Having to plan, decide, and carry the responsibility of laying someone you love to rest is something you can never truly prepare for. It is heavy, overwhelming, and deeply emotional. In those moments, you need people who understand that--people who lead with compassion, patience, and respect. Unfortunately, that was not our experience the first time. In 2022, my family went through a very painful situation with another memorial provider in Conway, SC. What should have been a time of honoring our loved one became an added source of stress and hurt that has stayed with us for years. Then, when we were at our lowest, Blackmon Memorial Services stepped in--and changed everything. Without hesitation, and at no cost to our family, they chose to make things right. That alone speaks volumes about who they are. Mr. Nelson Blackmon handled our situation with such integrity, grace, and compassion. He never once spoke poorly about the other company. Instead, he showed us--through his actions--what true professionalism and humanity look like. Today meant more than I can put into words. Mr. Shade Rogers and Mr. Gordon Anderson came to place a new memorial stone for our loved one. It was beautiful. Perfectly crafted. Every detail was right. But what stood out even more was the care they took--making sure everything was placed with precision, respect, and dignity. You could feel that this wasn't just a job to them. It mattered. And that matters to families like mine. This wasn't just about fixing a mistake. It was about restoring peace. It was about honoring someone we love the way they deserved all along. God bless this business. God bless these men. Today, we were able to say good-bye properly to our loved one. My family will never go anywhere else. And if you truly want your loved one to be treated with dignity, and your family to be cared for during one of the hardest times in life--this is the place.

They have always shown great care and concern during our times of bereavement. Their service extends well past the immediate needs. They live by the standard once a customer always part of their family of customers. We recently had damage that needed repair. Even though my family no longer lived in the area, they quickly took care of our needs and made sure that the repairs were made quickly and efficiently. Communication was prompt and courteous. I paid for my husbands funeral in full but Mel Pennington decided to make it harder than it already was by meddling in family drama. They also dropped the flowers from the funeral on my front porch for me to come home to also gave more than half of the flowers to other people also divided the flowers and sympathy cards to who they thought they should go to. To say the least very intrusive and judge mental small town and small minded family owned funeral home.

Florence Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum

My mother and father are buried in the mausoleum. We have never been pleased with the condition of…read morethe building. The first time we went back the outside mat was dirty and there were dead leaves in front of their building and the chapel. There has always been a musty/bad smell inside the building. I wrote them a letter but never got a response. The worst was when we found that our mother's flowers had been taken. The flowers we had placed in our mothers vase had been prepared by a florist. The flowers that were stuck in place of Moma's beautiful flowers were clearly not done by a florist. When we addressed it with the owners, we were told that sometimes they remove the vases and flowers when they have to bury someone near and do not always put them back in the right place. No "I'm sorry", just a very cavalier attitude toward our issue. When we took the replacement flowers for moma, my sister noted that the sealant for some of the crypts had just dripped down the wall ontothe baseboard. The building is not maintained at all in a respectful manner. I wish my parents were not there.

Took one look got there tools and within 1 hr of being there we were back up and running. Not only did They fixed the problem they showed us what caused the problem, how to prevent the problem and how to buy us time if push comes to shove and we got to keep run before they can get there if for some reason the problem occurs again. The job was neatly handled even there work area on our property was clean kept during and after job was done. There was a email invoice sent to our business before they left the property. From the time I entered the funeral home, I was treated as if I wasn't supposed to be there. Carl Days was not friendly and honestly disregarded me the entire time as if I didn't belong there. I was unable to grieve and shunned while trying. I was coerced by members of the staff along with my mother who had a personal connection to the funeral director and owner; while never being notified that I was the SOLE BENEFICIARY. While I had no issue with supporting my mother with the planning and costs, until it was time to sign on that dotted line, I was shocked they did not contact me before moving forward. I was NEVER contacted by the staff and to this day I have yet to hear from them. Mrs. Anne told me where to sign but NEVER explained that the entire cost of a funeral I had no part in planning, was left in my lap, all of this in the final hour. When it became clear of their plans and I questioned why I had not been notified directly from the funeral home in regards to being the beneficiary and the costs of the service, I was told "There was nothing they could do about it". Mr. Hines went even further by saying "Typically the money goes to the daughter!" And while this might be true in some cases, legally it was not in this one. Mr. Hines also said, "What do you want, a free funeral for your grandmother?" I tried to explain that what I wanted was to be "included" and I was told, "Well did you know she died on May the 25th?" At that point, I knew this conversation was going no where and they are simply RUDE! Never was I offered condolences, acknowledged nor have any of them apologized for their error or disregard. Upon contacting the insurance company, I was also told the monies owed were less than what the funeral home had written on their paperwork (go figure). It seemed as if they increased the costs to max out the amount of the policy/funeral to ensure I did not receive a return or so they could receive more in their pockets. When loved ones pass away it is an emotional time and one might expect to be able to trust that the funeral home would recognize that; especially if they are expecting THOUSANDS of dollars in return. To me, my grandmother's funeral was reduced to a business transaction, and personal strife of which they should have stayed out of. By no means was her funeral worth the cost of which was expected. Unfortunately, I will never have the opportunity to pay proper respects to her. I'm thankful she loved me enough to keep me in mind like she did and no matter what the bond we shared no one can take from me not even their staff. I would NEVER knowingly spend a dime or trust my loved ones in the hands of people who have no regard for people or who find it necessary to speak to and treat people this way simply because they feel they can! Shame on the staff and owner of this funeral home. Age and high school connections do not give them the right to input their opinions in family business and to conduct their business this way. Perhaps it's time to retire if there is a lack of compassion to deal with those in need and the ability to be professional in ALL business transactions exists and clearly that is the case! After all, it's not personal it's business right? I urge anyone to reconsider allowing this funeral home to honor the memories of your loved one. I have since heard of several negative exchanges and unprofessional mismanagement by the staff at Hines Funeral Home.
