Recently found myself and a couple others in Peekskill driving up and down Route 6 and none of us could agree on where to go for food. So my girlfriend (who used to work around here) mentions this place where she'd heard that a fist fight had once broken out over who was going to get the last crab leg. Never one to pass up the opportunity to get punched out over a piece of disgusting warmed-over seafood, I said let's give it a shot. Since I was totally expecting this place to be a shit show, and it did not disappoint, I gave it five stars. From the guy in the men's room who walked right out of the stall and then straight out the door and onto the buffet line to the countless unsupervised children crashing into you at every turn to the nasty, greasy food you're going to pathetically choke down while hating your life, this place DELIVERS! Very affordable and great buffet meal here. Although located pretty far from the metro area if you're visiting Bear Mountains or other places around the area its definitely worth a stop. I heard dinner time gets really crowded however because of the snow crab legs offering. When we left at 3:30 in the afternoon there was already quite number of people waiting for a table. The food itself is pretty standard for a Chinese buffet place, but they are definitely fresh especially the seafoods. After 2 plates it was getting too much for me since a lot of their food is pretty greasy and oily. But they do have some nice small desserts and the ice cream machine was pretty good as well. I've been eating there for over 5 years and lately the quality of the food is very poor. The food is brought out from the kitchen at room temperature and they hope it will warm up as it waits for you to eat it. All hot food needs to be at least 140 degrees to keep it safe to eat. I have been coming here ever since I was a kid for about 15 years now. The food has always been amazing and everything is incredible. I have always picked this spot for my birthday to go out with my family. Now that I'm in college out of state, I miss this place. I always visit at least once when I do happen to be in the area though. My favorites here are the coconut chicken (usually only served at lunch), the sushi, sesame chicken, crab cheese dish, cheese wontons, dim sum, soft shell crab (only on special days), and a lot more. I've never had any issues here and I've probably eaten here over a hundred times. On holidays, they usually also have a special where lobster is included too. You will have to wait in line for someone to serve you the lobster because otherwise other people would devour them all, which is understandable. You can go up to get more as many times as you want to, though. During dinner times and holidays, the lines are usually extremely long. You might end up waiting half an hour or more. It is best to call in ahead to make a reservation. The lines this place creates are an attestation to how many people love eating at this restaurant. I highly recommend going here. I've been to many Chinese buffets but this one is by far the best one I've been . The food here was super fresh the waiters were very friendly and it was overall a great time . Just about everything here was amazing and 5/5 . I mean wth buffet food you can't expect everything to be perfect but what a great selection they have . Make sure you go after 4 PM because that's when they bring out the fresh seafood. The price on the bill was almost unbelievable considering the selection of food they had. The food never gets replaced it sits in the hot trays long after it becomes disgusting to eat and only when the quantity of that food drops real low do they bring out new food, then they proceed to mix the old nasty food with the new food, the spring rolls are terrible I took one bite and actually spit it out, it tasted foul. The sushi is all mushy. The chocolate ice cream has strange particles in it. The atmosphere is horrible as well the place is very unclean, the bathroom is gross. In a small side section of the restaurant I witnessed about 10 workers preparing green beans on the tables, not in the kitchen. Pretty good Chinese food buffet. It is clean and the trays are always kept full. They offer a nice variety and the food is hot and fresh. I usually start with soup so I sampled the egg drop, wonton, and the hot and sour. All were really flavorful and delicious. The spring rolls are crispy, the fried rice is moist and the dumplings are not overly doughy. Favorite entree? I would go with the Hunan Chicken. The chicken Very good and full of flavor. The best ice cream at a buffet! I don't eat sushi or seafood at a buffet so I cant comment on those things. My least favorite would be General Tao chicken. A little too sweet and the meat was dense. We came here after a hike opposite Bear Mountain and promptly regained all of the calories burned from that hike. First what we liked: The fresh shrimp and cocktail sauce were outstanding. I still thought about it for a few days. The chicken and brocolli were some of the best I've ever had and I've had thousands of that meal. The watermelon was incredibly tasty. Putting that behind me I was eager to enjoy a good meal; and judging by the number of patrons I was optimistic. The server appeared immediately and delivered our drinks without delay. That was the last we saw of him. Plates crowded our little table for two, drinks were not refreshed and we needed to request the check from another server who we saw tell our server, but again, he never returned. At the register I attempted to hand the check to the person who greeted and seated us. He ignored me while he carried on multiple conversations around us. I finally laid it down since I felt foolish standing there with my arm extended toward an individual who continued to ignore me. So the credit for my decision to take my business elsewhere can primarily be attributed to the host/greeter/seater since he has but one job: to make guests feel welcome and valued, at which he failed miserably. (The bad service added to it but I'm a softie towards wait staff and will give a free pass as long as their attitude is friendly.) So back to take out: at least I know my business is important to them, and the service in my house is always friendly with cleaned tables! We came to the Buffet on the 4th of july while visiting family. Great food and experience all around. The restaurant is clean and well kept, and the foods are replenished fast and there was never a line for any foods including the crab legs. The oysters were very fresh and tasty too. We also loved the sushi and the sashimi was outstanding. We had a party of 5 and the bill came to 96. which was really fare considering how great the food was. Lastly, the bathroom was nicely updated and very clean.....these high volume places can have really messy restrooms....not here, very nice updated and kept clean. I try to avoid buffets whenever possible, and King Buffet is the apotheosis of why - but I can't blame them for their clientele. Their food has always been pretty great for buffet-style eating. I pretty much stick to the sushi, and if it's a weekend night, the raw bar of clams and mussels, which are great. I'm picky when it comes to sushi, and it hovers pretty solidly between A&P sushi and restaurant sushi. The sushi and raw bar move fast, but are always refilled quickly. You might need to stalk it for a bit, though. The main problem I have with this buffet is that it's regularly wall-to-wall crowded, and much of this crowd doesn't choose to adhere to socially acceptable behavior. Kids run rampant, tables are a bit too close, and it's not odd to watch someone completely give up on trying to figure out the complex mechanics of tongs and just grab at the object of their desire, using fingers which have traveled to mysterious and unsavory destinations not moments before. The whole situation is unappetizing, and there's always someone at your back, seeking to gorge themselves on what you're currently trying to collect onto your plate. If you can get past this disappointing display of the lowest common denominator, you're in for a pretty good meal. read more

I've been here many times for work lunches over quite a few years (20+). Some guys were always excited to go to "The King," because they could eat like pigs. If you like chicken nuggets and deep-fried mini egg rolls, this place is for you. To be fair, I have never had dinner here. But for lunch, I have never been impressed by this place. It is generally standard buffet fare, not bad, but definitely not very good. I have had much better at buffets and takeouts, locally. I think "The King" has gone downhill in recent years. The selection is not that great; lots of frozen fried stuff, like chicken nuggets, eggrolls, etc.; and the various entrees now have a definite mass produced "processed" taste, as in huge frozen boil-in bags mass produced elsewhere rather than actual stir-fry chefs in the kitchen. The hot and sour soup tastes like it just came out of a gallon can. One thing that has always really bothered me about this place is that there are no Asian condiments available on the buffet, unlike most others, like hot chili oil or siracha sauce. They have always just had a squirt-bar of generic red hot sauce, ketchup, mustard, and ranch dressing. I guess you could ask for these things, but.....they would probably just bring you another soda. The whole point of a buffet is that they should have something that you want. Also, they don't even have Soy Sauce on the tables anymore. I get it, with COVID and all. I guess you have to ask for that, too. I have gone in twice over the last month because I have very limited time for lunch; it's quick. Yeah, it fills the belly, and time is of the essence. My parents moved from Queens to Yorktown Heights when I was in college, which meant that we were trading the delicious Chinese food of Flushing for - well - the frankly questionable Chinese food of upper Westchester. However, as someone who enjoys tasty and authentic Chinese food, I have to say that the food at King Buffet is actually quite good. Of course, it's not Flushing level good, but then again, you need to temper your expectations given the location. The food is generally fresh and the turnover is high. There is sushi/sashimi which is edible, if not inspired. Overall: loads of food and a lot of variety - king crab legs and fresh oysters - extremely efficient staff - easy parking Food is absolutely delicious.
