I have been coming to this restaurant since it's current incarnation. I love the food, I love the service. I have never had anything bad. My favorites are their boneless ribs, the egg rolls are always phenomenal, the pork fried rice is loaded with veggies and meat, the wonton soup is my favorite-bok Choi, spinach, char sui shreds and delicious dumplings. Their dumplings are fantastic, the chicken and green beans, beef and broccoli, everything is really a hit. Everything is fresh and fast. This has been my Chinese food go to for most of my life. Based on some of the reviews and the common assumption that good Chinese food is hard to find in this area, my expectations were low. However, the experience turned out to be much better than expected! We enjoyed the ambiance, the decor, the food, and the service. It's solid American-Cantonese cuisine with generous portions and well-prepared dishes--if you know what to order. The restaurant has a charming atmosphere, complete with a large aquarium in the center of the dining area, which adds a nice touch of Feng Shui. I met a long time friend at Golden House for lunch yesterday and am so glad I did. In my neck of the woods there are not many sit down Chinese restaurants. Plenty of take out places but no restaurant restaurants. We both had lunch specials (Sesame Chicken for me, Chicken Chow Mein for my friend) with Pork Fried Rice and soup. A basket of noodles, duck sauce and hot mustard was provided as well as a pot of pipping hot tea. We were seated right away, order taken and food delivered. The restaurant is not much to look at from the outside but clean and bright inside. There were a good number of tables filled when we arrived which was a very good sign. Reasonably priced ($30 including tip for 2 lunches). 25 minutes from my house makes for a quick meal out. I almost forgot, the food was delicious. My favorite sit down Chinese restarting in the area. Best prom fried rice in the area. Best chicken noodle soup in the area. Broth is so good. Bbq spare ribs also one of the best I've ever had. Friendly waitstaff and everything very tasty. They were out of the string beans with meat (sad), but the eggplant with shrimp I chose as a substitute was great. They recently raised the price of the lunch special and charge extra for an another bag of no-idles and another duk sauce. Personally, I was turned off by that. I was not going to leave a review but I decided to. We had take out last night and I want to say I was disappointed with my meal. I ordered shrimp chow mein fried rice and an egg roll. The rice was the way I remembered it and the egg roll. Very good but the shrimp chow mein was just onions,lots of them and six small shrimp and a few pieces of celery!! And no taste! I ate a bit and left the rest! The sauce was watery and tasteless!! The dinner size was skimpy!! Now I'm not sure if I would order the take out again?? I live in this area & in my opinion, golden house has the best Chinese food in the area. Reasonable prices for a sit down restaurant , almost the same as take out joints. The chicken & string beans is my favorite. They give you big crunchy noodle chips and duck sauce for dipping for free. Very good place. read more

Upon entering we were not greeted too warmly which made me nervous, the atmosphere was authentic old school Chinese restaurant, no glitz , kind of old , but what you would expect . The food is very good and the service is pleasant. I need to be honest, we eat here a few times Pre-covid, and enjoyed it A Lot! I think the food quality went down a little..but it is no reason to turn our backs on this fine restaurant. In upper Westchester, sit-down Chinese restaurants are rare nowadays. Golden House reminds me of the ones I grew up with, in the best possible ways. The food is tasty and fresh, prices are reasonable, and service is very good. I've now been there three times, once for dinner with my wife, and twice with my friend for lunch. I've tried the General Tso's Chicken (good) and the Chicken with Broccoli (excellent). They serve the type of crispy noodles that I prefer, the broader ones. I like to put them in my soup and crunch them in with my main dish (I'm just weird enough to do it). I especially recommend their lunch specials. For less than $11, you get a choice of soup, a choice of a dozen or so main dishes, and a choice of white, brown, or roast pork fried rice. Add to that the complementary tea and you have quite the bargain. Along with my chicken and broccoli, I had the wonton soup both lunch visits and it's among the best I've had. When I was there for dinner, I also tried the egg roll, which was stuffed just a bit too much for my taste, and the spare ribs, which were excellent. They do have dinner specials that include soup, appetizer, and dessert if you have a healthy appetite. In short, Golden House is a wonderful place to go for lunch or dinner. Step into the past. What with so many restaurants ripping people off in this post-pandemic era, it's refreshing to find a place to have a leisurely meal in a nice setting without breaking the bank. The quality of the food is very good, the taste is even better. Dom was our Server all three times he's very knowledgeable and gives great suggestions, pleasant. The food comes out in clean, beautiful presentation, the vegetables are cut beautifully and crisp as should be with excellent flavor Compliments to the Chef. Not one thing has been a bad decision. Haven't been back to The Golden House since, sadly, prior to their unfortunate fire! Felt as if it was the exact same surroundings with the exception of casual tables/chairs near the entryway for waiting to receive your order. The food, to me, is unchanged since mid 1990s! I feel it has an old time traditional Chinese vibe. All take-out orders come with store filled condiments in cups, fortune cookies, and a few bags of traditional Black Tea. Plenty of parking in the plaza across from the JV Mall. Has the stereotypical appearance of a Chinese restaurant and hasn't changed at all. The waiters are dressed in suits and are attentive.
