Located in the Prague Jewish quarter, the King Solomon offers a modern take on traditional Jewish comfort foods. We stopped in to sample their gefilte fish. It is served with a beet slaw that is delectably seasoned with red wine. The gefilte fish is amazing. It will ruin you for the jar forever. The latkes are perfect. A nice texture and oniony garlicky flavor. We also enjoyed the pickled salmon (gravlox). This was a succulent and flavorful salmon fillet with a delicate saltiness. Every thing was also served with various pickled veggies too. Beets, carrots, cucumbers, Olives and capers. If you are visiting the jewish quarter and feel the need for a little refreshment, then cone here directly. Its a great modern take on what your bubbie made in her kitchen. Stopped here only for a quick bite after touring the Jewish Quarter (Josefov) so I can't speak for much of the menu. Also, I'm not Jewish and therefore I'm probably not in the best position to be judging Kosher cuisine. The lunch options are somewhat limited, but all of them sounded great. They also have quite a selection of Kosher wines. All I had was the Borscht soup, but it was delicious. Go for this if you like beets, aren't that hungry but want something hearty. The highly professional waiter brought fresh rye bread, which paired well with the soup. Upon leaving here, some German tourist pointed to the restaurant and kept saying, "Michelle Obama." Turns out the First Lady stopped here to eat as well and gave the place a ringing endorsement. That said, I was kind of surprised nobody else was in the joint after our visit on a Saturday after noon. Hopefully for the sake of King Solomon, the approval rating of this restaurant isn't in line with that of Michelle O's hubby. Yum! Although we came for a light lunch the food was of good quality and fresh. We had each kind of soup which were both to die for. We also had the chicken salad, which was very fresh. Although a bit expensive, I would definitely recommend coming here for a nicer meal while visiting the Jewish quarter. There are many different options on the menu that sounded good- the cabbage rolls being one. The service was good, the building was nicely decorated and overall it was a pleasent experience. I came to King Solomon on the last night of my trip to Prague. After a few days, I longed for something different. The minute you step foot in Prague, you realize that every single restaurant in there entire city serves the exact same dishes! I can only eat pork knuckles, schnitzels and goulash so many night in a row. Don't get me wrong...I love the food here but there is ZERO variety. I wanted to try some authentic borscht and King Solomon was the only place I could find with it on he menu. I started with pickled herring which was amazing. Then came the borscht! It did not disappoint. It was rich, thick and delicious. I finished with the stuffed cabbage with It was smothered in a beefy gravy. After touring the Jewish Quarter and paying respects to the Maharal at Prague Cemetery, I had the pleasure of having lunch at the finest glatt kosher restaurant in Prague. The restaurant is located in the erstwhile home of Rabbi Judah Loew Ben Bezalel, the Maharal, one of the greatest kabbalists and legendary creator of the Golem. I had a delicious beef borscht with beet and seasonal vegetables. This was followed by cow tongue accompanied with an apple horseradish sauce, and grilled fallow deer with cranberry sauce and potato croquet. Very flavorful and beautifully presented dishes were accompanied with excellent service. I came with a large group and the waiter served us all with excellence. This was one of the most memorable and delightful meals I had in the Golden City of Prague. Highly recommended!! read more

Went in the other day for a quick bowl of Matzo Ball Soup and it was the worse bowl of matzo ball soup I have ever had. And I have been eating and making matzo ball soup for 60 years. The balls where he size of small pebbles maybe a half inch at the most and only 3 of them. The soup lacked any sort of flavor at all. Matzo ball soup for a Jewish restaurant should be like egg rolls in a Chinese restaurant it should be like the first thing you master. And for two cups of this it cost us around $20 US. So I've tried a few kosher places back in the USA, and I will say that this is among the better ones I've tried. I ordered the chicken matzo ball soup, which was super cozy and perfectly seasoned (once a lil salt is added ;)). My dad had the borscht, and it was flavored beautifully. We finished with the gefilte fish and stuffed cabbage. Stuffed cabbage=8/10; gefilte =5/10-granted that is because I'm spoiled by my Russian grandma's recipe! Give this place a try! read more

Over priced you pay 4 times as much as any other location and the food and atmosphere is very poor

I do not get the hype around that place. Was there over the summer for lunch: limited choice of food and no great taste to it. I guess that the experience might feel different if you are more used to jewish cooking than I am and are looking for a "feel-like-home" dinning experience.
