Although we raised our son in an asian culture, we do not speak enough mandarin at home. We are amazed on how much mandarin my son understands via speaking, writing, and reading. I didn't think he will pick up much mandarin since we do not speak mandarin at home but we are so amazed on how much he knows. The faculty at Tzu Chi are very nurturing and caring. It's great the class is small so the kids get more attention and care. The school is very safe and they also organized a lot of school activities so we are well connected. It continued from 2nd grade till 5th grade. The same student. Not only my child but 4 others. All us parents were irate and 3 kids were pulled from Fairmont and home schooled. One teacher said in second grade " If my child behaved differently, then he wouldn't stand out." Mind you he had special needs as 3 ot of the 5 kids did. Travis Ranch School has a more inclusive policy. Plus they go through 8th grade.
