Never met her. A fellow and a resident came in. Explained I was in horrendous knee pain. Ordered x-rays that were not approved of. No one gave any other suggestions about what was to be done if anything. That was an absolutely wasted time and money. I have had knee problems for 40 years and at times have been to physical therapy etc or given something like meloxicam but absolutely zilch. Dr.Patel is a liar, a Butcher & a Back Staber ( literally). She deceived me into having a "Mild Procedure" to remove a piece of my L4/L5 herniated disc that was pressing against my spine. She let one of her groupies , play doctor with my body. I felt like a piece of meat being devoured by a bunch of Hienas. They poked my spine. It was like a horror movie. I never felt so much pain in my life. I am still feeling the pain one month later. Now I am feeling worse than before the surgery. She charged my insurance $30,000. I suffered with intense pain due to severe spinal stenosis and was (reluctantly) considering a lamanectomy and fusion. Then I met with Dr Patel who is persistent and amazing. The MILD was the first intervention: unsucessful with me. Then i had an unsuccessful epidural. On the third attempt I had a transformainal epidural steroid injection and voila- it is three weeks since this proceedure and and my life is 90% better. I will have another transformainal epidural steroid injection when/if the pain intesifies. Bravo! Dr patel is caring, careful, kind and SMART. I am so lucky I found her! read more

was recomended to me by a surgeon who looked at my spine MRI,and the pain I was in, in front of him. He explained the pros and cons to me of a surgery. I was In extreme pain from a herniated disc and bulging disc. I was in so much pain I couldn't walk or stand up, could not sleep through the night. I choose to try pain management first. Based on where my pain was and reviewing my MRI DR Patel administered epidoral injections about 2 weeks apart. Over the following five days after the first injection I was able to stand up and walk with greatly reduced pain, with in a Few days after the 2nd injection I was 95 % pain free. After two months of PT I was playing golf, kayaking, pretty much back to normal, with caution. After 5 months (had to wait for snow) I was skiing. A year and half later I was 100% and stopped being cautious. just short of 2 years later I reinjured myself lifting weights and working out(not being cautious) . Two injections and two weeks later I am on my way to being pain free, this time I will continue PT and be cautious. She is a great and caring doctor who explained every detail to me. She was realistic in telling me this does not fix herniated disc, stenosis, etc, but could calm down the nerve. It was up to me to be cautious and have a pt/workout regiment (to strengthen my core and back to protect my damaged spine) and to live pain free. Thank you Dr Patel !! read more

She didn't even do any kind of physical exam first time I saw her, just seem to be very rushed, having just performed a procedure..very limited privacy while waiting for a procedure... I have been seeing Dr. Patel for about a year and a half now and frankly, she is amazing. Not sure about the experiences others have had whom have written bad reviews, but I have NEVER had a bad experience. I have a herniated disc in my neck which often flares up and causes me severe pain in my arms. After seeing countless doctors (most of whom told me to just "take advil") Dr. Patel was the ONLY doctor who actually provided me with REAL treatment that decreased my pain and improved my quality of life. She sat with me and took her time explaining my options. During my epidural procedure she talked to me the entire time and told me exactly what she was doing. Karin Patel doesn't review any important information! Patel sent a patient I know for an an mri with contrast and requested the wrong type of mri! Now the patient has to redo another mri with contrast. She recommends mri's when instead she should say that the patient should visit a specialist to make that type of determination ! Patel's clinic is the worse clinic I've ever dealt with--always a minimum 2-hour wait time from my appointment time, whether via in-person or telemed visit without any form of communication during my long wait despite their existing electronic communication system. I have 25 years of medical history going to other numerous doctors/specialists/facilities and never had this experience with them. I'll be looking for a new pain management doctor. read more

Omg. Worse doctors office I've ever been seen at. They do not answer phones, ever. This is pain management clearly patients are in significant pain and it's up to the staff to make it happen & help the patient. I have horrible sciatica, I'm only in my early 30s, I do prior authorizations for a living as well. I called my insurance company to see the status of my prior auth for my epidural and my insurance company said no prior auth had been started. I called the doctors office for days on end with no answer and several messages were left. When I was finally able to get someone on the line (about 9 days after my appt) I asked the prior auth woman what the status of my auth was and she said pending little did she know at that moment I had already reached out to insurance and there was NO prior auth on file. I was so disgusted I wiped my hands with this office and decided to just seek help elsewhere. I left a voicemail on their phone saying how screwed up it is they have no heart leaving their patients in pain. Horrible. I blocked the office phone # and now all the girls do is call and harass me. Pretty sure they know they're blocked. I believe one of them even called me on her cell phone & left me a message regarding an appt, but my very solid gut feeling told me these women are bored and want an argument. Not gonna happen. WHOEVER IS IN PAIN AND NEEDS TO SEEK PAIN MANAGEMENT EVEN IF YOU ARE LIMITED W INSURANCE IE; MEDICAID...DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE!! You will get nothing accomplished. I received my 2nd epidural injection at this place, and my pain increased rather than decreasing. I had a herniated disc in my L4-L5 region, and was in a lot of pain. I didn't like Kiran's attitude, as she spoke as if she was something amazing. I also thought that the male attending physician was incredibly impersonal. He didn't look or speak to me, and the second that I came back to consciousness, after waking from the anesthesia, he said "OK GET UP." I literally felt like a chicken being processed, and that made me very angry, because I felt like I was nothing more than a number, and that they were ONLY thinking about money, because the faster they got rid of me, the faster they brought in the next patient and made more money, so my comfort was of ZERO importance. To make matters worse, my herniated disc pain increased after receiving my steroid injection here. Before my 2nd epidural steroid injection, I was able to lie down with no pain, but after this 2nd epidural steroid injection, I had pain EVEN when I was lying down. I wish I would've never come here. I should have just taken my Curcumin, which is an extract of Turmeric, which REALLY HELPS, and is natural. I also take enteric coated Bromelain, which is a pineapple enzyme that decreases inflammation and leads to pain relief. What the hell was the point of coming to this place, wasting hours of my time, wasting money, having to tolerate the attitude of 2 insecure physicians, and receive a steroid injection, if it DID NOT HELP & MADE MY PAIN WORSE??????????????????????? It was a COMPLETE waste of time & money. I don't recommend this place to ANYONE. They have a ton of unnecessary attitude, and NO bedside manner. They get a score of (F-) from me. What a horrific experience! She kept me waiting 1.5 hours in significant pain before being seen for my 1st visit. Despite sending an email packet 5 days in advance with a detailed cover letter, new MRI and PT treatment plan from my former doctor, Dr. Patel and her staff seemed to know nothing about me. While I didn't disagree with her assessment of my condition, her attitude was arrogant, and at times antagonistic, as she rushed through my appointment. She made little effort to understand my 25+ year successful herniated discs' treatment history which included physical therapy, heat & tens unit stimulation, traction, injections and medications. I can't believe how dismissive, arrogant and rude this doctor and her nurse practitioner were to me, not to mention the more than one hour wait to see them on my first appointment. They grilled me about the medication I took, but they did not ask me a single question about my pain or health. I came a half hour early to fill out the paperwork and told them so, yet they blamed me for their lateness in seeing me and never backed down. Dr Patel's vocal tone was harsh, cold and rigid. Her behavior plus the more than 2 hours in the office altogether left me quite upset and uncomfortable. She knew absolutely nothing about me--nothing at all. From looking at my medications, she made assumptions. Her assumptions could not have been more off base and, even if they were all true, with her manner, she should be looking for a job that does not include working with the public. JASON, FROM HER OFFICE, contacted me here more than 2 months later. I replied here, but it does not appear, so I am adding my reply to my review. Jason, I gather you chose this public forum for your response for a reason, to demonstrate concern. I wrote a letter to the head of your clinic telling what had happened to me, but you are not responding to that or I wouldn't be seeing it here. In fact, no one responded to that. Just so you know, what happened next confirms all I've said. My previous pain doctor left the Sinai practice and referred me to someone with poor reviews. I called your office and asked for the next appointment which brought me to Patel, After this disturbing event, I opted to go to the head of Pain Management at Sinai, Lawrence Epstein, M.D. where my former doctor had practiced. Epstein was alarmed when he viewed my records. Rather than treat me like a junkie seeking to pull one over on him, as Patel did, he asked me to go home, count how many pills I had left and bring them in. I called the next day to say I stopped counting at 260, and I brought in nearly 600 pills (NOW MIXED WITH USED KITTY LITTER IN SOME UNNAMED DUMP--MOREOVER, I AM OFF THEM). The doctor I had trusted after being hit, as a pedestrian, by a taxi, was over prescribing, I kept telling him but he didn't listen, he never gave me any hope of improving or even spoke to me of such a thing. Dr Epstein saw me on time, exhibited a professional demeanor and treated me decently. Again, I am off those pills now, off off off. I was certainly disorganized. I threw pill bottles in a drawer and forgot about them. But, I had absolutely no idea anything was wrong, especially very very wrong--as in, I trusted my doctor, and he failed me. So did Dr Patel. She made assumptions, kept me waiting hours and then treated me rudely--she was condescendingly cruel. Might I add this; had I been that junkie that she was so sure I was, her treatment of me was still unacceptable. Healer, she is not. We were seen at the Long Island office and Dr. Kiran Patel and her staff was very professional. The first appointment the wait was long. However, we realized it was because she spends a lot of time with each patient including my mom who has a lot of health issues and pain. She was thorough when going through her medication history and appreciated that she wasn't just pushing pain pills. She sent her for an MRI and when we returned for the second visit she had a plan. Her and her medical assistants and nurse practitioner seem very caring and thorough. Also the office is very clean and nice. I would definitely recommend this doctor! read more

The employees are rude and completely useless. I had an appointment for 2:45, which I called in a day in advance to confirm a day in advance . I came in at 2:30 and waited till 4:30 to see a doctor just for 3 minutes. When I asked why it's taking so long, the receptionist rudely answers that they are double booked and it's not in her hands. Dr.Kiran Patel is the best.I have cancer of the bone imbedded in the arteries and nerve in t the brain I have had therapy, electro acupuncture , the best was my neurologist refer to Dr.Kiran Patel beside being beautiful she is very intelligent and will go out of her way to listen and study your pain. I've been going to the Spine & Pain Institute for more treatment for spinal stenosis as well as chronic lower back pain. I've been going to Dr Patel for almost a year and I have to say she is very rude, quite arrogant, unprofessional and seemingly racist and prejudice. I observed her talking about patients who were on Medicaid as if they were less than and I was utterly appalled at her tone, use of language and demeanor. I was shocked and dumbfounded to see how this "professional" carried herself and felt at a loss re: my service provider Dr Patel. I've also sat in that middle room on many occasions before going in for my procedures and I began to notice that she was really full of herself as she walked passed the patients who were there waiting on their procedures... she always walked by with phone in hand and head down in a sort of a rude & uppity manner. I thought it was rather strange as all patients were hers and yet she seemed cold and uninterested in interacting with any of us . I also noticed that when she was asked questions wether it was by myself or someone else it was almost as if u we're bothering her and she was doing u a favor by engaging with you. I honestly believe that Dr Patel has forgotten that she's a minority who simply happens to have an office on 5th Ave... and I clearly believe that her license should be pulled and she should have her practice close down and I don't say this lightly . I feel that people who go into the healthcare field have a duty and responsibility to not only uphold the ethics that their place of employment have but I believe that it's important to be a DECENT human being and I can honestly Day that Dr Patel is a horrible , racist , bigoted woman !! I've been seeing Dr. Patel for over 3 years, post a "failed back surgery" that left me with RSD and other nerve and pain issues. Dr. Kiran is one of the most caring, professional, knowledgeable physicians I have ever seen in the pain management field. I've had to wait, but I plan for it. That's because she and her staff of other doctors, are spending time with others the same way she has spent her time with me. I have never had a problem, she has always listened to me, taking care to understand exactly how I feel and know what is going on. I've seen other pain mgmt. doctors prior, and post (insurance changed) and went right back to Dr. Patel - running back actually. Her office staff is competent, caring and professional as is Dr. Patel. We've had a very easy patient doctor relationship, even e mailing questions, and responding to text messages. This is not an easy industry and I can imagine some people are put off by clinical professionalism. I think she is terrific and would recommend her to anyone. read more
