I have been at this location many times over the years. It's currently being renovated and upgraded physically. I wonder about their product. i felt like a cold one on a hot summer day. I bought a 22 oz Miller High Life. Not an exceptional beer, granted, but it will give you what you want after a bit of a sweat. UNLESS, it is stale. I took two sips I could not continue. I gave it to a homeless alcoholic outside my building. He spat it out and cursed me out. How long has this can been in inventory? Tasted like years. It's not wine. beer gets profoundly worse with age. Kissena Bev is not air conditioned. That beer outside the cold case is being degraded sitting in the heat. No excuse for selling STALE beer, poor knowledge of their product and lack of proper handling. None. read more

Been going to this store for many years. When checking out my purchase of two cases of beer I provided my debit card. The desk where the device was where you use your card and then put you pin into was in the front of the store. After flashing my card over the device and then putting in my pin number i glanced above me. Not four feet above me was a camera that was pointed down on the counter. It recorded both my number off my debit card and my pin number that I manually put into the device. Since no one was around me at that time I didn't think that I should need to be careful when putting my Pin number into the device. When I asked the owner why a camera was recording at such a close proximity she told me it was to record cash transactions. I then told her that it was also recording both my debit card number and my pin number. She told me the camera would not be able to see my numbers. I then informed her that I am an electrician. That I have installed many cameras in the past and know that a camera four feet away can see every detail. She then got defensive and started raising her voice. I went home and cancelled my card. Now I have to wait a week for the bank to send me a new one. Will absolutely never go to this store again !!! read more

Had it not been for a search for cases of beer on Yelp, I am almost certain I would've never checked this place out. So many other places were limited with the Asian beer imports, but low and behold Kissena Beverage had everything I was looking for. The place looks like a cross between an auto shop and Costco (interior only), with a certain level of grittiness and is very easy to miss if one isn't looking hard for a sign. The staff primarily deals with Chinese speaking patrons, hence English isn't their strongest language. That said, don't expect quality customer service. If you're able to speak a few words in Mandarin to smooth things out, then I would recommend going that route. The prices are definitely good for wholesale. The selection is key for places like this, where I was able to find a decent selection of craft beers and more importantly, a stellar inventory of Asian imports (Tsingdao, Taiwan Beer, Hite, etc.). I called ahead of time and was able to confirm everything I needed. Reserving my cases ahead of time was a real time saver and the staff was kind enough to help me load everything in my rented vehicle. There aren't enough places like this. I expect that I'll be back the next time I'm looking for international beers at affordable prices. read more

From the outside it looks like a dingy beer warehouse, but inside my first impression was that it was an even dingier beer warehouse. The sound of glass crashing from the people depositing their glasses. The giant cooler full of cheap beers. I was pretty certain I was led astray in finding good beer here. I was about to give up after looking around a few aisles but you turn the corner and there's a COSTCO like shelf filled top to bottom of craft brews, at the end of that aisle are two more shelves of bombers of beers. The prices here are pretty reasonable too. I've seen similar items priced a dollar or two higher elsewhere In addition, while the nice, older Korean lady is ringing you up you can look at the back wall and see the bottles of Sam Adams' Utopias that they have available for sale. read more

When I want something different from the average Budweiser or Heineken I can count on Kissena Beverage to try something new or to have something that I can't find at Rite Aid . It's not the biggest beer distributor but it's the closest one to the area so for convenience it's definitely our go to spot. The prices are decent and there's a good selection of beers to choose from. So whether you need to refill the fridge with beers or you're trying to find something new to try this is definitely a spot worth paying a visit to. Go ahead and get your drink on ;) read more

Poor service, dirty aisles and prices missing on many items. I walked out of the store and spent $100's elsewhere.

I am ashamed to admit that although i have lived a large portion of my life in Fresh Meadows, I actually forgot about this place. I know, I know...I'm an idiot. I mean remember coming here way back in the day with hundreds of bottles and cans to cash in for some money for the week ( That was before the 90 yr old Asian dude that stalks my recycle bin started at it and pushed me out...LOL) I remember coming here when I turned 21 and stocked up, I remember coming here when I got my first apartment and had a kick ass party..........and then went back the next day to cash in the bottles because I was broke :) I guess beer has not been on the brain as Scotch has been taking up most of my time nowadays. I was reunited with Kissena Beverage when I needed some brews to take to a 1 year old's birthday party........Now don't judge me, it wasn't for them.......It was for the adults......so we could drink in the parking lot. ( see, much better...and yes I am north of 30 yrs old, why do you ask?) Seriously though if you need beer or soda and you live within driving distance, you must go here. They have tons and tons of great beers at great prices and the staff (including "Mrs. No Days Off" in her plexiglass fortress) are always super friendly and helpful. read more

Kissena Beverage has a great selection, fair prices, and the friendliest staff ever. I have been coming here since I moved to the neighborhood in 2007. The place is a complete dive, but it is the best package and beverage store within miles. The lady owner at the counter is literally always there as mentioned by other reviewers. I wonder if she even sleeps ? She is the nicest person I have ever met, not joking. One time 2 years ago, I got kegs for my girlfriends birthday. When I came in the next year on the same date she gave us a glass set. She remembered the date. Wow. What great service. If you are looking for a great deal on a giant pack of energy drink, or a tasty microbrew this is the place to be. read more

Just as a note, as of writing this review, the address written is correct, but the map is showing the wrong place, so check out and make sure you are going to the correct place if you would like to go here. Anyway, onto the review: This is an absolutely great place to pick up some beer. The standards are cheap, but as I'm not really a Coors light man, I'm going to quickly move to the micros. Their selection in this regard is outstanding. They have beers from everywhere. And all of it is decently priced. They also get new stuff in all the time. When you go there, you can always find something new to try. They have a good selection of 750 ml bottles as well. I'd say the one knock on their entire selection is that very little of it is packed into the refrigerators, that space is mainly held by the Bud's of the world. Some other quick notes: The place looks horrible, there tends to be cardboard boxes all over the place and it sometimes smells like stale beer from all the empties getting deposited. The little Asian lady who is at the register/glass encasement is very nice and always there. Literally. i have been going here for about 8 years now and I have never EVER been helped by someone else. She needs a vacation. Anyway, go here, get some beer and put it in the fridge. Much better than heading to the grocery store and getting some typical junk. read more

Great selection of beer's here. The refridgerated section could be a lot larger but if you plan ahead you can always find a great selection of beers here on sale. They do carry a limited selection of wine's but honestly it's never good to buy wine at a beer store. They also carry some non-alchoholic beverages as well but I really don't pay attention to those since I really only come here for the beer. They do have cider as well and a decent selection too. Unfortunately they don't have their own lot so try to get a spot on the street (or park in the Walgreen's parking lot if you dare.) They accept returned bottles for desposit. The employees are friendly and the line is usually never very long. read more

they don't have a lot of abbey brews but they stock the basic belgians, tsing dao, and king kisher. lots of 40s. this is a favorite place for keg lovers. decent prices. decent hours open til 10:30 mon through sat. and 9pm on sunday. the korean lady is very nice and so is the husband. read more

Good prices for Sapporo beer. Everything else more expensive than Albany but reasonably priced overall. More of a get in and get out kind of store. Not necessary bad service as it's more no service, although we bought 4 cases of 12 pack Sapporo and there was a gentleman who loaded it onto a dolley and rolled it out to our car. This place is great. They have an amazing selection of both brand name and microbrewery beers. Prices are good, especially if you buy in bulk. One small issue is that they don't have a dedicated lot, so it can be hard to find parking. read more

The other owners were very nice, these new owners can be rude. First meeting the new owner I wanted to return some bottles but the machine was full, she harshly told me go take them else where I told her no I brought them there so she took the bottles & gave me the cash, she can be quite nasty. The young Asian man told me today to take my bottles to Kissena Farms since their glass bottle machine was broken I ask him just give me my 35 cents so he did, They are not the nicest business people. I am local resident who has been shopping here for a long time. The management has recently changed and not for the better... They have to be the nastiest, rudest, most unhelpful management group I have ever encountered. I attempted to deposit my empties but was brutally ATTACKED by a woman manager when I told her the machine was not working. Instead of trying to remedy the problem I was yelled at and was demanded to go buy items first and then deposit afterwards. The people working there under the new management were also yelled at and humiliated when they spoke with them. There prices are also outrageous and when asked if they had a particular product in stock they gave me a very rude answer of "I don't know, go look". I ended up taking my empties and leaving the place because of the complete lack of respect and the harassment I was receiving from the two woman managers. I am disappointed because the previous management was very nice and helpful. I would advise all past, present and future customers to avoid this awful store and to look for a new beverage center.
