone to answer phone calls. Her nurse call light is also never near her. It's always to the side of her bed, somewhere inaccessible that she could not grab on her own. I imagine in between times nurses MUST leave the remote with the call light near her, but every time I have visited (with the nurses in the room and not) there is no concern for her access to safely call a nurse. If something bad happens, how will they know? They won't until it's too late. She can barely talk, you expect her to cry and yell for help? Her left hand has also been severely swollen. They are claiming it's arthritis, and I know she has had arthritis her whole life, but it has never ballooned up to what it is now. When I asked the nurses to further explain, saying that she was fine not even 2 days ago, they would only tell me it's arthritis and don't elaborate on that. The nurses complain to me about how she cries in pain when being changed. I ask them if she is perhaps making these complaints about pain because she is indeed in pain. They say yes, in an annoyed tone. I walked in on them changing her and noticed she had bandaids on her bottom. Bed sores. I explained to my mom (a DSD at a nursing facility, 20+ years of experience specializing with elder care) that she had bed sores and it is probably because she's bedridden - she immediately cut me off and told me that there are plenty of patients who are bedridden and NEVER have bed sores. What is the cause of this? The state of the facility is also wildly concerning. From rust on the patient bathroom sinks in HUGE amounts to the patient rooms being disgustingly hot, it's hard to be there for about an hour, how do these patients feel? My Lola may be dramatic, I am fully aware, but she has never talked about wanting to die with such a genuineness that she has been these last few weeks at Kindred. Lola is a woman who will notice a problem about herself and her health and do what she can to remedy the pain whether that's by seeking treatment from doctors or requesting for ways to better herself. She now sits in a room, crying, begging to die. Kindred has taken my grandmother apart and has torn her spirit into pieces. The most disappointing thing about all of this is the lack of care and empathy that the nurses bring. I have worked in customer service my whole life. I understand that we as representatives will be asked the same question a million times over, every day all the time. But for the people on the receiving end, it is their first time ever asking questions like this. The way that these nurses handle my lola and other patients I have seen is appalling. There is no empathy. There is no consideration of the fact that yes, you may see someone in this state every day forever, but this is the first time most likely that any of these family members will see a loved one in the state that the nurses are so used to seeing. And there is no empathy. No care. It breaks my heart. read more

My husband was in this facility from August 2024 to July 2025 and the neglect is astonishing. He was recently returned to UCI for a follow up with his neurologist and UCI noticed he had an obstructed bowel and kidney stones which makes sense why he kept saying "ow!" The cleanliness is extremely below acceptable as we had to request suction container and other things to be changed or removed. They would barely put him in a chair so he would lay in a bed non stop contributing further to atrophy. We asked for PT and told them we (family) would help assist but that never went anywhere. Because of this his toes have now permanently curled and they will need to be broken and surgically fixed. His doctor would come in and most of the time as we were discussing with him, would walk out in the middle of us saying something. Be warned when leaving loved ones there. The nurses are negligent and rude. They have no compassion and are pushy. I've never in my life experienced anything like this in a hospital. My father and sister both had long suffering diseases which meant spending many days and hours year after year in different places so I have many experiences. I immediately saw the grotesque demeanor of kindred hospital staff from the moment you walk in. I think Kindred Westminster was a wonderful place , my mother stayed there for three weeks . They help her get strong and ready for home . I need too thanks many people, especially the physical therapist who work on her . Giovani and Stacy where amazing, patient, kind , beyond there duty . They change her diaper. Made her smile . Also the staff of nurses Fransica cortez CN DeAnna RN Maggie CN Claudia Sanchez Rn April Lisa Garner Rn help with checking out was beyond helpful ! Respiratory Therapy also very patient and kind ! I can't name them all but these people where very nice . Also the Doctors where excellent, help anyway they could . So you must be an voice for your love one but everyone is there too help you ! They are like most hospitals, some nurses actually care or fake it well and some are just lazy and don't care about doing a good job. Doctors tried, but Dad was just too sick to save. The more you are there to advocate and fight for good care the better. I am a paramedic and my wife is an RN. It helps but at the same time you know what could be better. RNs need to be trained in things like comfort, I know it's hard and time consuming. Elevators were out of service for a week or more. Shows a lack of urgency on management's part. I have written a review before and wanted to give an update. Kindred hospital was responsible for the death of my loved one. They failed to give my loved one their kidney dialysis for three days resulting of a heart attack and no brain function. NEGATIVE STAR If we could give negative stars we would. This place almost killed my family member. She was neglected if we didn't show up. One week we missed 2 days, when we arrived she was curdled in a ball in excruciating pain and soiled. Since that day, we made sure somebody was there every day to make sure she was ok. We tried to get her transferred, it took us three weeks to get her out of there. We threatened to take her out ourselves to emergency due to the lack of care she was receiving, at that time they scramble to help. If you have a family member at Kindred GET THEM OUT . She finally got transferred to another facility, upon arrival, the new facility sent her directly to Emergency due to a serious infection and her vitals not being stable. PLEASE do not ignore the yelp reviews. As of today, it has been three weeks since she left Kindred and is still in the hospital fighting the infection that was not cared for at Kindred. She came out of there worse than she went in. There were a few good nurses and I wish I could remember their names, but very few. She is now in good hands at Saint Joseph's getting better day by day and will be going to the new care facility soon. Prayers the for all the patients at Kindred now . God be with them read more

Very strange place. You get moved room to room in the middle of the night after being sedated. Seems to be a party in back of hospital on 4th floor at night. Nurses dress in party clothes. Very slow response when pressing call button (1+ hours sometimes). I recommend never going here read more

Do not take your loved ones to Kindred Hospital for care. The lack of attention that patients receive is highly alarming. Patients are allowed to sit in their beds, soiled, for hours before being tended to. My family member was at Kindred for nearly a month, and the level of care is disgraceful. We had to hire outside care to be present 24/7 with the patient, because the staff checks on patients so infrequently. The facilities itself is dilapidated, with the AC not functioning in a few of the rooms that my family member was placed in and the bathrooms in each room nearly non functional. Despite the dozens of responses to negative comments, clearly nothing is being done to change the quality of the care that is provided. The management and leadership team at Kindred should be ashamed of the quality of service they provide. Save yourself the worry and do not allow any family members to be admitted to Kindred. read more

I gave this hospital one star because you have to give something. My daughter spent 3 1/2 weeks at Kindred Westminster. She was ignored,never repositioned left to lay in fecal matter so long it burned her skin. After the first week we realized that they were not gonna come and help us care for her. She became a emaciated, developed a bed, sore the size of an apple,(which was never given care) and only after confronting the doctor and making him come into the room and look at her was she sent to an acute hospital where it took 3 weeks for her to recuperate from what they did to her. I am certain had we left her there she would not have survived it. read more

Do not recommend having family members transferred here. I saw what my mom went through before she passed at this hospital and I wish I would have taken her out of here. Nurses, supervisors, and case managers don't do their job properly. The care is horrible. Won't say more, but please don't allow your family members to come here. Everyone deserves the best care. If I could give this place 0 stars - I would. I have no idea how a healthcare facility this dirty can even be open. I went to visit someone in here and was disgusted by his room/bathroom. He said he asked a few times to have the bathroom cleaned and no one came. He also needed to be in a facility with a good wound care team and they had no idea what they were doing. Thankfully he's getting out of this hell hole tomorrow. Oh - and the food is horrible. He's diabetic and they kept bringing him all kinds of sugary food. Stay away from this place. read more

I give this place 2 stars because: Front desk people are nice, helpful. Some of the nurses tried and worked hard to take care of my mom during her stay there. Most of the time, nobody had any clues about my mom health condition. Social services should get 1 star, never made an effort to reach out to our family to see if we would need help. Doctors are second class, treated my mom like a cash cow, tried to delay discharge with invalid reasons, giving antibiotics for unknown causes. Their attitude was these are all almost end of life patients, they made no attempt to find out their true needs. It was more like fate that my mom got better to go home! read more

They do not have " bedside sitters" and so instead they say they use sedatives on an "as needed" basis but really they mean around the clock. My dad was literally sleeping when the nurse Lizy came in and suggested a sedation medication. I told her no thank you and instead of taking the refusal kindly she pushed further. She wouldn't just take no for an answer on this occasion and when I declined morphine earlier in the evening. Another nurse admitted to giving my dad twice the dose of morphine that she would give me, a woman who outweighs my dad by 50 lbs. Doctors and insurance companies will sell kindred as though it's a privilege. I saw these reviews and thought only angry people leave negative reviews. My husband was transferred to Kindred Hospital in January 2021 after Corona Regional Hospital left him to die. He had Covid Pneumonia was trached and on a ventilator. Because Corona Hospital doctors believed he wouldn't make it and the covid medicine ruined his kidneys, he was in a coma, and I was told he was probably brain dead, they tried to get me to pull the plug three separate times. I began to pray and The Lord sent me Dr Kim, who stabilized my husband enough to be transferred to Kindred. Our primary doctor, Dr Patel got a team of doctors from Kindred especially, Dr Chan and Winnie and they began the long road to helping my husband recover. I Praise The Lord firstly, for sending him all the right dedicated staff. The Intensive Care Staff were awesome! Donna Nash the women who was in charge of all the nurses became such a Godsend to me. As my husband's advocate they helped me through some very scary times. Once my husband was moved downstairs I also found my favorite nurses there too! The CNA's taught me how to care for my husband at home also.! My husband was at Kindred for 11 months and I was there with him every day! Thank you all for being the heroes who showed up everyday! My husband has been home now and has continued to improve for the last 13 months. I Thank The Lord for my husband's healing and giving us great doctors and nurses! I went to visit my grand-aunt who has been admitted to this hospital. The hospital is showing its age as everything is faded from wear and tear. Still, I liked how there is a reception area as soon as you enter the hospital. Visitors sign in and if you need direction, the lovely receptionists will guide you in the right direction. I was there about 40 mins and during this time my grand-aunt got served her lunch. I was pretty impressed by the fact that they got fish as an option for their meal. My grandparents have been admitted to hospitals before and fish was never an option. It would be nice if they got fish since meat isn't something they're used to eating. Kindred is an acute care hospital and is located off Westminster Avenue in a quiet corner. 3.5 stars. read more

If you truly love your relative don't take them to this awful place.My dad would sit for hours in his feces before anyone gave him attention.I can remember standing in the hallway and hearing a man yelling for help and i was looking at two hospital workers standing against the wall talking and laughing with each other and i asked them you don't here that man asking for help ? They looked at me like i was bothering them.The staff was horrible to deal with on getting my dad out of this hell hole,he stayed a week longer from the day he was supposed to because of the lack of follow up with certain people and appointments that he needed.The family had to do all the work because they simply didn't care. read more
