Over the past year, she has blossomed in so many wonderful ways. She has truly thrived under the love, care, and guidance of Ms. Jasmin, Ms. Judy, and Ms. Yao, and she has built sweet, meaningful friendships along the way. Our older child was initially shy, but the teachers helped with a smooth transition. While the group of teachers was different for each child, both of them were lucky to have such caring teachers. There is also an annual parent-teacher conference for tracking progress. The facilities are great--especially the large backyard with play structures. Please note there's a dog at the school, which was fine for us, in some cases playing with animals helped our kids develop. The kids themselves seemed much more developed and mature than we expected when we did our tours. This sold us, one of the older girls was able to empathize while conversing with my wife during our visit. The children spoke mostly in English to each other while playing, so it's very good preparation for Kindergarten though we wished the kids could play in Chinese.

This was a fairly new school and it was the most affordable Montessori school in the area. The tour went well and Ms Lana helped us feel at ease that he would be getting great care and education with them. The classrooms were clean and the learning materials seemed very contemporary. Our son adjusted well after a couple weeks and we started to see a great improvement socially and academically and his feelings about school completely changed as well. He was half day initially, but we decided to extend after he was potty trained. He grew to love going to school and eventually during pick up, he'd hide behind his fingers which he explained "I was hiding because I want to stay at school". He loved his teachers and I can tell he got the individualized care he needed. I know my son's time here has made a lasting impression on his educational journey and we would recommend this school to any parent looking for a quality, affordable Montessori school in the area :)

They do so much art daily, that you'd have to buy boxes if you decided to preserve them all. :) We also loved the playgrounds in each year, perfect for the age group and separated from other ages to keep them safe. Another plus is the events, they celebrate many festivals, performances for Mother's Day/Father's Day and Christmas! Last but not the least, the staff is amazing! During the tour of the 3-year-old class, I saw a teacher holding a cup of steaming hot tea without a lid, walking through a group of children and even hugging two of them. After entering the classroom, the teacher put the tea on a cabinet, which was fine. But a little later, she moved the hot tea to the table where the children were having snacks. I questioned the tour guide on the spot, and was told that the school provides complimentary drinks for teachers every day, and that this poses no safety risk since they've never had an incident where hot water was spilled on a child. This response shows that the school prioritizes not offending teachers over children's safety.

Finding a daycare that could safely accommodate our son's medical complexity including G-tube feeding was extremely challenging, especially for an infant. From the very beginning, the team at Early Horizons went above and beyond to provide not only excellent care, but also genuine love, support, and nurturing for both of our children. Special shoutout to Teacher Crystal and Teacher Kristen in the infant room, and Teacher Jennie and Andreina in the toddler room. These individuals are absolutely amazing, and we fully trust them with our children. They are so nurturing and loving, and you can truly tell they enjoy what they do and have a genuine love for kids. Our son attended from 10 months old until he was 2 1/2, and our daughter started at just 5 months and stayed until she was 2. Both of them thrived in this environment, and as parents, we always felt reassured knowing they were in such capable and compassionate hands. As they reached each milestone, the amazing teachers celebrated with them. This was so heartwarming as it revealed how much our children meant to them. One thing we especially appreciated was the consistent updates throughout the day--feedings, snack times, and photos. It gave us so much peace of mind and helped us feel connected, even when we were apart. We never felt like we were missing out on their growth and development. If it weren't for changes in our family situation and commute, we would absolutely still be there. Early Horizons will forever hold a special place in our hearts and sets the highest standard for all daycare centers and schools. One final note-- our son's Occupational Therapist, who's been working with children for nearly two decades, paid a visit to Early Horizons to assess the environment to provide strategies to maximize our son's abilities. Verbatim, she said, "I've never seen a daycare that is more caring and accommodating than this one". Cheers to the best daycare ever! Thanks for the core memories!

My review won't nearly do the school justice, but here's what I've got. I went to a co-op preschool growing up (Redwood Parents Nursery School in Redwood City) and I remember it being pure magic. The environment, the teachers, the families we're still in touch with (I'm 35 now, so that's saying something), all the time outdoors. In my search for a preschool in this area, I had begun to accept that that kind of thing just didn't exist anymore, or that if it did it was out of reach financially for our family. I know one mid-range preschool I toured (not parent participation) was something like $650/month, and that was just for 3-4 mornings per week, nothing crazy. I couldn't do it. So we went to a city-run preschool for a while that we weren't thrilled with, and then went to the open house for this one in January of last year. It. Was. Everything. I was blown away by the beautiful outdoor space - big tricycle track, chickens, bunnies, big sand area, garden for the kids to engage with, tons of movement equipment, nice lawn and little hills. And now they even have a mud kitchen! The kids are ENCOURAGED to get messy. They can run around barefoot, jump in puddles, if they're working on their potty training and have an accident - no biggie. They really and truly foster a positive learning environment. There are centers set up all over the place (thanks to the parent involvement) with science projects, cooking projects, special art activities, free range art activities, music, and exploration of every kind. And if the kids just want to hang out and ride bikes because that's developmentally what they're drawn to? That's cool, too. They consider observation a form of participation, rightly. On top of all of this, the teachers. Oh, the teachers. They're just amazing. We started in February of last year, mid-year, and we were immediately included, welcomed, loved, and part of the village. We were at home, right away. They treat the students with unending respect and love, get right in the magic and fun with them, and are equally ready to sit down in the dirt and listen, build problem solving and conflict resolution skills, and just be 100% present. They WELCOME conflict and difficulties, because it's an opportunity for learning and growth. As they say, if the kids already had all of those skills, they wouldn't need preschool. All of this, and affordable! $270/month for the 3's morning class this year, I believe; and just slightly more for the 4's afternoon class. The catch, and I see how this makes it challenging in some one parent homes or two working parent homes, is that there's a lot of parent participation involved (working one day per week, evening meetings once/twice month, a committee position, two janitorial weekends per year, etc.), and that part ALMOST kept us from doing it, but I'm so unbelievably grateful that we chose to make the leap. Every bit of time and effort we've put in has come back to us ten-fold in the sense of community we feel, and the amazing experience our whole family has had so far. If you're considering this school, you can call any time and schedule a tour. I can't possibly give it enough stars.

The school is a wonderful location with a huge backyard play area that has bikes and chickens and bunnies and tire swings and lots more. Inside there is a play house, art studio, and a game room. Our daughter comes home with a new and different piece of art that she's made almost every day. It's a parent run co-op, which means all of the parents are very involved (they run the school!) and it's really great getting to know a community of other parents with children the same age. The parents work during the school days along with the teachers, which means there are lots of adults supervising the children, and it also means the adults get to relive a bit of their own preschool experience. I had forgotten how much fun a marble maze is, or all the different things that you can do with hula hoops!

One thing we've really appreciated is the balance between strong academics and social-emotional learning. Our child had a bit of an adjustment period coming from a different school environment at the start of summer camp, and Program Director Ms. Karwa was amazing in helping with that transition. She's thoughtful and supportive with younger children during big emotion moments and does a great job building strong relationships with parents. Teacher Ms. Chaudhry and Ms. Suresh have been caring, kind, and dedicated teachers who create a warm classroom environment while helping children grow both academically and socially. Another thing that really stands out about Washington Park campus is the sense of community. There's a strong connection between families, students, teachers, and campus leaders. The family engagement efforts are wonderful, and the campus leaders and admissions put a lot of effort into creating opportunities for families to connect and feel involved. It's calm and easy for kids to settle in. Looking back, we feel genuinely fortunate and grateful for the principal, the Director of Preschool & Kindergarten (Ms. Sandeepa), and the teachers, who truly make this campus stand out. You can feel the heart and intention Ms. Sandeepa brings, and how thoughtfully she uses parent feedback to make the learning journey even more special. I've been impressed many times by the activities she intentionally designs to support children's social-emotional growth, something that matters so much to young kids and might not be emphasized in every Stratford setting. Our daughter enjoys her learning through art, singing, games, and hands-on experiences like exploring the garden and different materials. We also LOVE the Mandarin afterschool program and the teachers. A good leadership team matters so much for a campus. We are happy with our choice and would highly recommend Stratford Washington Park to parents who seek an inclusive learning environment with natural greenery and professional while caring faculties to be with your children 80% of their awake time during weekdays.

We have considered moving out of Sunnyvale to be closer to our workplaces, but each time we go back to not wanting our son to change schools and wanting to be close to Little Sunshine if we have a second child. Here are my favorite things about LSHD: Loving and supportive environment - Cecilia, Yuri, Mari and Ana love and care for our son as if he was part of their own family. I was sad and nervous to leave my baby when my maternity leave ended, and knowing he was in a loving environment that was as close to being loved on at home was one of the only consolations. The team provides our son with homemade, delicious meals that he eats each day, despite barely eating anything we make at home. When he was a baby, they diligently followed our feeding requests and warmed breast milk brought from home and worked on introducing solids. Our son is very spirited and at times has had challenges sharing, taking turns, shouting etc. and they have worked with him on these skills with the utmost patience and support for his individual development. Cleanliness - Cecilia's home is incredibly clean and filled with colorful, engaging toys. I don't want to jinx it, but our son has also avoided any major illnesses commonly picked up at daycare and has not been sick constantly which we were very afraid of when starting child care. He also comes home clean every day, but on the weekends we probably go through two -three outfits a day! Not sure how they do it. Knowledgable - As other reviewers have stated, Cecilia is so empathetic and encouraging for first time parents. She will work through any concerns you may have for your child while carefully listening and offering gentle advice and reassurance. The staff has had over a decade of experience with so many children so it is invaluable to hear their perspective on any concerns you may have. Play based learning - I was not someone who was looking for an academic environment for my very young child and instead valued a loving and caring space for him to play and naturally learn. Our son has exceeded all my expectations for what he could know before the age of two. He can count and say his colors in English and Spanish, has learned about days of the week and the calendar, and can recognize individual letters and the sounds they make. Reliable and open communication - I think in 1.5 years there has been one single day of unplanned closure due to a power outage. They share their vacation schedule well in advance so you can appropriately plan. They share photos and text updates that make my day while at work. I highly recommend Little Sunshine Daycare for anyone looking for a safe, reliable, loving, nurturing and clean home environment for your child. Cecilia is truly passionate about early childhood education and care and I feel so lucky she provides this service to our community.
