He makes every component by hand and finishes them with a water based laquer in the custom color of your choice. They are actually very nice cabinets. Communication was very good for months as the project progressed. Multiple site visits, responding promptly to questions, getting all of the specs for appliances, etc... Things seemed to be progressing very well. Then delivery day approached. The cabinet boxes were delivered, but only about 50% of the doors and drawers. I'm missing all of the shelves, roll out trays, and about half of the drawers and doors. I was assured that the remaining parts would follow shortly, and foolishly made a second partial payment. Then everything changed. No response to calls or emails. Silence. After my counter surfaces were installed and the other aspects of the project essentially finished, Koenig Cabinetry cut off all communication and says they have gone out of business. The cabinets were paid in full incrementally and i'm having to find someone else to finish the work at considerable expense. This will cost my working class family thousands of dollars in losses. I'm sharing this in the hope that I save someone else from a similar fate. I'm trying to figure out how to recover. These same folks also operate as KOENIG PAINTING and FINISH CARPENTRY in Baltimore. The company takes pride in its work and DOES sweat the details (in a good way!), ensuring there are no surprises when it comes to functionality, aesthetics, schedule, and costs. Their pricing was fair, and as someone who is a value-conscious consumer, I felt like the quality of the work - not to mention the ease of working with them - was tremendous for the price paid. They also were simply pleasant to have in our home for the better part of three months; they were always incredibly prompt, cleaned up after themselves, and treated our entire family, including kids and cats, with a lot of care. Madewell Cabinetry just finished a project in my kitchen installing new cabinets where there were none before (the rest of the kitchen will come later). The main project was to replace more than two dozen rotting boards and the steps on our 20-year-old deck, ensure the structural integrity of the deck, and jack up a corner of the deck that had sunk a couple of inches. He also power-washed the deck and the siding of the house that faced the deck. We also needed work done indoors. He repaired a door frame to a bedroom, fixed a broken storm door, replaced marble tile in our foyer, installed a missing sliding closet door, and procured and installed beautiful luxury plank vinyl flooring for a bedroom. He communicated clearly with us throughout every project, made suggestions when he saw something that needed improvement, and always checked with us when a decision needed to be made. In every situation, he did high-quality work in a very timely fashion. Apparently they don't understand the concept of "Lifetime" Anyway, the current owner won't even talk to me. A signed letter from Mr Sam Hammaker makes no difference. I guess he's no longer around. I wouldn't do business with this company but if you do, don't count on any warranty On more thing, the written response to me said that "no warranty was given" back in 2007. Anyone who wants to see the signed letter from Mr Hammaker or the big whole page "Lifetime No Gimmick Warranty" I would be happy to send a picture of both.

We recently had some questions about the work and contacted the company, only to find that the Sam we knew had sadly passed. The new owners (Sam's children) seem to be just as qualified, caring, friendly, and eager to support customers. I can only guess they have the same ethic, and would highly recommend the company. They originally provided exactly the service requested, great quality, and value. I predict the next generation will continue to do so.
