KISW Seattle's best rock rock rock. I can't count the hours I've listen to this radio station as a youth. But growing up in Seattle KISW was the cornerstone of the local music scene. Steve Slaton was the top disc jockey & master of ceremony's for ages at the station during those years. Steve introduced new music to my ears and broaden my knowledge of old school bands. I recall the Friday rock report vividly and the Van Halen KISW rant they used. I remember both locations where the station was broadcasting. We had the opportunity to meet many artists that came into the station for live interviews. We'd be waiting outside with are Tower Records bag filled stuff to be autographed and luckily we were the only people there except for the hoards of fans that showed up for Van Halen. Thank god we meet them at the hotel. All I wanna say is thanks for the soundtrack of my youth and the stacks of stickers you'd give out. I have been listening to 99.9 KISW since 1979. Growing up in Tacoma, KISW was the "it" channel to tune into. In the 80's, they had a knack of playing what we always wanted to hear. Something has gone significantly wrong in the last 10 years (maybe longer). The so g rotation is completely predictable and boring. Whoever is in charge of programming is completely out of touch. If fans are being honest, we desperately want new, fresh music and less ads. For example, I want so much to support the new Daly and Migs show because I love all the main crew there, but during my 70 minute commute, I have to tune in and out multiple times in order to be entertained. There is maybe 30 minutes of entertainment in the 1st 60 minutes of the show. Consequently, I tune out at 6:08 and I might tune back in at 6:50 because I k ow that is Beat Migs time. You have the ingredients for a great morning show but you will destroy it unless you have more focus on the show content. I LOVE THE MENS ROOM. They know how to entertain the people without making is feel like it is ad heavy. ​ read more

I love this station along w Movin 92.5 I love the BJ And Migs Morning Shows And Also the afternoon talk and game shows but definitely in the morning I get the chance on my way in to work to listen to everything before during and after BJ And Migs sometimes if I'm lucky I can catch the noon shows I also love Taryn Daly shout outs to her big time and the list goes on and basically I just love everything movin 92.5 and 99.9 read more

Man this station has gone down all they do is play older music anymore with a few new songs mixed in. They play way to much Queen, Jimi Hendrix, guns in roses. Anymore if I put them on it's like I'm at a grocery store listening to music while I shop instead of driving round. read more

Whether I like this station or not really depends on my mood. One thing that does bug me sometimes, though, is how little music I hear when I listen. As for the talk shows... I've listened to BJ Shea a lot, and that tends to vary on my mood and the topics. Sometimes I think he's got a great point and sometimes they're just being stupid. Same goes for the Men's Room, except that I tend to think they're either being amusing or stupid. What I like most about the show are the responses to the question of the day and what the toast is for the shot of the day. Ricker... I'm not sure about him. His show has a lot more music, but those random prank calls and oddball conversations are pretty strange to stumble onto. When I listen to the radio, though, KISW and NPR are my top choices for stations. I find it kind of funny when they make fun of NPR because I feel like I can enjoy both. read more

I've been listening to kisw since i was a baby and i love the station. But the reason I've given it 4 stars instead of five stars is because they don't play enough of my favorite sub genre of rock, and that is 90s-00s punk rock. Blink-182 is my number one favorite band but i never hear it on this station as much as i used to. I understand if they don't play the Blink-182's more recent music because it can hardly be considered rock, but it would be great if they played more of their old stuff and more punk rock from this era in general. The other music is great and the men's room is hilarious but i wish that they would ramp it up on the playing of punk rock, and I'm sure many local listeners agree with me. read more

I've been listening to one version or another for an incredibly long time, like 30 years, and today is the last day I will tune it in. I'm not even sure what the conversaton was about.I came in mid story. Something about finding a wallet on a Greyhound bus. Then the racist crap started. I can't tell you how disappointed I am in the station, the people on the show, and the producers to key that happen. It was right at the beginning of the Friday evening commute window and I know one of the most important times of the day for any station. You lost me and as many people as I can tell about this. Finally. I talk show that actually causes me to laugh out loud. I made do with Adam Carolla for my morning commute jollies for quite some time, but even that only brought me to a sly grin. But ever since I came across 99.9, BJ Shea and his crew have managed to elicit actual laughter during their rants/raves/banter. Accidentally leaving the radio tuned to the same station for my commute home brought The Men's Room, which for me - being a man - is full of hilarious antics. I love me some rude humour every now and then. True, I go here for the talking not for the instrument playing. If I was listening for the latter, I would be giving it a lower rating as metal/hard-rock isn't really my thing. As radio stations go, this is kind of bearable. They play rock and lots of it. Mens' men do the morning show and the have a Metal Shop evening for headbanger stuff. I tend to put this on when I'm in a car, the other stations are sucking, I'm having to deal with Seattle weaksauce driving and am getting kind of aggro, or a combination of these. read more

Do they... play... music?? I love KISW. They play exactly the music that I love to listen to. That is... when they're playing music. Which isn't during standard morning or evening commute times. And only rarely on the times that I leave work late or go out for lunch. So, my norm is to be in 99.9 for ten seconds, realize it's a commercial or people talking, and switch to something else. But I do love Jolene. I think she has a great voice for radio, and when she talks, it's at least about music. read more

I love this station. The morning show - BJ Shea is an outspoken individual with a tenancy toward "Larry David" moments. He does rant against women but also against dead beat dads, people who don't think, politiicans, religious nuts.. he's an equal opportunity ranter. As a woman, I don't find him offensive, I find it refreshing that he speaks his mind without worrying about being PC. He is often logical and supports his opinion, he doesn't just through it out there without backing it up. I also love the afternoon show - The Mens Room. These guys are fun drunks, the kind you want to meet up with after work. They're always having a good time, there is a "question of the day" usually sparked from some bit of news or other times just silly and random. Today people are calling in to tell them (and us) what they can't do that they think everyone else can do (such as whistle). read more

Way too many ads. It takes me 30 minutes to get to work. I only heard two songs. Same as Last time. Mens room takes up more time than music.

It is kind of hard for me to review this station since I don't really listen to it for the music. Don't get me wrong, some of it is pretty good, but the occasional 80's hair metal and current death metal can inspire changing the dial. I do enjoy listening to the talk shows though. In the morning I listen to the BJ Shea show and in the afternoon I check out the Men's Room (*note: I dont check out the mens room like a perverted voyeur, it is a show in the afternoon). These are not the greatest talk shows on earth, but pretty entertaining when you consider some of the talk shows on the Seattle FM dial (sorry, T-Man is not funny or entertaining). I also hear that Leykis is on at night, but havent listened to him since the Buzz years. Rock! read more

When KISW actually does play music, 90% of it is damn good. I like to rock my face off in the car, and their selection accomplishes that. Most of the time, however, the station has different talk shows going on. I love the Men's Room. I love Jolene. BJ Shea can make mornings tolerable. Other times you'll want him to shut up. With KISW, you're more likely to tune into talk than music nowadays. I guess that's okay. It's one of the few stations in this city that is worth listening to, in my opinion. read more

Growing up in LA we had KNAC and they rocked our freaking heads off. Best group of jock's in history. That special time ended in 1994. Radio became mundane. I love the music but, they need to quit the chatter. If I want talk I will go to AM, FM is for music. I love that they play old Metallica, Nirvana, Alice In Chains and a lot of older favorites from the 80 instead of the emo junk that is on other rock stations. I would like them more if they played some more new stuff like System OF A Down, Godsmack and more punk. The rock girls are really cute and give you free stuff at events. I used to listen to KISW all the time. But the commercials just wore me out. In a world of smart devices that stream music, Bluetooth, podcasts and many other options, radio is just a dying breed. Finally a chance to voice my opinion. BJ Shea's morning show makes my day, the guys are funny and there is no better way to start the day then with laughter. As for the Men's Room, there is just no better way to end the work day, they are the best. I just found this station about a year ago (I'm new to the area) and the only time I change the station is when Ricker is on. Just not a big fan of his. Keep up the GREAT work. While I listen to this channel to hear "The Men's Room" show, it could be a lot better if they did away with the 40 and going on 50 year old music they play. Since Stern left the air, the only fix I can get for radio silliness is the Men's Room show, and they usually do a decent job of getting me to laugh, though I'm actually more of a political talk junkie. When I started listening to music as a kid, it was during the 80s when acts like Cindy Lauper, Whitney Houston, Duran Duran, etc. were all the rage. Me and my friends didn't care for that music at all so we reached back into the better rock legends of the 70s, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Led Zep, Van Halen (David Lee Roth version) AC/DC, Hendrix, etc. Now that time has passed those tunes are kind of worn out for me. I'd like to hear some of the new rock talent that's out there (preferably post-Grunge) and KISW just doesn't seem to want to come forward when it comes to music choices. What especially stands out as a miserable day for the station is when they chose to play Ozzy's "Let me hear you scream" every hour on the hour. I hate that album. I think if they got rid of Jolene as program director (who doesn't seem to realize that the big hair 80s bands days are over) and got someone who has a good ear for some of the newer, hard rocking acts (not the emo or whiney coffee house stuff like the play on the End), I would listen to the station a lot more. The truth is, as far as I know, there is no straight new Rock station in the Seattle area (say, one that plays tunes around 5 years old or younger), which is pretty surprising given the size of the area. If you want to listen to FM Rock in this town, you'll be forced to listen to the same tunes as your Grandpa! read more

Does KISW play music any damn more? I moved out of the area about 15 years ago but now I've moved back. I tuned in as I came over Snoqualmie Pass and thought there was something wrong with my radio. But there wasn't. Every time I tune in, I get the Men's Room, boring, obnoxious prattle obviously aimed at 14-year-olds. I can't stand to listen to it long enough to see if there's any music during this crap. It makes me put at least 1 star, but if I could, it would get zero!
