Her response is forever imprinted in my memory. She told me I was overreacting. What kind of adult has that type of reaction to a CHILD telling them that they were getting mistreated. On top of that, they are quick to point fingers, accuse students for being "bad", and not look into the students' situation at home. I was going through the roughest period of my life and they made it a thousand times worse. I hope no child has to go through that. Miramontes, Villa, Canales, and Schreiber. I hope you guys do the world a favor and retire.

This school can get pretty scary and unsafe. Dropping off in the morning is a nightmare. Leave early and be prepared to wait. Major traffic and unsafe driving. Daily fights occur between both boys and girls. Smoking, vaping, alcohol and drugs are a common place at Alvarado Intermediate School. Not much justice for the victims. No substantial consequences for the criminals. Bullying is a part of the culture. Rarely do the offenders receive more than a, "talking to" for their offences. Pay the money and go to a private school or opt to Ybarra or Oswalt. You won't regret it.

They all know my son and always greeting to him on the hallway, even after he graduated almost one year ago. The younger age room 2 teachers took so good care of my son. Ms. Griselda was always reading and playing with the kids when I picked up my son in the late afternoon. she always shared with me how my son was eating that specific day and other fun facts about him, before I ask. Still also remember how nice and warm Ms. Cecilia was when I didn't make it for Mother's Day activity. They took a lot of pictures and greeted to me with so much love that day when I picked my son up. All the way up to room 6, Ms. G focus more on good behavior and learning. While strict, she is also a fun teacher. My son likes her so much and came back everyday telling me things that Ms. G shared. He also learned so much things, art, math, geology, etc. The school also host many activities and kids performance through the year, my husband enjoyed this a lot. Only downside is the waiting list is always pretty long, parents need to prepare early if they want to attend this school.

The school has a over a year waitlist for great reason-- our child has matured and developed beyond our wildest dreams. Walnut International Montessori has been super LIFE CHANGING not just for our child, but also for us parents + the loves ones around us. Our child has learned skills, habits, and attitudes for life. We'll forever be grateful to Ms. Noelle, Carolina, Gie, Sabina, Hailey, Anna, Katie, Sam, Reina, Rabia, Connie, Andrea, Dima, etc. for their patience, dedication, expertise, and wholistic LOVE for the kids, parents, and the community. The staff has ALWAYS been sincere, selfless, and deeply passionate about kids' development. We wish we could stay forever with WIM-"--8 stars, if possible! Stay steadfast & patient to the other parents waiting out there! PS: Naysayers here aka "negatrons" get what they deserve for their lack of deep love, care, involvement, and sense of accountability & ownership to their child's welfare. 99% would stand on a hill about this.

I am very disappointed with the Pre-K Program headed by Martha Macias…read more I am giving a warning to the parents that are looking to enroll their toddlers into the Pre-K program. Do your research and refer to the parents' experience before doing so. The way Macias is running the Pre-K program may affect your kids negatively. Don't do it unless the school decides to change its Pre-School Director. My kid was doing really great with Mrs. Lisa (Monalisa Cabrera). If there's someone good that remains in the Pre-K program, that's Mrs. Lisa. My wife and I have nothing but praises towards Mrs. Lisa. She's done a tremendous job taking care of our son and other kids as well. Few months after my kid transitioned to Ms. Thompson alongside Mrs. Macias. My kid developed an aggressive behavior something that we've never seen him had before. On March 4, 2026, Mrs. Macias informed us at "the classroom entrance" that our son was no longer allowed to attend the school due to behavioral concerns. The conversation with my wife was conducted "outside of her office, in front of other parents, kids and staff. "VERY UNPROFESSIONAL" and she's considered as the Pre-K Director. This is very concerning and scary at the same time. We feel it would have been more appropriate to discuss this privately rather than at the classroom where others could overhear. I guess our privacy and confidentiality is not of her concern. My wife had only just entered the classroom when she began speaking, and even my mother-in law, who was there to pick up my son, was standing outside. The conversation was very one-sided, and we weren't given an opportunity to share our perspective. We were simply told that "your son can no longer come here." Straight up rejection from Mrs. Macias. It was upsetting to see our young son face the reality of being rejected and asked to leave a place where he was beginning to build relationships with classmates and teachers. We believe this was a difficult situation for him to understand at such a tender age. As a 20 year Airforce and Navy veteran, if I deploy, I want nothing but the security and safety of the love ones I leave behind while fighting for this country. It's very disappointing that a supposedly "Christian" school that should provide security and peace of mind when I leave my kid in their custody wasn't able to accomplish such an important task. After this experience, I will never ever be at peace leaving my kid on any school regardless of whether it's a Christian school or not. I have a lot of colleagues - Military and Christians - and I am not advising them to enroll their kids into South Hills' Pre-K program under Mrs. Macias. As of this moment, until changes are done with the Pre-K Program, enrolling your kid is not recommendable.

This review is for the Pre-K program, and I would strongly warn any parent considering this school…read moreto look elsewhere. My son started in July 2025, and at first, everything seemed fine. The previous Pre-K principal, Mrs. Ana, along with Mrs. Lisa and Ms. Brittany, were supportive and caring. Once Mrs. Macias took over in September, the entire environment changed--and not for the better. From that point on, parent concerns were dismissed, minimized, or completely ignored. It became very clear that administration would back staff no matter what, instead of addressing legitimate issues being raised. My son was in the Rainbow Room (2-3-year-olds), where a teacher, Karina Vasquez, was brought in. Almost immediately, I saw a negative shift in my son's behavior. He would come home saying, "She yells at me." No parent should ever hear that about someone entrusted with their toddler. In my experience, there was a serious lack of patience and an inability to appropriately handle very young children. What is even more alarming is that after my son left SHA and began attending Walnut Montessori, there was communication about him between Karina Vasquez. She used to work at Walnut and was talking to staff at Walnut about my son and saying very negative things. That is deeply concerning and raises major questions about professionalism and confidentiality. When this was brought up, the responses from administration were inconsistent and dismissive. Instead of accountability, there were excuses. The way discipline was handled was completely unacceptable. There was an attempt to suspend my 3-year-old child for over a week. A preschooler. Rather than working toward solutions or support, it felt like certain staff members were pushing to remove him altogether. There are also serious concerns about transparency. I was informed that classroom cameras either do not work or are not being used. For a school responsible for very young children, that is unacceptable. The overall culture felt toxic--favoritism, gossip, and protecting staff seemed to take priority over the well-being of the children. As a parent, I felt unheard, unsupported, and ultimately forced to remove my child for his own well-being. Do not be misled by appearances. Based on my experience, this is not a safe, supportive, or trustworthy environment for young children. Mrs. Macias is a horrible principal and Karina Vasquez yells at the kids and hates children. Parents if you feel this way as well and have children attending the pre-k side, report everything to the state licensing department.

They had a few bumps on the road when they first opened but they are open to recommendations and suggestions which is what I really appreciate. I think it says a lot when they can take suggestions and implement rather quickly. Also Miss Lizzy whom was at Little Seed is now here at KSA. She is really attentive and very thorough with school. If on a field trip-Miss Lizzy is active and always with the children watching their every step. If at school, Miss Lizzy is thorough with her teachings and makes sure you know the areas where a student might need additional help. She's really quite great at what she does. Other honorable mentions are Miss Angel and Mr Williams both great teachers. Miss Melody whom was helping for the summer has been Teddys teacher for over a year and she's a wonderful leader as well.

I feel relieved that my children can attend such a school.
