I hate buying bras. I *think* I know my size so I grab as many as the changing room will allow and they all look terrible so I have to put all my clothes back on and go out and try again. No two brands, not even two styles of the same brand, fit the same. It takes hours and most of the time I leave with nothing. Some say life comes down to time or money. Ruth will save you time and her expertise and inventory are worth every penny. Let's talk about expertise first. I live in Maine now but I made a special trip to see her a few days ago to get another t-shirt bra (that thing is AMAZING) and another "pretty" bra because I'm in town. She had my info on file from my last visit, which is lovely and does save time, and she assured me that she could send me what I need, wherever I am. At my previous visit (circa late 2019-early 2020) she noticed I'd lost weight since 2017 and tore up my old card and we started all over fresh - except she remembered me - which totally surprised me - she has hundreds of clients! Did you notice how many years in-between visits? The brands she carries are superb quality. I take care of them, sometimes washing with the soap she recommends, sometimes throwing them in the washing machine (but never the dryer), and they LAST. OH! This might be a tad personal for a Yelp review, but I would never, ever, in a million years, have thought to try the sizes she suggested, but she knows boobs and now mine look fabulous. I love Ruth so much that when a friend came to visit I told her that if she did NOT go to visit her she was wasting a trip to Richmond. After weeks of telling myself I needed a new bra, I finally went to Kiss and Make Up. I had been once before when I needed a strapless bra for an evening gown. Ruth, the shop owner, was extremely attentive and had me try on several different sizes before we settled on a perfect fit. I walked out feeling like a million bucks. This remains my absolute favorite place to buy lingerie ever. I have a large bust (H) and unlike most establishments, I can always find something both functional AND beautiful here. That's hard to come by! Today I walked out with no less than FOUR bra and panty sets that all fit me beautifully and are absolutely gorgeous. Ruth, the owner, is so incredibly helpful. She keeps records of your purchases, so she can quickly pull a bra you've bought before and liked or at know what sizes to pull for you to try on something new - she also knows the styles that you like and work well for you this way. Thanks to her amazing attention to detail and insistence that you get bras that will fit you properly, I have basically conquered the back and shoulder pain that used to plague me due to my large bust and inadequate support. Where do I start with Ruth?? As others stated, she can guess your size just by looking at you. No more endless trips to the dressing room, trying on what you think will look good but just doesn't quite cut it; she is simply an expert in her profession who knows her inventory well and will only bring what will work for you. Just trust her and you will not be disappointed! Expect to be patient! This lady is highly sought out and the word has spread, judging by the steady stream of people I encountered on a Saturday afternoon right up until the 5pm closing (I came around 3:30 but waited my turn and she didn't rush me, bringing 5-6 items she wanted me to try) Her prices are very reasonable,be sure to follow her on FB/IG as she posts specials. I got an amazing bra for around $60 (the same as the stores with teenage sales people who measured me 2 cups less than I actually am) and it also comes with a 3 year warranty. Although if you were to have an issue Ruth would take care of you. Her personalized service and expertise are top notch. Even when the store is packed she makes you feel like the VIP. She hand writes a personal card for you, noting your size, purchases and birthday. I can't say enough about her warm personality, and that of her sweet mother. It's the perfect place to go for you girls with hard to find or in between bra sizes. I didn't know I was wearing the wrong size for years until I came here and found out what a world of difference proper sizing makes! ( CORRECT sizing, not the 'almost' or 'close enough' sizing they sometimes give you at Victorias Secret). What a wonderful place! Bra fitting is an art--you owe it to your breasts to consult an artist. I have never before owned a bra in my true size--she has all the sizes :) including small bands (smaller than 32) and bras for women of all shapes and sizes (including my 27-inch ribcage). She found my size range right away and was patient as I tried on about 10 different styles. I cannot wait to go through a day without having to fuss with my bra in order to keep it in place. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, this place is also a good choice for you--it is even more important to have the proper size, fit, and type of bra during this life stage when lymphatic flow and breast care are so crucial. DO NOT GO THERE... Had my gf go there and get fully measured/fitted before I arrived so I could give description of what I want for her and "easily" see if was her size or not. I am a man and we men like for this to be easy... I thought the ground work was laid... after a couple of phone call narrowing choices down we chose a couple to have ready i could see then pay for... Upon arriving she informed me she had pulled the wrong customer card so everything we spoke about was irrelevant. OK will this fit her??? Sure but whats her weight, shirt size, and pants size.... Seriously I'm a dude and wasnt she naked in your store for you to do fitting??? Yes but I only have cup size written down... ok but she had a fitting?!?... yes but I only have cup size written... she then decided to make me feel like garbage for not knowing all of the details... alas she needs to actually be professional and take more notes!!!! I refused to pay without knowing that its perfect fit and told her my gf would call back to confirm size... so after having said gf call her back indeed that wasn't even close to her size so after finally properly selecting something for her my credit card was charged twice without my knowledge... there is a reason this is a little shop with little stock.... go to taboo or pricillas if you want real customer service this owner operator is clueless read more

Hands down, this is the best lingerie-buying experience I've ever had. Ruth is amazing -- friendly, professional, and excellent at what she does. I'm petite and curvy and was worried I would be hard to fit, but she always has tons of options. If I could give this business zero stars I would. The owner and her staff are incredibly rude and have no comprehension of good customer service. I spent over $400 there in one month on bras and tank tops, but decided to return one of the tank tops. When I went back to return it (tags on, never worn, perfect condition), the store owner and her mother treated me like a criminal because there was some lint on the tank top and they said they couldn't accept it until I rolled it off. Then they asked me if I let my pets sleep on the shirt. When I expressed my horror over how they were treating me, the owner made a point of saying that "$400 spent in her store was nothing". I've never been back since and never will. I'd recommend staying away unless you like being insulted while overpaying for lingerie. read more

It's weird to say I enjoyed a bra fitting, but Ruth really made it easy! Her shop is small and cozy, so I didn't feel overwhelmed or awkward at all. It turns out I was wearing a completely wrong size, and my old bra was too old to be doing much good anymore. She had me try on a few different styles and sizes until we found one that fit right and was comfortable. Ruth was friendly and personable, and really connected to me as a person and not just as a customer to fit. Stay away! The sales woman, Ruth, is pushier than a too tight push up bra and she is rude. I went there with a friend to look for bridal lingerie. Another sales woman took me to the bathroom, slammed the door in my friend's face, and told me to take everything off. She stared at me and said I was a 30DD bra size...she didn't even measure me. I have been measured at three different reputable lingerie shops and all of them (actually) measured me at a 34C. I even went to a different lingerie store right after to do some "research". The whole experience made me really uncomfortable. They brought me a "DD" bra to try on an it fit, except it was exactly the same cup size as the bra I took off...I compared. It could have easily fit inside of a true DD bra. Basically, they lie to you about your bra size telling you that you are skinnier and bustier than you really are and then pressure you into buying something. They aren't even above belittling you and raising their voices when you challenge their "knowledge" even though I did so politely. read more
