I called in complained and they just blew me off, not good, when the did come back they said they would be back to finish tomorrow, 2 days to do 2 small room and stairs, smh. The next day they returned and did the same thing, left the poor guy here to do all the work, come to find out it was the older gentlemens son, he had remarried to a young girl and they all ways do this to them. What who they give you to install your carpet. not good.

They came out, (at no cost to me) And did an awesome job on my rugs and carpet! The two young men they sent out were personable, professional, and made sure I was satisfied before they left. I am very appreciative and I recommend them if you needed great carpet cleaning at a reasonable price!

It makes me really sad to be writing this review. During the huge April 2025 rainstorms (review…read morewritten in March 2026) this company was recommended to us by our insurance agent when we had some flooding in our basement and we needed mitigation. Our experience started out great but then turned into a nightmare. When we first called, I really appreciated the sense of urgency that they worked with. They came right away and were able to rip up the carpet and the drywall as needed to get the space dried up. This is the extent of my positive experience with them. We offered them the reconstruction project, asking if they could work with the remainder of the insurance money we had, with some flexibility as needed. Since I was so grateful for the work they did on the mitigation, I told them to not worry about the timeline, that we wouldn't rush them. This came back to bite me hard, since all the employees that were sent a) did a laughably mediocre job, b) were crying, demanding to be paid in full when the work was nowhere near done, c) were incapable of accurately communicating when they would be over to do work, causing me to miss meetings and medical appointment while I sat at home waiting for them to not show up. This entire saga dragged on for literally nine months, and all of this was while I was pregnant. I understand I gave flexibility with timing, and some with budget, but nine months of empty promises and blowing the budget with BS rework is unreasonable by any standard. The business owner, for months, repeatedly apologized and promise to make it right. I understand some of the circumstances were out of his control, but again, 9+ months of dragging out a simple drywall and flooring project for us who has given them all the grace in the world is disappointing and unacceptable. It ended with me texting him to just forget about everything, that we will learn our lesson, take our fat L, and just hire someone reliable. It was upsetting, frustrating, but fitting that this last message didn't get a reply or an acknowledgment. The ironic part is that we are in the market for a carpet cleaner, and we would love to go with someone local. Shoot me recommendations!

The first time, about a year ago, the person I spoke with was rude and argumentative. When I asked about scheduling someone to come diagnose the issue, I was told they needed to speak with the owner and would call me back. I never received a return call. I recently decided to give them another chance, but the experience was no better. When I asked for even a general timeframe for service, the response was dismissive and unprofessional -- essentially, "it'll happen when it happens." Poor communication and rude customer service make it hard to understand how they continue to stay in business.

I also think if you go into Skipper's with a pleasant and reasonable attitude you will receive that in return. I've had weekly, biweekly, opening and closing services. I've had 2-3 trouble/service calls. I think the front office and pool service staff have all been really kind, hardworking people. Most of our business in the beginning was also impacted by Covid/shortages and staffing challenges. I felt they were always upfront, apologetic and honest about the status of things. I've witnessed a ton of customers coming in and getting very unreasonable and often not even listening when the staff is trying to help them. Most of these reviews are really old. Skippers is not that bad!

Haven't been able to confirm whether they're locally owned or not. I've been in a few times before reviewing, once just to check it out (as it appears lots of folks are doing - foot traffic has been fairly heavy for a small town, smallish footprint shop), twice to pick up items on my way home from my office, and once to take advantage of their BOGO interior Valspar paint deal (available until 3/21!) For a smallish, though typical Ace-sized store, they cover the basics well. I've found what I needed for minor electrical repairs, heavy duty cleaning products, a couple of replacement fasteners, odd-shaped light bulbs, and a couple of yard cleanup tools. They are definitely in "opening" mode, with staff still training, but what they may lack in know-how, they make up for in friendliness and trying to provide a level of customer service you don't get elsewhere. I've watched them take their time to talk to customers about their specific needs and make product recommendations, as well as reminding folks buying, say, paint, to take a look at specific areas for project accessories. I appreciate their help not forgetting the little things that make home improvement projects turn out better, quicker, or less messy. Store is well-organized, new, and all of my items have had shelf prices that matched their scanned price, including no problems with special offers or Ace coupons. On the downside, not affecting my rating, but just a general warning: while the location is convenient for those who live in Etown city limits, there's no avoiding the terrible drivers that seem to plague this particular strip mall. The number of times I've watched drivers nearly plow into for-sale items on the walkway or stored (like mulch) in fenced areas of the parking lot is only matched by the number of times I've watched drivers nearly plow into actual human beings or other cars. Most of the lot "signage" (lines, and directional markings included) is only on asphalt and very faded, but that's no excuse for drivers who are completely oblivious to others, right of way, or how the properties of basic physics function on planet Earth.
