He did a virtual consultation an hour after I called and he sent me a reasonable quote a day after. The following day he did a walk through. After 6 days, (not including wait time for my tiles to arrive), I have 2 bathrooms and one powder room updated! A little back story - I am a new "home" owner and I am so so grateful I found JJK Contracting. I had a different contractor to work on my floors before JJK contracting, they went through the whole board approvals with me only to ghost me afterwards. I spent days / weeks chasing this other contractor to keep me posted and get me the info I needed and for them to disappear was disheartening, they really set me back on my renovations. When I messaged JJK Contracting - I felt like such a priority! They have a clean and great communication system, I never felt ignored. I really appreciated how Kennedy and Oliver communicated with me every step of the way in terms of refinishing my floors. They answered all my questions (and as someone who is super new to all of this) they never made me feel dumb asking what I wanted to ask. They exceeded my expectations in so many ways! They worked very quickly on my floors and was respectful to me and my space. They completed the task in two weeks (and that includes board approval time) which got me slightly back to speed on where I wanted to be in my renovations so I super appreciate that! I also thought a final visit / walk through of the space to ensure the quality of the work that was done, I haven't seen that before and thought it was awesome! Work that was done: I had my floors refinished, with a golden brown stain and a satin finish. Bonus : When I saw some bubbles on one of my floors, they came to fix that which was an above and beyond move to me. Don't get near them. They are useless and they do not reply. I hired them to repair my sidewalk in Harlem. A job that does not require the finest skills... Oneil Kennedy said he knew how to do it. He did it and we got fined by the city because the repair was so bad... He did not replace the whole flag but stopped half way. Look at the picture of his curious manner to cut a flag in two... He did not reply when I requested him to come and fix it. Before I realized that he was crap, I asked him to budget for another job. He took a long time and finally forwarded a budget with chapters, but the chapters were empty: He just looked at the job and gave an overall estimate with zero detail. When I requested a proper breakdown he just disappeared and never came back. If he can't fix a sidewalk, imagine what he could do with your delicate carpentry work. Stay away from them. JJK has been fantastic start to finish. They're reasonably priced, fast and easy to work with. I worked with them August-September 2022 for a complete bathroom renovation + finishing of oddly shaped attic closets. I will hopefully use them for additional projects in the coming months. I contacted the company for a major renovation of my coop in Morningside Heights. I arranged for Kennedy, who I believe is the owner of this contractor, to come out to see the 1000 square foot apartment. It took me about an hour to get there, as the coop is currently empty and I live elsewhere. He showed up on time and we talked about the work I wanted done. He told me he'd get me an offer for the renovation in about a week. That was over a month ago. Despite sending him several emails and a few texts I have heard next to nothing from him. To my text "Nice to meet with you" I got a text "Why aren't you in the butt workout every 61 Ciara," which my phone told me was created with Siri. Other than that nothing. Perhaps he noticed that I already had received a bid and he realized he'd have to put in an affordable bid to get the job. Maybe he decided he just wants to pursue more profitable jobs. Could have been a bit more responsive in the beginning but they did a good job at a fair price. After all was said and done I would recommend them and use them again. I just needed tile placed on one wall of my bathroom behind a freestanding tub. I bought the tile myself and just needed it installed. Other contractors wanted to charge me a price that seemed more appropriate for a full bathroom. I called JJK contracting for a estimate. O'Neil came out looked at the job, and told me that he would send me a quote. He never sent the quote the time he mentioned. I followed up with him to remind him that I was waiting on a price for him, he told me that he went out of the state on the weekend, and promised that he would send it a few days later. It's been two months now, and still no quote from O'Neil. He's very unprofessional, and I'm glad he showed me his lack of professionalism at the start. We hired Oneil to renovate our kitchen, and we would hire him again in a heartbeat! From start to finish, he was professional, attentive, and reliable. He worked quickly and completed all tasks within the time frame he originally gave us, which was incredible. We hired him to redo our floors, demolishing the existing floor and laying new cork tiles (which he did a beautiful job of!) He also created an enclosure for an exposed heat pipe in our kitchen, which finishes the look. He installed our new cabinets, preparing them to intersect with water pipes so there would be no conflict. He plastered and painted with exquisite expertise. The electrician and plumber he worked with were also professional, capable, and reliable. Throughout the process, Oneil asked us questions to be certain of our preferences and gave us his professional recommendations when we needed help, which was hugely useful, as we had never undertaken such a task before. We had been a little nervous about the whole renovation process, but Oneil was so trustworthy and supportive that we learned that, with him as our contractor, we really had nothing to worry about. Upon completing the project, Oneil even waxed our new floors and gifted us an excellent product that we can continue to use. This is a bit late but I scheduled an estimate walk with O'Neil in Feb 2022. The scheduling with his team started out being responsive but in day of appt I had to call them 2x to ensure he was coming b/c he was late with no heads up. When he arrived we walked my kitchen which I explained all of the things I wanted but I mentioned that I wanted to do it as reasonably priced as possible since it's a rental unit. I guess he didn't like that b/c he never sent a proposal but said he would. He also tried to talk me out of relocating the sink in the kitchen saying it may be too difficult? I'm getting the work done with another GC and relocating the sink was very easy. He's got good reviews but if he didn't want the job he should have said so before he left. Kennedy and his team did an amazing job re-staining our floors! He responded promptly to all of my questions, he carefully explained every step of the process, and I got a detailed estimate quickly. His team got the job finished way faster than I thought, which is especially amazing because we had some large furniture that we couldn't move out of our apartment. We also had them rip out our kitchen and match that floor with the rest of the hardwood. From start to finish, I will say my experience with JJK was exceptional! We had delays (due to another vendor, not related) and Kennedy and his team were awesome through that. This is NOT the contractor who will take your money and run! Kennedy from when I spoke to the receptionist for the estimate appointment until the final time he left my property was phenomenal. We began with a kitchen renovation. In 3 days, the guys transformed my space completely! I eventually asked them to stay on to help re-do my two bathrooms, because their work was amazing! They did a little bit of everything. Ripping down walls, floors, adding electrical, added an island, cabinetry, tiles, a new tub, changed plumbing, painting, added water lines for a new fridge and dishwasher. The guys were extremely careful with my newly refinished floors and cleaned up after a days work. All materials that hung around from one day to the next were neatly and safely stored. I was in constant contact with Kennedy (even on Sundays) he is extremely professional, patient, and easy to work with. I look forward to our next project together, as I predict will be a big one! Worked with Kennedy and his team over a few months in Summer 2021 for a full renovation of a two bedroom apartment in the Bronx, including repainting of walls, ceiling and trim, new kitchen tiling, cabinets, and appliances, new bathroom tiling, tub, shower system, and vanity, and redone wood flooring. It was an incredibly run down apartment when we first purchased it and Kennedy and his team did a great job turning it into a place we are excited to live in. Kennedy is super responsive and, though we had some major hiccups along the way, all of it was handled professionally despite a difficult building management situation. I needed them to install an over-range microwave (I never had one before) and replace the kitchen sink and faucet. Oneil is a gem! I was looking to replace my hallway sliding door to a mirror sliding door. I also wanted to replace the side moulding because my dog had damaged the wood badly. I went to Home Depot and purchased the sliding door and Oneil kindly asked if I needed his skills to install it. I got his business card and found his rates to be reasonable from the start when he came over and assessed what needed to be done. When he came over, he is very PROMPT and not a minute over. He quickly got started right away and you can tell the detail workmanship he was putting into this project from the beginning. He took his time to get it right and no shortcuts were made. He was VERY considerate of the small space he had to work with. After the job he cleaned up everything and before he left he made sure I was happy (very nice service) and If I was satisfied with my new mirror sliding doors and I was. I AM SO glad I found him and how everything worked out perfectly. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Oneil to everyone! Oneil was contracted by my building to repair the ceiling as I had, and still slightly have, an issue with leaks from the roof. YAY ME! :( He was very professional working with. Like the other reviewer, Oneil gave me his card when I was in the paint section of Home Depot. I had just bought a house and knew I would need quotes for some work to be done so that was great timing. Oneil is very professional. He came to look at what I wanted done and emailed me a quote within a couple of days. When I wanted to add a couple of things to the list, he was upfront and honest and said he couldn't give me a quote without seeing the additional issues first, so he came back out again. I appreciated that he didn't just pull numbers out of the air and actually took the time to give me an accurate quote. That's why I ultimately chose him over the other contractors (I just lucked out that his quote was actually the lowest of the 4 I got). As far as his work ethic, he always arrived at the time he told me he would, and the one time he was running late because of traffic, he called to let me know. He worked quickly and efficiently and always had a great/positive attitude. I had him do a bunch of small things around the house (install new kitchen faucet and permanent shower rod, fix some molding, etc), but the major work was having him build 2 closets, one in the entryway to cover some water pipes and a walk in closet in the master bedroom. After he finished framing and drywalling the hallway closet, I really was not happy with how large it was bc it blocked a lot of the entryway (it was completely my fault since he asked me several time where he should place the wall). When I told him I wasn't happy with it, he redid the closet by pushing the wall back without any complaint - actually he assured me more than once that it was ok even though I felt really bad about having him do it over! Everything only took 2 weekends and Oneil was very particular with making sure everything was cleaned up and debris/dust was swept up before he left. It was very nice having someone so professional to work with and I would def hire him again for future jobs. read more
