Nothing else factoid wise to add since the previous other two Yelp posts were thorough…read more Crossed this bridge a gazillion times to head downtown or to catch a ferry to Seattle. Summer quarter 1985 as a ferry commuter. Lots of fun crossing it with a scooter when it was much narrower. And tomorrow marks the third year of my late father's passing. We rented a boat from Port Orchard that enabled a family memorial service to scatter his remains near the renovated Manette Bridge. It was his wish to be able to see the ferries and the Naval Base Kitsap (or as we knew it as Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, moved to Bremerton back in 1973). Hey Dad, now you're on Yelp! One my biggest culinary influences, seems fitting to write this post tonight (6/26/18).

Nice bridge! It's narrow two-lanes, 321 feet long, 82 feet above the Port Washington Narrows…read more One side is a little ways from Bremerton's downtown, the other side lands you directly in Manette which was once upon a time long long ago a separate town but is has been officially part of Bremerton since even before there was a bridge to cross. Manette retains it's own identity even so, which isn't nearly as low class as the main city. Manette strives to be attractive and a mite upscale and mainly succeeds, but nothing pretentious, a comfortable village feeling to it all. The bridge has been rebuilt a couple of times so despite that it dates to 1930 today's bridge is not old (rebuilt in 2012), but it still has a rustic feeling to it. It used to be scary to walk across but now has a pedestrian walkway deserving of the name.
