My son with special needs and I went to Kingvale and had a great time! The team was very kind and helpful; especially Will who helped my son with his fear of the magic carpet for the tubing. Will talked with Jake each time he helped Jake all the way up while I took the tubes up. The woman who was at the purchase window was very helpful and friendly. The guy at the parking lot booth was super friendly and cheerful as well! I love that the parking lot is not gigantic so you know you will get the opportunity to sled/tube a lot because it limits the amount of cars. We went the day before the big storm came through (avalanche a few miles away) so I can only imagine how incredible it is when there is abundant fresh powder! I highly recommend Kingvale! It is a great option for families because it's a smaller place but that is just why I loved it. You can pack your lunch and have a great day. It's so convenient to get to, right off the freeway! The pizza place in the parking lot was DELISH! The gas station attendant was super nice and some of the best hot chocolate I have ever had. Fantastic time!!! read more

Drove three hours for a birthday weekend just to be turned away at the parking lot. Can't do reservations and when you get there they rudely turn you away and tell you "we aren't a parking lot we're a ski resort" as if people come here just to use their parking lot. Obviously we were there to do fun activities but those are over priced anyways. It's very overpriced. $20 to park $25 per person to enter. Under 2 are free, this should in my opinion be 3 or 4 and under. There is hardly any regulating, so many aloof parents walk back up the sled path instead of walking up the correct path. This is the land of oblivious and aloof parents, so many kids play at the end of the sled run (standing in the way). Many of the sledding paths had divots. And they are all basically identical, would be cool if two of them were super long or something Idk overall it's pretty wack and price gouged. Think about it, a family of 5 has to pay $145 to sit on their own sleds to go down a hill a small hill. If a family of 5 goes and only 2 kids over age 2 sled, it still costs $145. It's hilarious cause at entrance they're like, "it's Disneyland rules everyone has to pay to enter" LOL at least Disneyland has a GD bench to sit on. The staff are friendly but you can tell in their voice and eyes that the place is a sad rip off. Definitely not recommending it to friends and family. read more

Horrible horrible experience my family and I verbally harassed by their employees for being in an area that was closed unknown to us as their were no signs up stating that that area was restricted. Their employee came up to my non English speaking family and continued to verbally abuse them word for word "what the fuck is wrong with you" "get the fuck out of here" and was saying a lot more I was walking up to him when I questioned him as to why he is cursing and he continued to walk away, coming from a dentist myself that is no way to communicate to another human. After driving for hours today looking for snow park in soda springs and drove up to truckee. Went back and forth on 80 frustrated, ended up here by accident and glad I did. Family had blast! A group of 10 adults + 6 kids (6 yr old + the rest 2 yrs or younger) headed up to Truckee for a day in the snow. We planned to stop at a random place to just play, but traffic was terrible with chain control checks. We were all restless in the car. A friend found this place on our drive up so we were aware of the $20 parking (although their website says $10) + $10 per person entry fee. We already had our own sleds, but they have plastic sleds for $25. They have both restrooms (with a space heater) + porta-potties in the parking lot, which was useful. We had already packed our lunch + snacks so we took a break + enjoyed it in the parking lot. The two hills were good enough for our very young ones. We also ventured past the fenced off area to free play + build a snowman in fresh powder. We were told that it was at our own risk + no one from staff would be checking on us or could help us with any problems, which we totally understood. This made for an ideal stop since there was fresh snow + a lower elevation. It served our purpose + everyone had a great time! read more

This park was the most disappointing snow trip I have ever had. Payed 10.00 and gat a ticket that said park and play at your own risk. Nothing mention to me by the attendant that there were more fees to come. Then 10.00 a person after I payed and walked to the hill. I payed due to Granddaughters excitement. We went down the hill 6 times and was told to get out they are closing. We were not there more than an hour. No refund or even an apology. This is a good spot for family fun. However I will say if you're going to charge 20$ parking and an additional 25$ per PERSON you'd think there would at least be a clean bathroom considering we're in a pandemic. Overall w/ the low reviews my family had a blast. I can totally understand why the ratings are low 1. Pay for parking $20 (no one maintaining the entrance to the parking lot) we purchased the early bird tickets from 9:30am-1pm and waited in line for over 30 mins and it did not move; we saw cars cutting and going to the opposite side of the entrance. It was past 10am and so we decided to skip the line and talk to the person working at the entrance. 2. $20-$25 per person to sled 3. Bring your own sled 4. Portable Pottys were not dirty (thankfully) when we arrived but it did not have soap dispensers, water, or any hand sanitizer. Instead it splat out some sort of black liquid (Gross!!) Circling around the parking lot I noticed many people were not social distancing, lines were not managed, and people (like me) who bought tickets on line once again waited 20 mins+ in a line that was for people who did not have tickets and are waiting in line to purchase. What's the point of asking customers to purchase tickets online to skip the line when there is only one line to manage, so unorganized and wasted a lot of time. FINALLY around 11am I asked if I was able to switch out our time since we'd only have 2 hours to play. Turns out the sledding area is not managed and once you're in you're in. No one really tracks your wristband and we were there til 4pm! Be cautious as there was no one social distancing and many were not wearing their mask! read more

This place was fun. They had several different slopes and wasn't overcrowded on the day we went but a friend of mine went a couple of days later and it was packed. The staff was friendly. They do charge $10 for parking and $10 per person but every place has to charge something to operate and to pay the staff. So if your gonna complain about their rates, stay home or go somewhere else. It was $20 per person according to the website, but when we showed up it turned into $25 per person with $20 parking on top. Despite the price, restrooms were like a war zone. Incredibly disgusting. At that price, a decent restroom or a porta potty that's not filled to the brim isn't too much to ask. It was pretty crowded during a weekday over the holidays and safety is a half hearted effort, so expect high speed collusions. They also lost track of how many people they had in the park, so they corralled everybody together and count to make sure they didn't exceed their "COVID capacity". I'm sure congregating park full of people bunched up together and making them wait around is a great health measure. Keep up the good work, guys! The sledding part was perfect for kids. A bit pricy at $25 per person during holiday vacation. The restroom was dirty and out of 3 sinks and soap dispensers only 1 worked. The paper towels were laying on a sink and not in the despenser. That meant during this time of Covid everyone had to pick up the roll. The place was fine until about 1 PM and then it got very crowded. When you go be sure to go early by 11:AM. Otherwise the kids had a great time. Parking is an extra $20. read more

This place is Sno good--it was an utter disappointment. It's set up so that you don't actually see the slopes until you've already paid for parking ($10). The sledding area was a let down, so bad that we didn't even bother to go in (another $10 per person!). I have no idea why this place is rated so low. Most likely because people either A. Came at a bad time when there hasn't been a lot of snow/good snow so they rate this place low like it's the places fault or B. People are cheap. We have always gone to Nyack Snow Park. Not anymore. Kingvale has perfect sledding areas for the kiddos and plenty of other of spots to play. While the pricing is a little steep ($20 for parking is a bit high + $10 per person) but I'd gladly come back and pay the same price (probably not more). Y'all, what's with the lack of love for this place? To those who complained about finding out about the per person fees,if you ask, the dudes they'll tell you right up front as you enter the lot. The minuses - Bathroom porta potties are disgusting. Yes. So true. For the amount of $ they are gouging us for, a flush toilet would be nice. - No amenities. No water, no picnic area. The pluses - it's the first snow/play area from sacto. - for city kids, heck, good enough! - we spent 2 hours sledding til our sled cracked, so you know we had fun. - snow! 3 hrs from home- yay, who doesn't love that? Lemons from lemonade people, it's $50 (kiddo plus "pedestrian" fee) for 2 hrs of tubing at Boreal's kid area, and there, the lines are muuuuch longer. You decide. Tip: download the waiver form beforehand and bring up to pay at the booth. Don't stand in line for the waiver. Just go to the kiosk for your wristband. read more

If not a magic carpet, at the very least a safer environment. Sledders regularly flew past the barriers and one little girl plowed right into my son (who was on the other side of the "safety barrier.") This place is literally just a hill on the side of the road that's covered in snow and these people are making a killing off of it. $10 a car plus $10 a person (and yes, you have to pay for 1 year olds!)! The guy at the gate was ridiculously rude. Cash only, and the gas station next to it has a sketchy ATM that wasn't working. So we got out happy butts back in the car and drove another 10 minutes up 80 and went to Soda Springs- a legit snow park that only cost us $30 more for the day, and they had real bathrooms and friendly staff. But, by all means, if you want to be talked down to by a douche on the side of the freeway who may or may not just pocket the cash you're handing him, Kingvale is the place to go! read more

We left immediately and asked for our parking money back since we had only been there five minutes. They refused. We'll never go back there. We stopped here on our way to Tahoe for the week. Without comparing the parks to anywhere else it's fine. When you compare this park to others you realize it lacks management and organization. It's $10 to park and $10 per person to sled which is on the low end of other parks. Parents need to take an active role in supervision because you can't doddle at the bottom of the slope or your kid will get slammed and hurt unintentionally by other sledders. A little bit out-of-the-way from Reno or Sacramento but you know what this was a fun place to find some snow and bobsled that are on well groomed and maintained runs. The whole family came here during the winter months while it was snowing and we had one of the best times we could ever have. There's plenty of parking in the main lot, once you get there you will have to walk a little bit to get to pay for the entry fee. The entry fee is not too cheap but is not bad either for what you get. The employees that we encountered were very friendly and helpful and guided us to the runs I thought would be more interested to us, we were able to enjoy the long sloping runs that they had available for us and really had a good time. Then we found the shorter runs with a little bit steeper angle and had even more fun, this would include sons knocking the data office sled as they're going downhill and watching him tumble in the snow as they are all laughing. Yes we know that most people want to find something without an entry fee, That is exactly what we were trying to do. But you know once we found this location this has been our go to spot and we continuously come here and enjoy tobogganing sledding and playing in the snow. read more

We had a blast here. Cheaper than Boreal, not too crowded, and the people seemed nice. We didn't try to use the port-a-potties because all port-a-potties are fundamentally disgusting.
