But first well stop at the little side kitchen where you can help yourself to coffee, tea, soda and water. For a charge they also have wine and beer available. This is also where you hang your key when you leave the house so they know who is here. We got the Under the Apple Tree Room which was spacious and nicely decorated. It even had its own private yard. Also has gas fireplace, jacuzzi style tub and stand up shower. The heated bathroom floor was a nice touch. If you get tired of your room you can also enjoy sitting outside on a deck or the living room. We really enjoyed relaxing on the couch back in our room in front of the fire place. Morning came a bit too soon. Was hard to get up out of the super comfortable down blankets on the King bed. The breakfast was ready though and included three delicious courses. Polenta with almonds, banana kirsch, and smoked salmon with poached egg on toasted croissant. Yum. Virginia's breakfast was all the better by Brian's entertaining stories of 5 years in the service business now.

Our room was big and comfy with a remote control fireplace that adds real heat into the room and a large old school bathtub. Big enough for two.... Breakfast was delicious! Three courses, one of the fanciest I've had and the daytime butler service around breakfast time was a real treat. Fantastic time! I highly recommend the Thistledown house.

The Condo also had a nice view of the skyline and a nice living room to relax and take it all in. The unit was also clean and well appointed. There were a few "negatives": 1. The pool and gym require a walk over to the nearby Sheraton. We also found that with Uber, it's best to go over to Sheraton for pickup and drop off as the algorithm can't seem to comprehend 1080 Hornby Street. 2. Even with AC within this hot Vancouver week, the Condo was stuffy and required multiple fans to help with overall comfort. 3. This Condo had no balcony or other outdoor hangout option, other than finding a local park.

For all the floors in the buildings, the elevators were pretty quick. We made our way to the 23rd floor to our apartment style hotel that we would be staying at for the next 5 nights. We entered and there was a washer and dryer, and a large closet that had the broom and a fan. I think the safe was also in the closet. The kitchen space was great to have a full sized fridge, stove, coffee maker, and lots of pots and pans and utensils. This was very convenient as we went to get groceries for breakfast every day. The seating area had a tv, and counter place for when we ate. It wasn't big and there was no dining table but it was sufficient. There was also a temperature control in this space. Both bedrooms were spacious with one having large windows with great views of downtown. The other room had a small window. There were 2 bathrooms, and one that was in the area of the smaller bedroom. The other bathroom was spacious. There's a parkade and it's secure requiring the room key to enter and exit, and also enter the elevator. We didn't have an issue to find a parking space during our stay. During our stay, they were were accommodating when we requested more coffee, paper towels, and laundry pods. The only complaints I have were that it could get noisy from all the sirens in the night, and that our bedroom could get cold at night. Otherwise, everything about this place was great! There's a games room with a ping pong table, pool table, and many books. The location was also great and convenient to be downtown.

This is a former apartment complex that has been repurposed into a hotel. The property is dated. Lots of new paint over old construction. That elevator is pretty funky! But the room itself is very spacious. Depending on what unit you get, you have at least a full separate bedroom, and a fully functioning kitchen with a large refrigerator. I couldn't get the heater in my unit to work properly, but there were extra blankets so we were ok. Parking can be a serious pain. It's a very tiny garage that you have to squeeze in very carefully. I'm sure lots of cars were dinged here. Don't even think about trying to park on the street. Luckily this property is close to a lot of basic things such as decent eateries, a small market, and even Stanley Park which is a short 10-12 minute walk, so you don't have to drive too much if you don't want to. I had a very cozy experience here. I paid 200 Canadian Dollars (about $150US) per night here. I thought it was an outstanding value. I got great service as well. We arrived very early. Around 9am. But our room was ready so the staff let us check in right away. This was a good experience for those looking for a decent place to stay in the Vancouver area.

We stayed in room #3 that has AC, This one is an en-suite bedroom. Room 3 seems to be the smallest one compare to all others. We did peek into room #1 and it was larger. Pros: #1: close proximity to English Bay and #1 rated Stanley Park. Within walking distance to many restaurants. Stanley Park has Brewery that is within 5 minute walking distance from the Inn. #2: free parking spaces (3) in the back if space is available. must request ahead of time. #3: very romantic, cozy setting with lots of furnishings to go with name like English Bay Inn. Had port wine with several glasses to use. #4: Yes, the breakfast and the friendly staff serving you in the morning. The staff is very personable and paid attention to details. Cons: #3 being the smallest, we did not have enough room to open the suitcase fully but somehow managed it. If you are big, you will definitely hate this room. We just checked out, and during this time of the year (May) there are beautiful flower blooms and weather to go with the charming house. My parents booked unit 6, the attic. My husband, son, my brother and I had unit 5, the basement. For Unit 6, you enter into a seating area, then go up another flight of stairs to another small seating area, the bed area and a pretty good sized bathroom. Our basement until (in photos) has a small kitchen, small dining room, and two sleeping areas. My brother was with us just one night so he took the back bedroom, and when he left our son took the bedroom. With either situation the basement was enough room for us. If you are visiting with a child, I'd recommend booking the basement to keep the rest of the house quiet for the other guests. The only downside for the basement unit is that you don't get the wonderful breakfast with it. My parents and my husband and I switched off going to breakfast on different mornings since the attic unit does include breakfast. They thoroughly enjoyed their omelet breakfast and declared that we'll enjoy our turn the next day - and we did enjoy it this morning! We had muffins, fruit salad, and delicious Eggs Benedict with corned beef, small salad, sprouts and grilled tomatoes. A gentleman sitting in front of me had the omelets the day before and asked for fruit and cereal instead today, and they happily supplied him with what he asked for. The house is obviously an older house. It's nothing like staying at a brand new five star hotel, but you can say that's all part of the charm of it. When I visit Vancouver again, I plan to book with them again as long as they have availability. The Inn is also very nicely located. You can walk a short block down to the bay and take a nice walk one way to Stanley Park (the entrance is one block north), or walk south to a popular beach and restaurant area. If you are driving, make sure to request a reserved parking space (there are only 3). I'm a fan, and if you enjoy character and supporting small quality businesses with caretakers who want to make your trip enjoyable, book with them!

It didn't bother me because I had earplugs and I kind of like the sound of the city and the train. But if you're not used to that, it might be disruptive. The elevator smelled like cigarettes. The shower pressure was very weak, the worst I've experienced. The room temperature did not exceed 20ish Celsius. There was only one lamp for us. The fixture for the AC installment was just a piece of painted plywood. I would definitely come back. The location and neighborhood is great. It has everything one could need such as grocery store, movies, skytrain, restaurants, and other places to go. We got lucky with parking during the weekend. It's free from after 8pm to 12pm. But if we had to spend a weekday there, I wouldn't know where to park.

The hotel is also secure and safe with locking front doors after a certain hour, and an elevator activated by key card. I learned on my last night there that they offer snacks for a Sober Night In, which I thought was a cool perk. The lobby hosts chip snacks and non-alcoholic cocktails all evening. Very considerate for guest safety. The only thing that lacked was the showerhead in the bathroom. It was downright atrocious. The water pressure was non existent in my room. Maybe it is better in others. The temperature was great though so if you're a bath person then you'll be just fine.

In the room there's a fridge that they replace bottled water with free for you and cream for the nescafe coffee, which I actually really like I've never had it before. There's lots of Lights and a big giant television. The bathroom is Tiny and there's the most absurdly little sink that is also kind of cute. I didn't care what the bathroom size because I didn't find a big bathroom really necessary. Every night from 7:00 to 10:00 they have a non-alcoholic happy hour in the lobby where you can get cans of non-alcoholic cocktails and chips. One night they didn't have chips so they gave me two drinks, although drinks are unlimited they made me take two. In the basement there is a microwave for everyone to use, and washer and dryer. You can borrow a bike and an umbrella. I am definitely staying here the next time I go to Vancouver
