I arrived @ 11pm and I'm not sure if the front desk guy just woke up or if he had been drinking. He was having trouble talking and standing. He asked me what I booked the room for and I told him, hethenproceeded to tell me that I hadn't paid for it yet (which I used my Google wallet to book the because it was priceline) but whatever I paid again. The room looked nothing like the pictures and was a non smoking room but smelled like a smoking room. It feels like a bed bug breeding area. There is a super 8 two minutes down the road, stay there :)

I mad a last minute decision to drive 3 hours at night rather than start out at 4am in the morning. Been there, done that, not a fan. I made the right decision. I checked in at 3:00am and the manager/owner slept in his office until I got there. That is going above and beyond! This is not a chain. It's a small family run operation and they have obviously spent a lot of time fixing this place up. Its the best $60.00 room you will ever see. The place is not new and there is a slight smell of age in the room, however the smell was just the old building smell. That cost them a star. However my room was immaculate and my mattress was awesome. I go to this festival every year and this motel is my new go to for lodging!!!!!

Me and my family are staying in the Big Cabin for spring break. It has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a…read morepool table, a hot tub and outdoor seating like rocking chairs and tables. I chose to sleep in a room upstairs, right across from the bathroom. It has a bunk bed and baby bed. I keep finding bugs in this room. I suspect they're flying ants. I laid my raincoat on top of the dresser and when I picked it up yesterday, there were 2 of these bugs. I had to shake the coat off outside and put it in the coat closet instead. Since then, I continue to find these bugs. They're not harmful to me, but one flew by me and it's quite unsettling. I'm afraid to sleep in here but I've got nowhere else to go, so I just have one of my parents walk in there with me to make sure there aren't any in the room so I feel okay to sleep. As of now we only have 2 more nights after tonight before we have to check out of the cabin, but I'm already wishing it away. I really like the pool table and hot tub though, and the bathroom situation is pretty decent. We are in the woods after all, so there's bound to be bugs but I do hate that they're mostly in the room I chose.

Also no paper towels or soap to wash things. Under the burners on the stove was old food which kind of grossed me out. The staff was pretty awesome and they cleaned the room every day...well....they swept and made the bed. I really enjoyed everyone I interacted with at the front desk. We had a bad bulb in the bathroom mirror so we took it out and put it on the bathroom counter so they'd replace it...nope, they just stuck the bad bulb back up in the fixture...wild! The bathroom door would not latch shut either. Not a big deal for us but worth mentioning. It's definitely older and a bit sketchy outside. Thanks to the Cookout next door you will constantly hear "can I take your oder". Also I learned that people love to rev their engines very loudly in the Cookout parking lot at all hours of the night. They have a little covered parking area by the office for motorcycles or Mustang bros, whoever gets there first. The ice machine and laundry are a couple doors down from the office. The ice scoop was dirty and disgusting. I don't think it's ever been cleaned. I went and got my own from my room. I would not stay here again. It was a bit expensive I think due to it being a suite, but next time I'd rather just stay at the Comfort Inn or somewhere for less money that's a bit cleaner.

I felt so at-home....the walls & beds were made of logs, furniture was hand-carved, original paintings on walls, and so much detail put into this place, I felt like it was a work of art... BEAUTIFUL place... The room was super-clean, and a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker were included. Best of all, there was also a back door opened to a beautiful creek with a patio and picnic table. I felt so welcome and so relaxed being there. $70 was a fantastic price for the value! I couldn't ask for anything better!!

We were able to call the owners and they either answered immediately or called us back to answer all of our questions. The cutest room was Critter Cove which had an additional crib sized mattress that wasn't included in the website description. The Bear Den has a glider rocker. Firewood was available to use in the fire pits at the restaurant in front of the Inn. We just used it and paid for it the next day. One caveat: the restaurant is only open for a few hours during lunch, even though they advertise being open until 7 pm. Plan to eat elsewhere if you arrive outside of lunchtime! We stayed for 2 nights instead of the 3 nights that we had reserved, and the owners quickly credited my credit card for the unused night. It was an all around good experience.

Con's: forest bugs are unavoidable if in season (lady bugs, stink bugs), the personnel is not proactive to take care of problems, rooms (with two queen beds) are on a smaller size and don't have much space to put your bags. We stayed for several nights in November of 2013. When we arrived to it in the evening of Wednesday, we were not warned of any problems. Once we moved into the room, we discovered first that it was infested with lady bugs (I could count more than 20). [If you never lived where lady bugs can be a problem, beware, - they are very annoying, as the land on you while you sleep. Actually, those are usually "Asian lady beetles" (orange and black variety). http://www.ladybuglady.com/LadybugsFAQ.htm ] Once I called the front desk, I've been told that indeed "some rooms have them", and they can move us into a different room. The other room initially had only a few of them, so, we decided to stay, as we were tired and had to wake up early. But in an hour, I could count more than 10. In addition to those, we found many stink bugs. When we tried to use the bathroom, it turned out that the hot water was absent. I called the front desk and was told that he circulating pump is having problems, and it turned off, but they can turn it on if I inform them after we are done using the water. Why weren't we informed about that when we moved in? We could have moved to a regular hotel in town. I asked if the hot water would be available in the morning, at 6am, the front desk lady assured me that it will be. In the morning we woke up to find out that there is not hot water and were told that the pump is not working. It was only next morning when I spoke to the manager when I learned that it was wrong information: the water heater was the problem. We also experienced that the mini-fridge was locked and the bathroom sink was backed up and filling up if the water was running for 30 seconds. So, in the combination of the evening and the morning, I reported all these problems to the same front desk person, who said the she will place a maintenance request. In the evening, we found that nothing (except for the hot water) was fixed, and the lady bugs were not vacuumed, as we were assured is being done every day. They did not even replenish the supplies of the shampoo, conditioner and the soap that I took with me in the hopes of catching a shower elsewhere during the day. I had to talk to a manager and to describe all the problems again. She apologized and told me that the lady-bug problem happens for the 2nd year, and they don't know what to do. She assured that the rest of the problems would be fixed as soon as they had access At the end of the day, we had an apology letter and a rather pitiful bag of a few things: 2 crackers (or mini-pretzels?) + 1-2 slices of cheese, 4 pieces of mint chocolates and two regular chocolate candies, two bottles of water, - a mixture of Halloween and wending machine leftovers. I would say that after a night without hot water and a big bag of problems, a self-respecting hotel manager would offer the night to be free. (I had a free night offered for much fewer problems elsewhere.)

A small restaurant and lounge. Super comfy leather chairs and awesome food and very generous cocktails. We stayed here because we came to see Herb Alpert at the Tennessee Theatre. We were standing at the valet station contemplating the 10 minute uphill walk to the theatre when offered to take us and then come pick us up!! Doesn't get any better than that!

I just walked into The Tennessean Hotel in Knoxville, TN, and I am already hooked on this place…read more The hotel has class, is in a great location, and the room décor reminds me of my stay at The Spectator Hotel in Charleston, SC, only without the bottomless gummy bears and chocolates that came with that room. This hotel is rated four stars, but everything about it, from the vibe you get when you walk in to the room décor, gives five stars. It is seven minutes away from downtown attractions. I highly recommend it.
