The issue I have now, 16 years later, is with the granite around the sink. First, the piece of granite that encompasses my sink area is large. Sometimes these pieces are whole, but this one was split in the middle of the sink area. That means that each 1/2 of the sink area has narrow granite to encompass it. The undermount sink support is primarily on the sides of the sink where the granite material is counter width. Here's what happened - several years ago, cracks started showing up at the back of the sink. We didn't realize what was going on. Eventually, the cracks opened wide to reveal rusted steel bars in the granite. I had no idea there was steel embedded in the granite and why it should have been since the granite was split (by design) in the middle of the sink area and the steel support embedded in the granite was mildly - if at all - effective in it's supporting function. Maybe it would have been if the granite was one whole piece - I don't know. Academy installers nor anyone from the company mentioned that water intrusion (into the steel exposed below the counter or at the split - not sure where it got in) would cause the granite to crack like this. Fact - rusting/oxidizing steel embedded in any stone will expand and crack the granite. In a sink area, there should be no steel at all - this is a warning to EVERY GRANITE COUNTERTOP CUSTOMER. I had contacted Academy subsequently and they brushed me off saying the weight of the sink caused the granite to crack (which is not true). They simply refused to take responsibility for what I will call a granite "time bomb" they planted in 2008. They steadfastly refused to acknowledge this error and even admitted they STILL use steel in the granite countertops they install to "reinforce" it. My advice to anyone wanting to have granite installed in their kitchen is to do your due diligence. Ask everything you can think of to these "experts". Make them sign an agreement that anything they do to the granite that is unnatural (like embedding supports) will not crack the granite. To those folks that are skeptical of my assertions here, search online and you'll see accounts and videos of folks repairing their granite caused by rusting steel supports embedded in the granite. This cost me over $1700 to repair and although the repair contractor did a good job, you can still see that the countertop had cracks in it. I don't think they pulled all the steel out and it is possible that cracking may happen in the future. My advice is to stay away from Academy for your granite needs. They admit they are still embedding steel in granite - perhaps they are looking for repeat business or maybe they are just incompetent. For them to still practice this nonsense is one thing, but it is another to not inform their clients of the risks of future cracked granite caused by rusting embedded steel rods. It is unconscionable.

Exceptional is the only way to describe our experience with this company and the owner!…read more I ran 2 large projects at once and was able to get exactly what I was looking for! 1000st ft kitchen with 12 feet island, cascade/waterfall sides, countertops and all backsplash and up the wall marble! (Not many places have 8 matching slabs of marble and allows you to pick your favorites!) 1100 sq ft salon where they created 5 custom quartz countertops with sinks, garbage hole for a waxing salon/eyebrow bar. - The price was by far the only reasonable across 7 other companies that were highly recommended to us! - Service was awesome - Quality, they returned to both locations to inspect their work and make sure it was perfect and what we expected!!! Trust me they are the right choice by far!

He was punctual and showed up every day until he finished the job. He supervised his subcontractors, and he arranged for all the inspections during the build. His price was fair. We're very happy with the shed, and we highly recommend Jonathan for any and all remodeling or building projects one might have.

Jon's attention to detail is amazing, his craftsmanship is precise and his eye for detail is spot on. A perfect example of this was when Jon noticed that the color of the Trex decking was not uniform. He went back to the supplier several times to get new decking and made sure that the color and shade was identical. From the very beginning, when we were discussing plans, to designing the deck and arranging for all the permits Jon was wonderful. He took care of all those details, made changes that we requested, gave us new updates on prices and best of all communicated with us every step of the way. Jon always answered phone calls and texts and made us feel very confident that we could rely on him to do the job. We absolutely love our beautiful new deck and we would recommend Jon without hesitation!!
