One of their staff came out to help and assured us they didn't think it would be a big deal. It happened again, and we had to get towed back. It took 10 minutes to get ahold of the "emergency line". When we got back to the dock, we circled around for 30 minutes and we were well ahead of our 4 hours. They didn't want to offer any sort of refund and when my husband pushed for one, they said "if it's going to hurt the holiday, we can try to do 10 percent." They had their information completely wrong and then called us to come back after we had left because they had accidentally refunded the whole thing. We could have just let them deal with their mistake but we came back and they still messed up the refund. They were also were ok with letting the next group go on a boat that clearly has safety issues.

Great for swimming, boating, and camping. If you are going for day use, get there early preferably before noon. Parking is limited. The area where we parked only had space for less than 20 cars and that's parking creatively to fit all 20. Bring a portable grill because there are plenty of picnic tables but limited number of grills and they are not always near the tables or clean. I hate sharing food with bugs so we placed our canopy with a mesh screen over one of the picnic tables where we had our food. The spot we were at had some, maybe around 5-10 that I could see, unwanted winged visitors but it was tolerable. The drive was not bad. There are areas where the road is winding but not too steep. Not a lot of oncoming traffic and there were also few cars heading the same direction as us. We went on a Saturday and once we passed Sacramento traffic to Yuba County was light. I would have given this place 5 stars if the grills were more accessible and the toilet area did not smell like a toilet area.

Our family recently got kayaks, and it's nice for the boys (both 7) to have a place without a ton of people, boaters, or obstacles to maneuver around. We took I-80 to HWY 89 North at Truckee. One left onto Jackson Meadows Rd from 89 takes you right to the reservoir, campgrounds, and boat launch. There are vault restrooms that are good for what they are. The road just after where you cross the dam is definitely bumpy - go slow. The signs to the boat launch are helpful! Launch use is $5 and there is a parking lot just up the hill from where you put your water craft in. We felt fairly accomplished (compared to when we've kayaked Tahoe, for example) because there were parts of the reservoir we could cross from one side to another. That was fun! Plenty of beach-like spots to stop and you may even come across some rocks good for jumping off! We saw plenty of wildlife including a water snake (so keep your eyes peeled!). Everyone we passed was pleasant and chatted. We also saw many types of water sports - kayaking, SUPing, water skiing, seadoos, etc.

Anytime I'm outside I'm happy, and hiking this trail was no exception…read more The trail to Mount Lincoln starts behind the Summit Haus. Park along Donner Pass Rd, it's a short walk down a paved road to the trailhead and there's a restroom. This trail is thankfully well-maintained and is partially shaded, but don't forget your sunscreen. There are a few spots where it's rocky and the final climb to the peak is really steep, so if you've got treking poles I'd bring them. Overall it's a moderate trail. You're predominantly on the PCT on this one, and the turn to the right for the final incline could be missed by some, so hopefully the cairn I left will help someone else. Only time will tell. Make sure you check out the Roller Pass overlook that's part of the historic Hwy 40 Scenic Bypass. It is absolutely nuts to think that some pioneers pulled their covered wagons up the side of this ridge. Check it out.
