The most beautiful rocks on the beach only second to scenic beach park in seabeck. Near silverdale but both places get their rocks from the Olympic mountain range across Hood Canal. Great place to bring dogs for a romp in the beach which isn't very busy cause most of the park activities take place above the cliff. Camping. Playground .fields. My review is based primarily on RV camping. We recently stayed at Kitsap Memorial State Park in our 25' fifth wheel. Some of the RV sites are very small (sites 1-3) but still easy to navigate a rig into it. We were in site 2 and we barely had much room for chairs outside. And we could literally reach over and touch site 3s RV. The other RV sites (4-8) are roomier but shorter. They are divided by a wooden fence so it felt like being in a corral. Only a few of the RV spots have sewer at the site., which was surprising since a lot of the state parks have soldered them closed. There is no main sewer dump (there used to be one but it is no longer working) but you are allowed to pull in and dump sewage in an empty site if one is open. The park itself is very well maintained but not much in the way of trails. There are several large grassy areas and a playground. The park is super easy to get to and the staff were very friendly. Definitely not my favorite for camping but it would do in a pinch when we just need a change of scenery. read more

We got our reservations several months in advance as we were camping on Memorial Day weekend. The kiddos that came along had a great time finding crabs all along the beach. The camp host gave out stickers and chalk to the kids and they really enjoyed this. While the camping sites are close together, we had a nice little shaded nook. Couple of cons- the RV sites are very close together so plan on hearing your neighbors. The other con was the cleanliness of the bathrooms - likely due to other campers and not really management's fault. Most of the toilets had pee all over them. Yuck! C'mon people! FYI - There are several stall for toilets and separate stalls for showers/sinks. You have to buy tokens to take a shower - each token gives you 3 min. 2 tokens were perfect and the water was warm for the most part (short periods where it was lukewarm). read more

This campground is located in arguably the best spot on the Kitsap Peninsula. You get long, late sunsets on the west side of the Hood Canal. There is a little landing to the water to take a romantic stroll on the beach. The amenities include (pay) hot showers and plenty of restrooms. We had a beautiful hiker/biker campsite in the woods, the only drawback being that it is right next to the gate and there are plenty of yahoos coming in and out late at night and you hear the gate opening and closing and them revving their motors. read more

The park is ok, kinda small, but it's nice if you just want to get away for a quick weekend. But my issue was getting the water turned on for the trailer. The reservation site didn't say anything about not turning the water on until April 15! Our original site didn't have water because the valve was in two feet of freezing water. The nozzel was rusted off, but I did get it turned on for a few minutes, then it started flooding the ground around me. I finally got it shut off, but was I completely soaked and frozen!! One of the host came by but they didn't help, so I just moved over one spot. The park ranger and the rest of the staff were really nice and we did end up having a nice time. ps - RV sites are REALLY CLOSE together! read more

I went camping here last year and really enjoyed this park. The park host is helpful and friendly. They helped us with our site as someone had not marked our site properly from our reservation. We only spent a couple nights here and will return again for a future camping experience. The breach access is simple here although the beach area is small compared to other parks. This is a clean well maintained park. I decided to stop by again today to enjoy the last of the week's warm weather and find this to be a nice stop for weekdays and picnics. read more

Small gem of a park just south of the Hood Canal bridge, about ten minutes outside Poulsbo. On this past Labor Day weekend, it was dead quiet despite decent weather. I was here for a wedding, and the park served as a fantastic venue! The bridal party got ready in the little two-room cabin adjacent to the main park building. The ceremony was held outdoors, under the large timber picnic shelter with a sweeping view out towards the water. And the night continued in the big event hall, which is a very cool building built of solid logs, with big swinging barn doors that open up onto a bluff overlooking the Puget Sound. The ceiling logs are wrapped with white Christmas lights, which is beautiful and gives the room a great ambiance. There was plenty of room inside for a dinner with about 100 people and a band/dance floor. A short walk down the hill drops you onto a beach area, though at high tide there was no real beach to walk on. After the wedding, the wedding party and friends hoofed it just a few minutes up the road to the group campsite we'd reserved, where the party continued until the wee hours of the morning! The next day, we dragged ourselves into the car and headed 15 minutes south to the Squamish Clearwater Casino for a big buffet breakfast - perfect post-wedding fare. read more

I came to visit the park and fell in love with it - right on the Hood Canal with towering trees, 4 cabins, RV and tent. I will try to make this both a review of the park and the wedding venue as I am experiencing both. I stayed here overnight in one of the cabins (be sure to bring your own sheets, blankets, pillow and towel if you want to take a shower). It was perfect for overnight - a set of bunk beds though I slept on the futon as it was more open, mini fridge, microwave, table, coffee table & code lock. I am beyond excited that I will be getting married here October 2017! To book the venue, it opens up one year in advance on the first day of the month, so for October 2017, it opened for reservations on 10/1/16 at 8:30 AM. I got there about 7:20 and there were already two women there, so get there early if you have your heart set on a date! For the wedding venue, you can book "the package," which includes the log hall (open hall with restrooms, a coat rack & white Christmas lights inside!), the Pavilion (concrete base with open-air overhang) & caterer's kitchen for under $1500 which is very reasonable in the Seattle area. We are booking the hospitality house as well for many reasons: we can use it as a freshening up room, we think it'd be weird to have someone staying so close during our wedding celebration. Also, it opens up the areas that you can take pictures in. There are tables and chairs for an additional fee & keep in mind that all cars will need a Discover Pass which is $10 per day or $30 per year. We got the annual pass and have already gotten our money's worth. We are hoping to get a shuttle from the hotel to minimize the amount of passes we will need. So far, they have been very responsive & I will update my review after our wedding too :) read more

If you are a tent camper it the park is a 5 STAR place, if you want a place for a picnic with bathrooms, kids park, and the beach 5 START...IF however you have a camper and are looking for hookups and camping you will get more privacy in your driveway. The sites have NOTHING between them, your table is right next to the sewer line for the camper next to you! GROSS! There is a HUGE park area across the road from the hook up sites, CLOSE half the sites move the cross the road and put some brush or trees between campers! PS. Beautiful little state park near the Hood Canal Bridge. Beach, forest, picnic tables, restrooms, playground, camping area, cabins... I often stop by here as it makes a convenient rest stop or lunch spot when travelling to/from the Olympic Peninsula. The restrooms are clean and well-lit, the picnic tables are in good shape and there is usually a choice of shaded or not, the beach and the water view are great. Free! read more

This is a beautiful waterside park run by the State, that's fun to walk around in or hold a wedding. It's versatile! I've been to company picnics here, and it's wonderful. There's a covered Log Pavilion and Caterer's Kitchen. I like the Log Hall the best, though. All wood and just exquisite. There's even a quaint wooden house available for rent here. read more

Beautiful scenery. Campsites are tiny and lots of blackberry bushes creeping into them. We camped next to the campground host. We went to buy two bundles of firewood at five bucks each. We tried to pay with a twenty and they said they didn't have change. So we had to buy four bundles. I doubt we'll use it all. The next morning someone else walked up to buy wood and they were also told that they had no change. Seems like a scam to me but whatever. read more

The grounds were lovely and flat, which made the seating arrangements easy to align, and the lawn games easy to play. The vista of the lake was just gorgeous, and really added to the wonderful ambiance. Had my wedding here the past weekend. The weather had turned on us and we decided to move the ceremony indoors. The ranger came by and suggested we just get it over with and get the people out of there because the weather was bad!!! Give me a break, we didn't spend this kind of money to just walk away. Sure we announced for every one to be cautious but weren't about to pack it up. Then the power went out, no worries we were able to roll with it and proceeded by candle light. Everyone in high spirits and ready to make the best of it. Ceremony went off better than it could of any other way!!! Weather calmed about 20 minutes later, and power returned. Everything went great. Ranger came by again at 9:30, and talked to me directly and stated pretty rudely that "we better getting rolling it up because we only have the hall till ten and that means outta the parking lot" ok that's how we did it, no worries. Kinda funny they weren't there to open the hall at said time on the contract.. Still whatever, we had paid a pretty penny to rent the hall for the next day, the whole day!! Until 10pm To allow clean up and to have our family there for lunch and spend the day together since we were staying that night there as well in the cabins. The ranger came by in the morning during breakfast and had told people we only had the hall till one.. So a lot of people started breaking down and cleaning up to help us out... Until I stopped them and had to figure out what was going on !!! They had already knocked out most of the clean up and broke down stuff we wanted up still. Then a different rep of the park came by to tell us that no he was wrong and yeah we have it till ten that night !!! But again the ranger came by about forty minutes later to see if we were almost out !! I told him to his face "hey we have this place till ten, if we get finished early I'll let the office know" But NO he came back around again about forty minutes later again!! And said "Looks like your making progress" what the hell Then we did start cleaning and finishing up more, but weren't necessarily finshed But here comes ranger and goes on inside and locks double doors and says to keep doors closed to not let heat out... We still had stuff set up, and we're planning on hanging out for awhile more since it was four in the afternoon but here he comes So finnally so annoyed I say yeah ok we'll get outta here we broke it down and decided to head to poulsbo for dinner.. Think the park should get a concierge who handles guest realations in the wedding events, I'm quite sure weddings are their lifeblood in keeping the park afloat and doing well. Ranger also went by my parents cabin and harassed them over a parking permit after it had been handled two days prior... The whole ranger thing was Just a hassle that was not appreciated..... The park and everything else was very nice read more

I grew up in Kitsap, then moved to the Seattle side of the water a few years ago. I've always liked this state park - been to lots of daytime events there throughout the years - but never went there for an overnight stay until this past weekend. Five adults, three teens, and one kiddo of six. I'd absolutely give our "camping" experience (although with hot showers, flushing toilets, and Hilltop Grocery/Wal-Mart just a couple miles away, it's not true camping) five stars, except for two things: 1. Too crowded! Given, it's the middle of August, and nice weekends for camping are in short supply in western WA. Stillllll, not keen on hearing screaming babies, barking dogs, or drunken revelers at 2 in the morning through a two-tree-wide thicket of brush separating our campsite from theirs. 2. One of the "hosts" was decidedly jerkish. I realize that giving people parking tickets probably helps pay his salary, but calling tow trucks without warning is pretty awful. He also pounded on my window while I was sitting in my car, parked in a normal parking spot, in broad daylight, and told me that my car wasn't allowed to be there without a hangtag (which the registration booth was out of, so they'd given us a secondary type of permit to display in our window). He wasn't keen on hearing my explanation, either. One of the other guys in the group had been out to stay at KMSP before and said he'd had a similarly negative experience with the same host before as well, almost a year prior - so it wasn't like the host just got up on the wrong side of the bed that day! So minus those two things... solid four stars. Nice park, well-maintained, friendly staff except for the jerkface I mentioned, and even a gorgeous area for weddings! This is a really family-friendly camping spot. read more

Kitsap was a gorgeous and affordable location - our pictures are beautiful and it gave our out of town relatives a great taste of the Pacific Northwest. We liked that we could bring in our own vendors with no restrictions. They are, however, a little disorganized - they double booked half the cabins we rented for the night of the wedding. A great venue if you are flexible and organized enough to handle last minute issues and to come in knowing exactly what you need and when you need it. read more

This place is beautiful, the view right on the water was amazing, but I am giving this place 2 stars BC the camp sites were too close together and for the RV area there is no trees to shade the site. The camp hosts were extremely nice. But our last day there was a younger girl with blonde hair that camp up yo our site that worked for the site that was extremely rude. She never once gave us a chance to talk and was extremely aggressive. We had originally rented an RV area for the weekend and paid for electricity but bc the area was so hot and offered no shade we asked the camp hosts if we could move closer to our party and in the shaded area. They allowed us to do that and then let us plug our RV into their plug for just the last day that we were there since we were still paying for the other spot as well. When the blonde young last came to our site pounding on the door she told us she had unplugged us from the spot and that we can't have our plug there and that we didn't pay for it and it's not allowed. She wouldn't even listen to us tell her that we were paying for it but at a different location. She said if we have a problem and don't get it she will bring the park ranger over. We kept telling her OK yes we understand but she was like it doesn't matter I already pulled your plug. She could have been a lot nicer. We were not trying to disrespect or disregard her, the camp host told us that it was fine. read more

Locked out of cabin. Late check-in policy different than the several other state parks I've been to (you need to call and get the code early!). No camp host on site (despite signage saying there was - was directed to someone's RV who was definitely not the camp host and was surprised to see us). No ranger on site, and couldn't get through to the number shown on the entrance kiosk. Cabin was advertised as having a 'kitchenette with a mini-fridge and a microwave', but it was actually just a mini-fridge with a microwave on top of it, from what I could see peering in the window. (Other cabins in state park system advertised as having a kitchenette have a sink and cupboards.) read more

My husband and I stayed in one of their cabins that's $65 a night. To our pleasant surprise, it had electricity, a refrigerator and microwave! They also have a covered front porch, and a firepit. We went there on a Saturday in late spring and only came across 2 other people while walking around. The beach was beautiful and serene, the camp host Arnie was super friendly and sold us firewood, and the bathrooms were clean. This would be a great place to bring families or dogs. read more

This park is a gem in the rough, the very, very rough. A day trip here includes the usual spectacular Pacific Northwest scenery and would likely be enjoyable. However, I would suggest you avoid camping or staying overnight in an RV or cabin. The campsites, RV spots and cabins are cheek to cheek and the RV spots and cabins have no tree cover for either privacy or protection from the sun. Especially avoid cabin 4 as someone has thoughtfully placed it within inches of the septic holding tanks and you'll spend the weekend feeling like you're staying in a port-a-potty. read more

This is a well maintained, small campground right on the water. It's gorgeous and we had a lot of fun here. Pros - clean bathrooms, ocean with fishing and crabbing, trails and loop for biking, park Cons - this is a popular wedding venue. You will hear music, cheers, and deal with drunk wedding attendees. Sites 35 & 36 back to forest, but behind that is a residence with both goats AND a rooster. The sites are very small. I would not recommend more than one tent, or one tent trailer unless you want to be steps away and not use the fire pit. Other than that, our family had an amazing time. The beach is clean, the staff is helpful and we will be back. read more

This state park campground is well maintained, however the RV spots are so small that you have to ask your neighbor to pull in their slight out so you can open your door. The fire pits are cramped in the back corner and only will make your neighbors unhappy if used. The sewer drains of the neighbors are below your table. It's even worse than some of the KOA's that close. And everybody "must" have their towing vehicle at the same spot (not a state park requirement), instead of using the free parking spots just across the center field. Obviously very disappointing to see how this place is being organized. WA state parks get your act together and improve your campgrounds based on the enormous increase of demand for camping spots!! Oh,... en don't expect any water pressure. read more

We held our wedding here in April, and we couldn't have found a more perfect spot. The setting is gorgeous, rustic but warm and cozy, beautiful trees and view of water. The nearby hospitality cabin is the perfect spot for the wedding couple to stay before and the night of, and makes a wonderful "getting ready" location. The park staff was so helpful, accommodating and friendly. We loved our time here, and will be coming back for anniversaries, I'm sure! read more

The park is beautiful, especially for weddings, but for camping ... I won't be doing that again. The full hook up sites are extremely close together. We were new to camping when we went during Memorial Day weekend. The place was packed. Which was fine, but I could almost reach out and touch the neighbors on both sides of me. I was nervous that it would be loud with so many people in the park, but everyone was very respectful of the quiet hours and we did not have any obnoxious drunks around. But waaaaaaaaay to small of spots to ever want to go back and I'm not even in a big trailer! I'm in a pop-up trailer, which is pretty small and compact. It's a gem of a park, just not for me to be lined up like sardines for camping. read more

This is a fantastic wedding venue. We received so many compliments on how amazing this place is. The view of the Olympic mountains and Hood Canal is breathtaking. When renting for a wedding, you have use of a personal, furnished cabin for pre-wedding prep and to retire to for the night, a covered open air pavilion, and the amazing log cabin hall. The park staff is fantastic to work with. I really can't say enough about how great this place is. We're so happy we were able to marry here. read more
