Umami! Fan of Japanese cuisine? Absolute must try!
In all my High Street strolls familiarizing myself with BGC alongside a PH native, somehow four eyes missed this literal hidden gem nestled underneath the second floor staircase that is the Kiwami food hall. See the host stand outside for seating. On a Friday afternoon for lunch there was no wait and ample open tables.
Food:
Delightfully delicious! Save sushi for another time, there's plenty of scrumptious dishes here - including dessert (Hokkaido soft serve). Peep my menu pics for options including yakitori, ramen, tempura, and katsu.
I shared the Yabu agadeshi tofu, Ippudo goma-q (pickled cucumber), Ippudo pork bun, and the signature yakitori platter chefs plate A, alongside a pint of Sapporo and thirst quenching bottomless lychee peach iced tea. Sadly, there was no room for dessert...this time. Happily, I have no notes, no disappointments, no discrepancies! The food tastes as good as it looks with fan favorite stand out dishes like the yakitori platter and Yabu agadashi tofu that swims in a soy-dashi sauce I lapped up like my thirsty frenchie, Max.
Service:
On it! The bottomless iced tea (sarap) really is bottomless! Our server was so great, I forgot to get her name. They even cared to know how they were doing by asking us to fill out a survey.
Ambiance:
Adorable. Clean. Cute. Cold! It must be to keep the Hokkaido soft serve from going too soft. That said, the Philippines is known to be on the warm side so it's to be expected. Given how fresh the food hall looks inside and being new to me, I could've sworn it was a brand new establishment. It's not. It's just that tidy.
I look forward to trying more from the menu next time, being sure to leave room for dessert and I highly recommend you do too.
Outstanding job well done Kiwami! Thank you. read more
