    Truly Y.

Such a beautiful place!! So many places to hike, bike and swim. Along with many Awsome lakes theirs a ton of hidden swimming holes all over.

No lights around beautiful night skies to star gaze

This could possibly be one of my favorite camping spots I've been to. Driving into the city is a breeze but make sure you have a van, truck, or large car that can pull all of your camping gear, passengers up that curvy and sometimes steep inclines. The ride up is a nice one though but, if you get motion sickness or decide to do heavy drinking the night before you have to leave, bring a bag when you make your descent down to town. We love coming here because they have a secluded area just for groups. That means, there is no curfew like other campgrounds. We usually stay by the river, although freezing during the time we go, the kids love it and it'll wake you up. If you're concerned about your kids or teenagers always being on the phone have no worry. There is absolutely no reception up there. If you're looking for a fun secluded camping trip for your family, friends, or both, Tahoe National Forrest is it and where you want to be. If you're not into camping but love boating, there's a dock where you can go to also there's plenty of trails to hit up. There are wild animals so, be aware of your surroundings. The campground provides you with antibear storage for your food but, we haven't seen any bears yet from all the times we come here but, there are plenty of deers.

Simply put? A real life postcard photo. Regardless of the season, when you pass through, you'll think you've been transported to someplace that couldn't possibly exist. That's how beautiful this National Forest is. Plenty of lakes, both large and small, hiking for everyone, sno-parks, campgrounds galore, natural made beauty and even hidden treasures you can only find by exploring the nature around you. We found a motivational sign and a weird little tiki type head! I'm sure there's so much more out there. TNF is huge, spanning 6 counties, so who knows what all you can find out in those mountains. Definitely agree with stopping at the photo vistas! They have some of the best views for photo ops and selfies. But leave your selfie stick at home folks, that's rude..oh ya, and beware of the 5-0...they like to get you on that curvy, winding road(*_*) There's no wi-fi out here, but the connection you'll find is greater than that of any signal tower. Breathtaking. Inspiring. Beautiful. Get off your couch and go explore! I recommend a hike to any of the locations on the Pacific Crest Trail.

The Donner Summit is significant because it was the location where the Donner Party struggled to survive the winter in 1846-47. Background On Visit: Might as well visit the place if i'm already in the area. Location/Parking: The bridge is located on Donner Pass Road and is next to Donner Lake Overlook. There's parking before the bridge and if parking has been taken, you can park over at the Donner Lake Overlook. Ambiance/Decor: Nice ambiance with great views of Sierra Nevada Mountains and Donner Lake. You can also visualize how tough it was for the Donner party to maneuver through the tough terrain with the freezing temps. Luckily on the day that I visited, the weather was absolutely beautiful and there was some snow that hasn't melted on the Sierra Nevada mountain. Donner Summit Bridge For Thought: I would like to come again and drive on the bridge.

Donner Pass Road is a scenic road that runs through the Sierra Nevada mountains between Truckee and Reno NV. As we arrived at the bridge we pulled off onto the parking lot on the side and enjoyed stunning views of the mountains, Truckee River and Donner Lake below. A plaque on the bridge read "Dedicated to the pioneers who blazed the overland trail through these mountains." This beautiful bridge was restored in 1995 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Review #3558
