I was in Lewes and I was looking for a place to get some dessert when I noticed King's. In light of this, I ordered a chocolate shake and it was decent. To clarify, the shake was definitely homemade, but it could have been better. To expand, the shake was very thin and didn't have enough chocolate. I like thin shakes, but they need to have a lot of chocolate or else it will taste like chocolate milk. In any case, the ice cream in the shake was homemade and it helped elevate the flavor. With that said, if the shake simply just had more chocolate, it would have been great. Essentially, King's Homemade Ice Cream is a solid dessert shop, but they have room for improvement. read more

The store is very small and unfortunately there were only two people working and a line out the door on a beautiful sunny afternoon. We were in and out in less than 5 minutes. They take credit card so you don't have to worry about thumbing through your cash. There was seating inside and outside. While it was much cooler indoors with plenty of tables open, we still opted to eat outside in the summer heat as it was a bit cramped inside. SO GOOD. I went twice in one weekend. I ordered the mint chocolate chip and coconut one evening, and butter pecan and coffee the next night - both in a waffle cone. Waffle cone was crunchy and tasted amazing. The mint chocolate chip flavor was delicious- it didn't have the artificial mint flavor I normally see at ice cream shops. Coconut was refreshing. Coffee had just the right amount of kick to it! Butter pecan was the most muted flavor compared to the other 3 I had but was still good. All the ice cream was creamy and smooth. The ice cream gets all the attention, but they used to have some of the best water ice I've ever had, too.
