The aquatic center features a water slide, swimming pool, and a splash center with lots of shade tents within the fenced area. The playground on the north side of the street seems ideal for smaller children. On the south side of the street by the parking area, there is a huge two-story playground with towers and walkways and a long slide from the top level to the ground! The Oakhurst Mansion was built in 1894 by George and Frances Ball in the Arts and Crafts style. The Balls were avid readers and created the Blue Book of Canning, that teaches food preservation. This remarkably maintained house is open for self guided tours. The interior contains all original woodwork, trim details and some furniture. Family history is abundant throughout the home. My granddaughter enjoyed the interactive activities throughout the house, especially canning in the kitchen and creating a family tree. Immaculate gardens surround the house. The garden is filled with oak trees and other dense hardwoods. Paths meander through the garden. There was one clerk present during our visit that checked us in and invited us to explore the house and grounds. She was friendly. Admission was included in the $15 tickets that we purchased at the Bob Ross Experience (but can also be purchased on line). There is ample parking in the lot northwest of Oakhurst. Accessible ramps are located at the east entrance of the home. They are opened Wednesday - Sunday.

There are nice paved paths that easily connect to the Cardinal Greenway or just a short jog to the White River. The paths through Oakhurst Gardens are not really long enough to do your full run, but they are a nice little detour from typical sidewalks! I would highly recommend the garden paths for an easy stroll on a nice day. This is a safe and free area to enjoy a nice walk. Even in February the gardens are well kept and the ornamental sidewalk designs provide enjoyable scenery. I am looking forward to going back as spring awakens the blooms in the garden. Another plus about parking/visiting this area for a walk or run is that the Minnetrista museum building is unlocked during business hours and you can sneak in to use the restroom!

This is a pocket park that does not have much to offer. The jungle gym claims to be a smart structure featuring integration with a smart phone or tablet that brings fairy tales to life by scanning a QR code located on the structure. To be honest, I do not see that feature getting a lot of use, outside of the curious. The park has a bench that overlooks the play area and a picnic table that offers a scenic view of a man made pond and the main road. This park does not have a designated parking lot, but I do not think it was designed as a destination park anyway. You can park along the street in front of the park, across the street from the houses though, without any issues. The park is located off of the Cheeney Creek trail and has a small paved circular path around its perimeter that is intended for kids on the tricycles or big wheels, hence the nickname "Big Wheel Park". This park is geared towards people from the neighborhood visiting it. It does not have a lot to offer and my little guy wanted to leave after about 15 minutes, saying that he was bored and wanted to go home. I will give the park 3 stars for effort, but I would probably skip this park and find one with more to offer and do.

This tiny pocket of a park packs a punch, though, as it has a paved "road" for kids to ride bikes, trikes and big wheels on. It's awesome! It even has a "fueling station" where kids can get "gas." (OK, I'll stop with the quotation marks now; I'm sure you get it.) Part of the bicycle road is lumpy and bumpy, which looks like it would be really fun to ride on. The playground itself is really small and consists of one play structure with a climbing wall, slide and pole. There's space underneath for children to hide under and/or have secret club meetings. Then there are two rocking rides. A Little Free Library sits just off of the playground, and last time I checked it, it contained some of the best children's books I've ever seen in a Little Free Library! I mean, we're talking like Eric Carle and those touch-and-feel books. Whoever is donating here is very generous!

I just happened upon the park after making the detour off Main Street to avoid construction. There are TWO amphitheaters, a meandering trail through natural wetland, a fabulous playground and lots of space to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee. A modern artistic cafe is nearing completion on the north side of the park. The colorful playground offers a maze of colorful climbing structures. There is a wall for sitting and watching the kids. I grabbed parking on the street, but there wasn't much. I think most people walk to the park from one of the trails that merge adjacent to the park. I didn't see open restroom facilities, but there are probably some in the cafe, when open.
