We had Jack as our instructor and he was a great teacher showing us at the beginning on the sand how the beach and tides works with rip currents, sandbars, and dangerous lightning storms. If you are in the slightest way considering taking a lesson book one. The surf shop also has a great selection of hats, shirts, swimsuits, and surf gear. The selection is great for both men and women and the prices are very reasonable. We purchased some merchandise and had a great time in our surfing lessons. This 53 year old grandma got up and relaxed into being up on the board and riding the waves in! We had another very athletic 27 year old Jiu Jitsu young woman who also learned from scratch. We had James-O and Tory and Julien and they were all great! James-O especially really took us under his wing. Very encouraging with perfect instruction. They taught us how to choose waves. It was SUPER helpful for the beginners that they would give our boards a push to get us up to the right speed at the right time. I cannot recommend them enough!

The digital waiver process is the simplest experienced so far on our trip. The launch dock and crew were helpful and upbeat. The path to take lead us under a really cool looking covered bridge and another concrete bridge. Lots of turtles and plenty of shade. We went an hour out and then one back to the dock. There was no current and the kayaking was superb - very quiet, Carolina blue sky and plenty of laughs to motivate your strokes. Their is a water hose to rinse off the canal water before you get back in the car which we all took advantage of ( one in our party tipped over ). You pay after the trip is over and for us (five boats and six people - we paid $220. Remember to tip the teenagers

Most parents drop their kids off and take care of business, but I always stick around. Two main reasons Im recommending this camp: 1. They take smaller groups of kids. Youll see another camp two streets over that has twice as many kids... as with any school, you want smaller class size. 2. Jason and his team know that this is all about fun and confidence generation, not grooming pro surfers. I've watched them get kids of all abilities to smile, by pumping kids up when they catch a wave, to giving special attention to those who are spooked or tentative. Two days there were zero waves at all... didnt matter, they paddled around and had competitions and team building exercises. My kids were just as happy as when they were catching waves.
