This is a very cool shop. The guys that work here obviously have a passion for kites. They fixed my kite very inexpensively and taught me some cool kite tricks. read more

Yesterday I went along to purchase 2xboxes of rather cumbersome office furniture and upon arriving there was a staff member available to serve me (the store was busy, so unlike other stores they had numerous people on the floor available to help) and he even approached me, asking if I needed assistance. The staff member cheerfully went to fetch my boxes, walked me to the checkout and waited with me, then walked me to the carpark and put the boxes in my car! (It's a sign of the times that I'm shocked this would actually happen in real life Sydney.) I also used the laminating service, where the staff member was really friendly, attentive, and clearly knew what she was doing. When I told her I was fine to pick up my items the following day she said she would try to get them finished while I was still in the store! This is not the first time I have experienced this type of service (but I warn you, only at THIS Officeworks store, I have actually sent emails of complaint to head office about Broadway, where I was fined for parking, legally in THEIR carpark, while shopping.) Whatever Officeworks Alexandria are doing to train their staff, they are doing it right! Parking (1 hour) is available right out front in a small purpose-built carpark. Head to Officeworks Alexandria and enjoy the difference.

My dear Wife (and our friends) were most patient as I wandered through this relatively small and dense selection of ballpoints, rollerballs, fountain pens, and other writing tools. They were also surprised that I came back with very little to show for what is one of my favorite types of places to shop. Why? One is that I already own a number of these pens, especially Lamy. Second, very little caught my eye. And Third, I found the store person to be a little less engaged than what I find in shops founded by true believers. Price wasn't really a factor this time around, and I'd love to come in again and give it another go.

The service is professional and the staff have good knowledge about the pens.

Three things you want from a framer: a good range of materials, some creative advice about how to put a piece together, and an efficient delivery framework. The Framing Workshop came up trumps on all these, even though I was actually after mirrors and not art! This is a business that the proprietor sinks his heart into. It's also in a fab location - in amongst the re-purposed Georges Heights Harbour Trust development, with the added advantage of parking right outside the door, so when you collect up your prized framed pieces, its a cinch to get them into the car.

I have used Framing Workshop for all of my framing needs since that time. I am delighted to report that, in my experience, Richard's work is of excellent quality. As an added bonus, he is pleasant, prompt and diligent. He also has a keen eye for aesthetics, but is far too polite to judge the customer's taste. He will also recommend less extravagant/expensive options for the customer's consideration. The location of the shop is such that it is always a pleasant diversion to go there. We went in with a number of items and whilst I had ideas, really needed some direction. Toohey was terrific. He seemed to just get it and immediately picked the perfect frame and mount for each of the items I had. A number were antique maps so I didn't want them glued down like so many of the other insist need doing. Instead he did proper hinges. We picked up this weekend and were delighted. They look so so good and the quality is top notch. The flag that was being framed and float mounted, you can't see how it is attached to the board which is ideal. The others are mounted in ways that just make the maps and detail pop. The icing on the cake was the bill. They may not be the cheapest, and compete with those that frame through factories off-site, but you get the quality of a true craftsman at very reasonable prices. I cannot praise this experience highly enough and I will be back in a few weeks to get some of my previous disasters re-framed! Thank you

I was recently in the neighborhood looking for supplies to make my fascinator for Melbourne Cup. The Lincraft staff sent me across the way to Eckersley's and I was able to find exactly what I was looking for. Their individual paper selection here is incredible. Not cheap though, that's for sure. I think each individual paper sheet I chose was around $3 a piece. Eckersley's also has a great selection of painting supplies, brushes, canvasses, etc. This is a shop for the serious artist or the crafter who wants to ensure their hard work is accented by only the finest materials. I wouldn't personally be able to afford sourcing all materials for a project here, but it's definitely worth dropping a dime on crucial accent supplies. The staff is friendly, the store is well stocked and the quality is high.

I found it confusing because it is multi-faceted. Downstairs you enter off Ethel Street to an art gallery. If you weren't determinedly seeking it out, you could easily miss the fact that a back staircase leads to a large and densely packed store full of papers and presentation folders and easels and paint brushes and a kaleidoscope of coloured paint. In fact they encourage you to use the back entrance, which involves turning up a ramp off Ethel Street that appears to lead to either a roof terrace or a carpark - not an art supply store. Staff are passionate about what they sell - no doubt most of them are working there to supplement their own creative efforts. Not so sure about the art in the gallery, but can't leave the store without the weapons to tackle some new project myself.
