This was a fairly new school and it was the most affordable Montessori school in the area. The tour went well and Ms Lana helped us feel at ease that he would be getting great care and education with them. The classrooms were clean and the learning materials seemed very contemporary. Our son adjusted well after a couple weeks and we started to see a great improvement socially and academically and his feelings about school completely changed as well. He was half day initially, but we decided to extend after he was potty trained. He grew to love going to school and eventually during pick up, he'd hide behind his fingers which he explained "I was hiding because I want to stay at school". He loved his teachers and I can tell he got the individualized care he needed. I know my son's time here has made a lasting impression on his educational journey and we would recommend this school to any parent looking for a quality, affordable Montessori school in the area :)

He has made a good progress not only academically but also emotionally and socially with the support of teachers and caring school staff. His teachers Ms. Erica & Ms. Alice both are very caring and loving teachers. Both teachers are extremely knowledgeable in child psychology and early childhood development. Each teacher has their own unique qualities.I always saw them following hygiene level among kids and keeping everything super clean. School staff is also very kind, supportive and welcoming. A big thanks to Ms. Lana who kept updating by calling each day regarding our son. Teachers and staff both are very caring and always keep you posted for the betterment of your child. School just celebrated Easter and kids had lots of fun during egg hunting. My son was super happy and excited. Thank you so much for making such lovely memories for my son. I am really thankful and grateful for both teachers Ms. Erica and Ms. Alice and the school staff for their kindness, support and love to my son. Highly recommended this school for your child!

This year has especially impressive with themes every week, art and songs to go with the theme, lots of reading and writing without worksheets!! Kids learn via play, and love it. They do so much art daily, that you'd have to buy boxes if you decided to preserve them all. :) We also loved the playgrounds in each year, perfect for the age group and separated from other ages to keep them safe. Another plus is the events, they celebrate many festivals, performances for Mother's Day/Father's Day and Christmas! Last but not the least, the staff is amazing! During the tour of the 3-year-old class, I saw a teacher holding a cup of steaming hot tea without a lid, walking through a group of children and even hugging two of them. After entering the classroom, the teacher put the tea on a cabinet, which was fine. But a little later, she moved the hot tea to the table where the children were having snacks. I questioned the tour guide on the spot, and was told that the school provides complimentary drinks for teachers every day, and that this poses no safety risk since they've never had an incident where hot water was spilled on a child. This response shows that the school prioritizes not offending teachers over children's safety.

Mix up Fridays are fun so kids could explore other play areas. We looked forward to the activity of day table every morning. Each day was an amazing creation. For my 2 year old, I couldn't have chosen a better school. I toured all in the area and after careful evaluation we landed at this school for many reasons and very happy with that choice. Finding a daycare that could safely accommodate our son's medical complexity including G-tube feeding was extremely challenging, especially for an infant. From the very beginning, the team at Early Horizons went above and beyond to provide not only excellent care, but also genuine love, support, and nurturing for both of our children. Special shoutout to Teacher Crystal and Teacher Kristen in the infant room, and Teacher Jennie and Andreina in the toddler room. These individuals are absolutely amazing, and we fully trust them with our children. They are so nurturing and loving, and you can truly tell they enjoy what they do and have a genuine love for kids. Our son attended from 10 months old until he was 2 1/2, and our daughter started at just 5 months and stayed until she was 2. Both of them thrived in this environment, and as parents, we always felt reassured knowing they were in such capable and compassionate hands. As they reached each milestone, the amazing teachers celebrated with them. This was so heartwarming as it revealed how much our children meant to them. One thing we especially appreciated was the consistent updates throughout the day--feedings, snack times, and photos. It gave us so much peace of mind and helped us feel connected, even when we were apart. We never felt like we were missing out on their growth and development. If it weren't for changes in our family situation and commute, we would absolutely still be there. Early Horizons will forever hold a special place in our hearts and sets the highest standard for all daycare centers and schools. We highly recommend Early Horizons Preschool to any family looking for a safe, supportive, and loving environment for their children. One final note-- our son's Occupational Therapist, who's been working with children for nearly two decades, paid a visit to Early Horizons to assess the environment to provide strategies to maximize our son's abilities. Verbatim, she said, "I've never seen a daycare that is more caring and accommodating than this one". Cheers to the best daycare ever! Thanks for the core memories!

I also love that the teachers let the children decorate art in their own way rather than forcing them to follow certain pattern and make it "perfect". I think that's key to nurturing creativity. The school is very good at planning and celebrating key holidays/events and bringing the families together, so the families have developed strong bond and sense of community. The biggest event series of the year is the summer! The school plans for 6 weeks long of special curriculum/events including water play. My child got over fear of water because of that! They invest time into learning what is special about your child and work with you to improve on what needs improving My son was in the bigs class as his first completely by himself experience & he has grown leaps & bounds. He plays independently, he's grown to start to initiate play and playing together with friends. When we had periods of pushing boundaries & learning how to play with others, they were great with talking with us on how to work/reinforce these ideas at home. Also, my son is a late August bday & there was debate on whether to start kindergarten. Ms Darcy & Ms Crystal wrote a report on how our son was progressing and on what skills he was striving and also where he was struggling. They also met with my husband & I to discuss. These are things that really indicate going the extra mile! There is also a push to really interact with the other family's (although not a requirement ) which we found helpful. It's great in order to help the kids foster friendships in the class. This was further reinforced with family 'special' events such as fall festival, mothers/fathers day, & end of year celebration. My review won't nearly do the school justice, but here's what I've got. I went to a co-op preschool growing up (Redwood Parents Nursery School in Redwood City) and I remember it being pure magic. The environment, the teachers, the families we're still in touch with (I'm 35 now, so that's saying something), all the time outdoors. In my search for a preschool in this area, I had begun to accept that that kind of thing just didn't exist anymore, or that if it did it was out of reach financially for our family. I know one mid-range preschool I toured (not parent participation) was something like $650/month, and that was just for 3-4 mornings per week, nothing crazy. I couldn't do it. So we went to a city-run preschool for a while that we weren't thrilled with, and then went to the open house for this one in January of last year. It. Was. Everything. I was blown away by the beautiful outdoor space - big tricycle track, chickens, bunnies, big sand area, garden for the kids to engage with, tons of movement equipment, nice lawn and little hills. And now they even have a mud kitchen! The kids are ENCOURAGED to get messy. They can run around barefoot, jump in puddles, if they're working on their potty training and have an accident - no biggie. They really and truly foster a positive learning environment. There are centers set up all over the place (thanks to the parent involvement) with science projects, cooking projects, special art activities, free range art activities, music, and exploration of every kind. And if the kids just want to hang out and ride bikes because that's developmentally what they're drawn to? That's cool, too. They consider observation a form of participation, rightly. On top of all of this, the teachers. Oh, the teachers. They're just amazing. We started in February of last year, mid-year, and we were immediately included, welcomed, loved, and part of the village. We were at home, right away. They treat the students with unending respect and love, get right in the magic and fun with them, and are equally ready to sit down in the dirt and listen, build problem solving and conflict resolution skills, and just be 100% present. They WELCOME conflict and difficulties, because it's an opportunity for learning and growth. As they say, if the kids already had all of those skills, they wouldn't need preschool. All of this, and affordable! $270/month for the 3's morning class this year, I believe; and just slightly more for the 4's afternoon class. The catch, and I see how this makes it challenging in some one parent homes or two working parent homes, is that there's a lot of parent participation involved (working one day per week, evening meetings once/twice month, a committee position, two janitorial weekends per year, etc.), and that part ALMOST kept us from doing it, but I'm so unbelievably grateful that we chose to make the leap. Every bit of time and effort we've put in has come back to us ten-fold in the sense of community we feel, and the amazing experience our whole family has had so far. If you're considering this school, you can call any time and schedule a tour. I can't possibly give it enough stars.

The school is a wonderful location with a huge backyard play area that has bikes and chickens and bunnies and tire swings and lots more. Inside there is a play house, art studio, and a game room. Our daughter comes home with a new and different piece of art that she's made almost every day. It's a parent run co-op, which means all of the parents are very involved (they run the school!) and it's really great getting to know a community of other parents with children the same age. The parents work during the school days along with the teachers, which means there are lots of adults supervising the children, and it also means the adults get to relive a bit of their own preschool experience. I had forgotten how much fun a marble maze is, or all the different things that you can do with hula hoops!

One thing we've really appreciated is the balance between strong academics and social-emotional learning. Our child had a bit of an adjustment period coming from a different school environment at the start of summer camp, and Program Director Ms. Karwa was amazing in helping with that transition. She's thoughtful and supportive with younger children during big emotion moments and does a great job building strong relationships with parents. Teacher Ms. Chaudhry and Ms. Suresh have been caring, kind, and dedicated teachers who create a warm classroom environment while helping children grow both academically and socially. Another thing that really stands out about Washington Park campus is the sense of community. There's a strong connection between families, students, teachers, and campus leaders. The family engagement efforts are wonderful, and the campus leaders and admissions put a lot of effort into creating opportunities for families to connect and feel involved. This campus has such a warm and welcoming feel, it feels like more than just a school, it feels like a community.
