This should've been written a few years ago when friends were in town. Great location but that's about it. Small rooms, no fancy amenities, lobby-less but worse is the staff attitude, that's what stood out. To pay the high rates simply to be close Stanley Park---so not worth it.

I needed to find a place in town where my grandparents, aunts, uncle, cousin and brother could all stay when they were visiting for my wedding. Since my grandma has a hard time being out and about all day, I wanted to find a place that would be comfortable for her in case she wanted to hang back while the rest of the family ventured out. The idea of my grandma sitting alone in a standard hotel room depressed me, but then I found the Rosellen. The Rosellen is hotel situated in an older building that used to be a condo. It does have an older feel to it so if you are looking for ultra modern and trendy, this is not the hotel for you. If you are looking for suites that can sleep up to seven people, then this might just be your place. My family liked it because their suite came with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a nice sized kitchen, a dining room, and a living room so everyone could spread out without being on top of each other. I scoped out the hotel before recommending it to my family and I was immediately sold through my interaction with Jean, the manager. He was so sweet and accommodating and gave me the confidence that my family would be in good hands. The Rosellen is in the West End in a quiet, residential neighbourhood within easy walking distance to Stanley Park and English Bay. There are plenty of dining options on Denman Street, which is only a few blocks from the Rosellen. The largest suite at the Rosellen is called the Katherine Hepburn Suite, because Katherine Hepburn stayed there when she was making a movie in Vancouver. She wanted to stay as close to Stanley Park as possible and so she made the Rosellen her temporary home. This penthouse suite has a huge deck, BBQ, and beautiful views.

We spent two nights here. We stayed in a one bedroom classic suite. The apartment was clean and fully furnished, cable TV, fully stocked kitchen (décor just slighted dated). Location is good, within walking distance of a number of restaurants, grocery store, Starbucks. Stanley Park 15 minute walk too. Tree lined streets made this place feel like home and not a hotel. Check in was efficient and he was very helpful.

I've always…read morewanted to stay at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia (on W Georgia St) or the L'Hermitage Hotel (on Richards St) as they're located closer to the places I frequented when in town so this time, I checked on availability and pricing. A one-bedroom signature suite at L'Hermitage was significantly less than a regular room at the Pan Pacific and the Rosewood so I booked 3 nights ($625CAD/night). I got off the Silver Moon at 9:45am, handed my luggage off to a representative from Luggage Forward, and walked from the cruise terminal up to the hotel. My room wasn't ready, so I dropped off my carry-on and backpack and went shopping and to have lunch. I was still on my way to CF Pacific Centre when the front desk called, informing me my room was ready. I told them I'd return after lunch. Wow, I loved my room (707)! As you entered through a short hallway, you found yourself looking at a full kitchen to your right, bathroom to your left and then the bedroom, past a closet housing a stack washer/dryer. The living room was bright and airy because there were walls of glass. Past the kitchen was a den with a desk and sofa. Off the living room was a small lanai overlooking the pool. The kitchen featured a gas range, full-sized refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. It was like a timeshare unit, not a hotel room, as there was tableware, glassware, etc. The only nitpick was the bathroom; it didn't quite measure up to the rest of the unit. It was small, with a full-sized glass-enclosed tub, a Toto (but without the washlet) toilet, and a small vanity and shelf unit opposite the vanity. It was totally functional, but I wished the tub had a shower wand, not just the rain head. If I could, I'd want this room moved to Hawaii to become my residence. The front desk staff were personable and friendly. The exercise facilities were fine. The L'Orangerie restaurant is located on the 5th floor ... more on that in a separate review. All told, I found the L'Hermitage to be perfect for me and will now be my hotel of choice when in Vancouver.

My favorite amenities--clothing steamer and hot water kettle--were promptly delivered. What's better than tea and wrinkle-free clothes? The room was quiet and afforded me uninterrupted sleep. The lighting at the desk caused my colleagues to compliment my visage on video conference calls. The location was an easy walk to everywhere I needed to go in Vancouver. L'Orangerie, the dining room and lounge on the fifth floor, was a lovely place to take tea and lunch. My dining companion and I had the place nearly to ourselves. On my next visit to Vancouver, I hope I'll be lucky enough to stay at L'Hermitage again.

Date of visit: July 15-16, 2025…read more Consider this hotel if you're leaving out of Vancouver for a cruise; it was wonderful and a short walk to the terminal with our bags. You could also take a car but unless the weather is bad or you have mobility issues, it is just as easy to walk over to the terminal. We were in before to check in and because of the cruise, rooms were not ready early. But they took our bags and gave us warm, delicious cookies! When we returned later to check in, we received more cookies. (Insert Cookie Monster meme here.) All of the staff we encountered was very friendly, even the security guard on Hastings Street, though he didn't tell us that if we would just walk around the corner to Seymour there is an entrance without stairs that is better for luggage... We didn't bother with the restaurant after seeing the prices, but we can say that the rooms are lovely. Our suite was perfect for three people, with a nice living room area and a separate bedroom though the closet was very small for a room that could potentially accommodate four people. With the exception of a very worn out, past its prime chair, everything in the room from the furniture to the bathroom was in great condition, too.

The room itself is small and bathroom has only 1 sink and is hard to handle 2 people being in there at the same time. We were on the 17th floor with a corner room with a good view for 2 nights. We ate breakfast downstairs and the servers were awesome and food was fantastic. This is a nice place to stay and close to restaurants in the downtown area.
