Just average... there was nothing spectacular the food was okay and the service was okay. The drinks come out of a can and taste flat.

Quick find for us in the area that wasn't fast food but seemed fairly quick for service…read more Diner looking on the outside. Plenty of cars in the parking lot, which is a good sign. Walked in and clearly this is a local hotspot for regulars. We were there on a Sunday(around 10:30am). Gentleman in front of us had the paper and was acknowledged by one of the waitresses to sit at the 2nd blue booth and she would be right with him. Gotta hometown feel. We were seated by an older gentleman (didn't realized he worked there. Looked like a customer). He mumbled "follow me". No "hi" "good morning" Strange but ok. Waiter was also not very talkative. Some might dislike this service or not. I don't really mind. I'm there for food, not chit chat. Coffee, diet pepsi and water. Coffee was real good. International Delight creamer cups already on the table for convenience. Water more than likely was filtered and not straight city water(at least it tasted good to me). I got biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs (over easy). Impressive serving. 2 biscuits cut in half, smothered in sausage peppered gravy. Biscuits we good. Nothing fancy to say about those. Gravy was creamy and plenty of sausage throughout. Perhaps too peppery for my liking but I was able to finish the plate. (Did I mention we were hangry?). Eggs were ok(we are use to farm fresh). Over easy like I ordered. Boyfriend requested House Skillet with choice of toast for side. Imagine a garden, then toss some hash browns in, meats and slap on 2 eggs! All the things in this skillet. Mushrooms, peppers, onions, tomatoes, ham, bacon, sausage, hash browns, cheese-all topped with 2 over easy eggs! Hefty portion! He was happy with it. Not "bangin" but great taste. For the quick decision of stopping here, we were happy. Service was speedy. Just not service with a smile. Perhaps Sundays are their busiest days. Oh forgot to mention! Cheap! Large portions- ain't leavin hungry for a penny pincher!

Smaller salads which is fine, but the honey mustard dressing was skimpy and not best. No bread served with the salad or even salad crackers. My wife had a hamburger and I had a patty melt. Both appeared to be preformed hamburger patties. You can pretty much tell, same shape, not much taste or flavor. My wife said hers was dried out. We go for the diners that use fresh ground beef, hand made. We ate maybe half of each. The fries and onion rings were good, but difficult to justify at +$30 for both meals. Doubtful that we would try much else here for lunch but the breakfast is very good.

I read about this being a "must" when in the area and made the 50 minute drive from Sabula with the girls in tow arriving just before 6 on a Saturday. I did not realize you drive thru the actual state park and then down the dustiest road in America to get there. My car was covered in dust (and bugs from the rest of the drive) on arrival. We were told it would be about 30 minutes and went outside to feed the fish and ducks. It was probably less than that time when our buzzer went off and we were seated in the tiny dining room. I feel like they should serve in the bar area where there are more tables instead of making people wait so long. They could double the occupancy. But maybe not enough staff? We got the haddock special for two of us and another went with grilled cheese. I have to say it was really dry. And the tartar sauce was totally smooth and grey - I didn't even know what it was when the server first put it down. The fries are wedge and fine, but I'm not a fan of wedge style so I didn't really eat them. Good coleslaw. Surprising they have no desserts. I guess it just helps to move people in and out because there are signs up too telling you not to linger (in nicer words). We stopped at McDonald's on the way home for McFlurries and that seemed to make the kids happy. Maybe it was an off batch (we only had one plate) but I'm not sure I'd want to make this trip again.

We went around 330pm on a Sunday (not exactly the busiest time), and the food was fresh and plentiful. Yes, the sushi may not be the quality of, say, Bangkok Gardens in Dixon, but do you really expect a $10 buffet to offer THE MOST AMAZING SUSHI EVER? I certainly had low expectations, but the sushi was adequate...and I liked how they have 6 or 8 different types of sushi to choose from. That's more than most other Chinese buffets. Other than the sushi, the entrée dishes were various and the selection was large enough for even the pickiest eater to find something to eat. All in all, I was pleased with the experience. For $10, it really can't be beat. I didn't try the grill, but hope to next time.

They tell you that it's broken but it's not it works. They just don't put it on so they can cheat you. Unfortunately that's what they're doing and I told them to their faces that they're cheating me so I'm going to stop coming here because I'm sick of being cheated and if you're sick of being cheated, eat somewhere else or make them fix the scale so that you can see the price and what you're buying some people buy a lot of food in with them playing games like putting their hand on a scale when it reads it, come on the act like we're really stupid a lot of Chinese people act like Americans are very stupid. It's not cool at all. It's racist.

I'm glad I did! The interior of the building is decorated in a western style, stage coach stop theme. Mainly because if you read the local history on the menu, the building used to be a "Roadhouse" where the stage coach stopped. I found the atmosphere very different for the area and really relaxing. When I was there it wasn't too busy, so I sat at the bar. The owner was there and I was able to chat him up some. He has an interest in a local cold case from 1948 that I also follow. He was a great guy to chat up, extremely friendly. The food here is pretty good. I ordered The Blue Barrel. Basically a bacon cheese burger with hot bleu cheese on it. Per the menu it suggested I put A1 on it per the chef, so I ordered it that way. Man was that good. Huge patty too and it was cooked just right! I really enjoyed the burger. The service was a little off. The lady working the bar would disappear and I would have to ask for things or try to find her. Not a huge selling point especially when there were only a couple of people in the place at the time. I really have to say that I liked this place a lot. I loved the atmosphere, the servers, the owner, the food. It was great. I will definitely be back.
