D'Fine Design & Build

D'Fine Design & Build

Jesse designed a beautiful bathroom and David and his crew were excellent - very friendly and professional. It is obvious that everyone who works at D'Fine cares about the customer and we really love how the bathroom turned out. We highly recommend D'Fine Design and Build.

I agree with the other 3 star review person. None of the workers doing the construction work for Dfine. In fact one of them told us no habla ingles, indicating he only spoke Spanish. Highly suggest you find any other firm to do the actual construction. I've never had an issue with Brothers Services or Tim Kyle Electric. If you want the job done right you need a firm that has employees who are vested in the project results and speak English. Dfine's use of contractors that don't work for Dfine is a mistake from the outset. We had delays and eventually had to negotiate a final payment since not all work contracted for was completed or some services were overpriced after checking with other firms. And some work for which I requested a quote so I could check with another firm was simply done without providing a quote for which I had to pay extra for. And Ahmet, while an owner, was never a project manager. In fact there was no project manager watching over daily work. Allied Remodeling at least offers that, where one of the owners reviews the daily work and any communications. I did eventually outsource some of the work to trusted firms like Tim Kyle and Anderson Windows. Did I pay more? Yes. Did I get the work that I expected? Yes. If Dfine somehow convinces you to go with their work crew, insist that David is the primary person who deals with the work. Still not a project manager, but a cut above the rest of what they have to offer. Anyone else is a joke. The design work done by Dfine was thoughtful. The construction could have been much better. And a word about what you think you want. Marble on any part of the remodel looks great. It is however cold as hell to the touch. In the kitchen during winter the counter tops are always cold. And try backing into a cold wall in the shower. It can be shocking. You may want to consider alternatives. There are plenty of firms that can get work done in a day without using marble. My upgrade from the 1960s was better than it was. Not perfect.

Wow! Luis can do pretty much anything, and he does it all with professionalism and care! He did…read moreEXCELLENT work for us on several projects. The main project was to replace more than two dozen rotting boards and the steps on our 20-year-old deck, ensure the structural integrity of the deck, and jack up a corner of the deck that had sunk a couple of inches. He also power-washed the deck and the siding of the house that faced the deck. We also needed work done indoors. He repaired a door frame to a bedroom, fixed a broken storm door, replaced marble tile in our foyer, installed a missing sliding closet door, and procured and installed beautiful luxury plank vinyl flooring for a bedroom. He communicated clearly with us throughout every project, made suggestions when he saw something that needed improvement, and always checked with us when a decision needed to be made. In every situation, he did high-quality work in a very timely fashion. He always arrived when he said he would, made sure that the times were convenient for us, and always left the work area clean and organized. Luis is friendly, honest, communicative, reliable, trustworthy, polite, and highly skilled. We highly recommend Luis and his crew, and we would hire him again without hesitation.

He was professional, reliable, and paid great attention to detail throughout the project. The finished result looks fantastic, and the workmanship is top-notch. He communicated clearly and completed the work efficiently without cutting corners. It's not always easy to find someone who combines quality work with fair pricing, but Luis absolutely delivered. I would highly recommend him for any deck or general handyman work and would not hesitate to hire him again.

From the first moment, everything went flawlessly, which has not been my experience with other contractors. The company takes pride in its work and DOES sweat the details (in a good way!), ensuring there are no surprises when it comes to functionality, aesthetics, schedule, and costs. Their pricing was fair, and as someone who is a value-conscious consumer, I felt like the quality of the work - not to mention the ease of working with them - was tremendous for the price paid. They also were simply pleasant to have in our home for the better part of three months; they were always incredibly prompt, cleaned up after themselves, and treated our entire family, including kids and cats, with a lot of care. At one point they even helped me push my stuck car out of the mud I'd parked in to free up spots for their trucks. I'm also including some photos so you can see the quality of their work. My very experienced realtor told me these look like remodels that cost twice the price. Parviz and his crew also reliably gave solid input about design choices, and we couldn't be happier with the results.

We'd hired handymen to do a smaller painting job and weren't satisfied with the results. So when it came time to tackle the bulk of the wallpaper, we chose DreamSpace Remodeling. Right from the start, Parviz gave us confidence that the work would be done well. He listened to what we wanted and provided us a complete estimate. He visited the site regularly, checking on his employees and asking us if we had any questions. When I reported to him that one of his employees wasn't getting as much done as the other, he pulled the employee from the job and put someone else on it. When I noted a seam in the wallboard, he had his workers flatten it and repaint. When he noticed peeling paint around a window that we hadn't asked him to address, he had his workers take care of it anyway. And when the supports for a shower rod got lost, he had an employee purchase, deliver, and install a shower rod. They even provided a shower curtain and hooks! Parviz epitomizes the best in customer service. I highly recommend DreamSpace Remodeling.

The owner, Brian Chan, was recommended to us by trusted friends and family. However, we should have done our due dilgence and checked other customers Brian worked for and Maryland Case Search to see the numerous litigations against him and Professional Choice. In the end, Professional Choice provided us with substandard work with finishing our 1800 sq ft basement. The work was awful which resulted in our needing to acquire attorneys in which we successfully ligitated and won only roughly 12k in return of the 55K we paid Brian. Not to mention the catalyst for litigation was due to Brian/Professional Choice attempting to charge us another 20K on top of the 55k we already paid. Additionally, the project started in June 2017 (30 days late) and never finished after Brian required multiple extensions into March 2018. I oilt was at that point we had enough and began litigation against Brian/Professional Choice. We won judgment a year later in February 2019 and after multiple delay tactics and unwillingness to pay the judgement (it's now October 2019), we had to finally file the judgement with the state of maryland (you can verify the case on Maryland Case Search....search for Brian Chan and our case is under Phillip Jones). Our next steps will be having to pursue garnishment. Brian/Professional Choice have been anything, but professional nor timely with deliverables, very poor communication/responsiveness and not respectful of other's time and home (by allowing his subcontractors to smoke and roam about other parts of our home without consent).
