I just went a day or two ago and I am pretty pleased! I love their Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream! I think it's so good! I also decided to try a peanut butter milkshake, and I am SURPRISED! I think it was delicious! Very thick at first, but consider it was a 100 degrees out, so you could drink it pretty fast! I love how they actually scoop out the ice cream and mix it with milk and make the shakes there. I had no idea this was the same as the ice cream shop in Lewes (Also a King's) until reading the memorabilia on the wall! I think it's super cute in there and very nostalgic looking. However the ice cream is EXACTLY the same as the King's in Lewes, so I wouldn't venture all the way over to Milton just to see if it tastes different. I also wish that the employees wore gloves. But besides that, I think this is a great place to come! read more

Stopped by on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. It was not busy so the service was excellent. The store was clean and the samples we tried were all great. We decided to have waffle cones - had some black raspberry, chocolate, cookie dough and butter pecan. Everyone loved their choices. Lots of other flavors to choose from so looking to be back again. There is a decent amount of seating inside and also some seating along the side of the store. As much as I love Lewes I actually think that I will be coming here when I am craving some ice cream, easier to get to and much easier to find parking. I would suggest you give it a try! read more

We just love the Milton location! The college kids are always so friendly and are doing their best to make some extra $ through Summer and Fall. I support that! Anytime we go to dinner out this way, we stop here after. I always get sad in the late Fall when the hours change! However, I absolutely love when they bring the peppermint flavor in. It is so good. Driving home from the beach and there was a large accident so our GPS took us off Rte 1 and into Milton - which I have never passed thru before. As we drove thru the very old fashioned and renovated town we notice a cute little ice cream shop that had a lot of people in it and decided to stop in. It didn't seem like you could park on the main street in Milton so we turned down a side street and found parking there. The ice cream shop was so cute!! It looked like it has been there a long time bc they had olden time pictures on the wall - although I did not step out of line to get a good look at them. We were maybe 4th in line and the line moved relatively quickly. We got to the front and I saw that they offered tastings but I hate being that person who slows down the line for the people behind me so I just went w what soundeed good. I got a scoop of cookie dough (which only had one piece of cookie dough in the whole scoop) and butter brickle (to die for!!!!!! get this!!). The scoops were very large. My bf got 2 scoops of the black cherry - which he said was great. Prices seemed reasonable compared to where we live - however I imagine it is prob expensive for small town Milton. We sat on a bench out front, ate, and people watched before we headed on our way. The only downside is that there is no bathroom in the shop. Not sure if I'll ever be back in Milton, but if I am I will be sure to come back to Kings!! read more

I saw this spot after my visit to the local brewery and I thought "a hot day like today deserves some Ice Cream!" A smaller spot with some traffic but quite around 7:30 on a Friday evening. Has the feel of an old fashioned Ice Cream spot. Looks like their main location is in Lewes. Ordered a Chocolate and Coffee. Both were very good. Liked the Chocolate more than Coffee (needed a bit more flavor intensity) That said, the combo did hit the spot. Saw they also have Milkshakes, Sundaes and Banana Split. The ladies behind the counter were friendly and helpful. They've been around since 1972 so looks like a local favorite. If in the area, give them a try. read more

This is my third stop at an ice cream shop while wondering around southern Delaware. It's a quaint little place and the ice cream is good. I tend to like my ice cream on the hard side. This shop serves it a bit on the soft side. I lucked up and was able to park on the street right in front of the shop. There are a few tables inside and a few tables outside. I sat on the bench out front and people watched while enjoying my ice cream cone. read more

Ice cream is good and it gives small town ice cream spot vibes. Line is always a bit long and it is not the best location for forming a long line but it's worth it. A bit pricey, but I am willing to pay for good ice cream. I like the funfetti. I also like to browse the bookstore next door to wait for the line to die down :) read more

King's Ice Cream is the absolute best! Exactly what you would want from an ice cream shop and more! With friendly faces from the time you walk in to the wonderful farewells as you are leaving. My grandmother and I used to visit this shop each and every time we would go in town. There were always friendly college students working behind the counter and Mom or Pop King would be around to greet you. The store was so warm and cozy. I was delighted to see it still in business. Te ice cream at King's is on par with Breyer's or Häagen Dazs, but with more experimental, unique flavors. Definitely sample the flavors until you find one you really like; I tried the special Amber Caramel and thought it tasted like a candle! The Butter Brickle is nostalgia - inducing but too sweet to do a whole scoop of. I settled on and enjoyed a mix of Dutch Chcolate and Coconut, the latter of which was a teeny freezer-burnt but had lots of real coconut flakes. I've been a happy customer since 1978! Definitely worth a stop. This location is rarely as busy as the Lewes shop, but it's the same ice cream. This trip I tried their new Amber Caramel, made with wort from 16 Mile Brewery. I loved it. Even better with chocolate syrup. read more

I agree with Larry's review. We actually experienced the same service and quality at King's "Homemade" Ice Cream this past weekend. My husband and I were also there on Sunday evening (May 27). My mother and step-father recently purchased a coastal home nearby and we had passed by this ice cream parlor many times during the construction of the home and while moving, and decided we wanted to try out the little ice cream shop that looked so darling while driving by countless times. Bad move. We got there around 7:30 PM and there was only 2 customers in front of us, but it took forever to finally be attended. My husband and I wanted to be nostalgic and share a sundae. Bad move. The "small" sundae (that cost $4) should be called a mini or kid sundae. I kid you not, the sundae only had 1 and 3 quarters TINY scoops at most because the guy who was scooping could not scoop and like Larry said, he did not care. I asked for hot fudge, peanuts and a cherry on top. When we paid and I looked at the sundae, it did not have the cherry. I asked for it and the guy seemed like it was a huge deal (in other words, he wasn't pleasant even though I had made my request clear earlier). When we finally sat down to eat the mini/child size sundae, the peanuts were (super) rancid. I wanted to get back into line to complain but by then there were already a plethora of people waiting in line (and can you imagine how long that would have taken--see my experience above in just waiting for 2 customers). Whatever you do, do NOT go to this ice cream parlor. Save your time and money and buy a pint of fresher ice cream in the frozen section of your local grocery store. Mark our words, we will NEVER set foot in this parlor again or bring any friends when we are in town again. read more

Great little quaint ice cream shop that features Hershey's Ice Cream. Lot's of locals come in and it can get pretty crowded but the service is great, the ice cream is good, and the shop looks like a step back in history. I do a mix of chocolate and toasted coconut. read more

My husband and I visited this ice cream parlor on the evening of May 27th. We were more than disappointed after 20 years of summer ice cream stops, to have spent $9.50 for the smallest ice cream cones we have ever seen. It was obvious the young man working there had no idea how to scoop ice cream, or didn't care. The experience was so disappointing I felt compelled to write to the owners. On a positive note, Chelsea King promptly replied with genuine concern and excellent customer service. While I hope this is an isolated case, the Milton location,needs to "step up their game". The pictures on their web site in no way reflect what we received on Sunday evening. I would have given this zero stars, but the concerned and prompt reply from Chelsea King, shows they are committed to their customers. read more

I thought it was delicious! I got the mocha and my mom got the orange sherbet. Probably the best mocha ice cream I've had, and the orange sherbet was creamy like a dreamsicle. A little pricey, but the taste was there and the staff was very nice (and patient! It was our first time there and we took our time perusing the options). I would go again. read more
