I had wanted Kitchen12000 since October of 2012 & Nonee had sent me a proposal immediately as I expressed interest, but my fiance was hesitant at the time and wanted to keep searching. 6 months later after another caterer we were hoping to secure gave us a much higher estimate than we wanted, it was back to my first choice. Nonee still had the proposal & we just worked from there. Luckily, they were still available. Nonee is wonderful, she answers calls when she's sick, she responds to your questions quickly & she is so friendly. Upon meeting her & Sarah for the venue walk-through we were certain we made the right choice. These girls are beautiful, friendly and oh so professional. We attended a food tasting at their restaurant ATX in Glendale & it was amazing! They had us take notes on every dish & took our suggestions to heart to ensure that we were happy. They are truly passionate & care about their clients. They were a huge component at our wedding & we had nothing to worry about. I attended my son's wedding in Beverly Hills this weekend catered by Kitchen 12000, and was delighted by the presentation and variety of food there. The food was not only delicious, it was beautiful, too. They did such an excellent job of incorporating local, in-season produce with menu requests from the bride and groom. The salad included fresh strawberries and peaches at the peak of perfection. The quinoa had mushrooms, tarragon, and other fresh herbs. The sauce on the mussels made mussel-eaters out of people who had never even tried them before. The pommes-frittes in truffle oil were exquisite! In other words, the food was talked about well into the evening. And what an evening it was! I feel quite certain that K12000 is capable of achieving the best of everything they try. Used their to-go catering service a couple of times with no major issues, but this last time was an absolute disaster! I was expecting delivery of an order the day of the event for about 45 people, and the food never arrived!!!! Literally every host's nightmare!! I was hyperventilating as I was trying to get a hold of them on the phone and no one was answering the phone! I had to send a family member there to see what in the world happened. The only explanation we ever got was that they just hadn't prepared the order and gave us the option to deliver in 2 hours or cancel. In the meantime my guests had already arrived!!! I canceled the order and said NEVER AGAIN!! The only upside was that I had the good sense to only order the appetizers from them, not all the food. Great smiles, clever advertising, and from the reviews below, they hold up to the hype they put out...mind you, I only had their "fly high" package at the yelp event, but everything in their sample package was actually top notch and usable, unlike some swag I could mention..Other than places I already frequent (yay, artisan chocolate!), this is the only place I looked up immediately on going home. Where to begin... OK, how about with the start. First of all, Nonee & Michael Kay are great to work with. NOT snobby, yet they are a couple of cool cucumbers that didn't shy away from our specific & talent necessary requests. This was our wedding, a one shot chance to give our friends & family a wedding 'party' of a lifetime. Our friends were flying in from as far as Oslo, Norway and it was imperative that they be treated as 'guests'. Well, not only did they pull off the food, and go FAR beyond in servicing our needs, but they truly treated our friends & family the way you can only wish they would be treated. Our inspiration for our wedding 'party': an ambitious, fresh grilled menu, cooked to order, of filet mignon, wild alaskan salmon, chicken & AMAZING tofu... accompanied by assorted fresh seasonal vegetables, and some ready to eat baked four cheese macaroni. Tray passed hors d'oeuvres of tuna tartar, chicken satay and uniquely requested flakey cheese puff pastries! Open bar with a wonderful, friendly bartender... and on top of it, a ready to assist coordinator named Becky, who lived up to her statement of, "your wish is my command".... Helpful, courteous, detail oriented staff.... NEVER a bottle or napkin lying around.... this is how every dining experience should be, and this with 100 people going through plates, drinks & linens for 7 hours straight. We were told by several of our guests how nice, polite and professional K12000 staff was. I cannot tell you how happy it makes us that our guests, especially the older guests, were treated so nicely!!! The last thing I wanted was for a staff member to be rude to my parents, aunt, or friend who just flew into town to help celebrate our event! Everything, everything about our experience working with K12000 was perfection. Communication, service, willingness & ability to execute our vision.... AND for a great price!!! We just cannot say enough good things about this company. After having worked in high end restaurants, we knew what would make an exceptional experience for us and our guests... we just had no idea any catering company would be able, or be willing, to do it. From larger to smaller events, Kitchen 12000 continued to exceed our expectations on our launch event. Their food is second to none, especially the beef cheeks which was tender to the touch. Staff is always available even minutes leading up to the event to make sure everything is in order. Staff had smiles and were pleasant during the entire event, even during cleanup. Confession time: I was one of the few lucky souls to taste the delicious pork belly and beef skewers provided by the fabulous Kitchen12000 catering crew. Those folks sure have some great chefs because I am STILL daydreaming about the day I can get my fingers and tongue all over their savory skewers again. I feel like I need to call Yelp to see if we can add more stars? The second that happens, I will be giving Kitchen 12000 ten stars!!!! Here is how the universe aligned for myself and Kitchen12000 to work together. I was planning a party for my boyfriend's 30th birthday. Last minute (4 days before the party, to be more specific), I decided to have the party catered. I hopped on Yelp to get some ideas of who to reach out to and Kitchen12000 was the first listing. I sent off a quick email and received a response almost IMMEDIATELY from Chelsea! I have never hired a caterer before, so I explained what I was sort of looking for without giving too much detail and received the first estimate. I must admit, the first estimate was way out of my price range, but I just explained Chelsea more of what I was aiming for and she sent me over a list (again, almost IMMEDIATELY) of things that hit the mark! I just picked a few items, sent the order to her and that was that. Here is what was ordered: 1. Hummus with carmalized mushrooms 2. Caesar Salad 3. Beef Cheeks with cherry tomatoes 4. Cauliflower and Potato Smash 5. Roasted Seasonal Veggies Payment was a breeze and Jerry took care of this with no problem at all. The day of the party, the food arrived on time at 7:30 p.m.. Since it was a surprise party, I was not physically at the venue, but a friend of mine texted me saying that the bread was missing for the hummus. I just sent her over the phone number and minutes later I received another text saying "Not to worry! Bread is on the way!" Michael brought the bread personally and made the effort to introduce himself to me and apologize. This was not a huge issue at all, but the fact that they made the effort to bring the bread back just spoke volumes of how awesome these people are. BTW, my 80+ guests were FREAKING OUT over how good every single item was. My ego was boosted a little bit for picking the items, but let's be real, Kitchen12000 deserves every single bit of credit. We looked into Kitchen 12000 based on their stellar reviews and they certainly lived up to their reputation -- and so much more. They were incredibly professional and attentive from the moment we walked into their office all the way through the night of our wedding. Chelsea was an absolute joy to work with. We felt completely at ease and taken care-of throughout the process. From rentals, to food, to staff the Kay12 team made sure we had what we needed while working within our budget. We never felt like we were being up-sold or pressured into purchasing more services. All that being said, the only thing that exceeded their professionalism was the quality and taste of their food. Wow. They have a very diverse menu. Sampling everything at the tastings was so much fun and we were really blow away by the execution of the menu the night of the wedding (~200 guests). They went above and beyond visiting our venue to make sure the layout of the event was perfect for the space, providing gorgeous wooden tables and chairs that added to the rustic feel we wanted, and even running out the day of the wedding to get mixers for the bar that (oops) we said we would provide and didn't!! And the FOOD..... They listened to what we really wanted and created a menu tailored exactly to our tastes.
