I have extensive experience with piercings and…read morefacial modifications, including multiple nostril and philtrum piercings, so I am very familiar with what a normal piercing appointment looks like. From the beginning, I had concerns. The owner was about 10 minutes late to open the studio, leaving me standing outside calling the shop while I could hear the phone ringing inside. Once the appointment began, the piercer ownermarked my high nostrils, and I immediately pointed out that the markings did not look symmetrical. After some discussion, I ultimately trusted his professional judgment and proceeded. The first piercing was placed extremely high, essentially in the upper bony portion of my nose. I was already surprised by the placement, but decided to proceed with the second side. The second piercing was placed significantly higher than the first and visibly crooked/asymmetrical. During the piercing, my septum was also accidentally pierced/punctured, resulting in a substantial amount of bleeding. I immediately decided I did not want to keep them and asked for both to be removed. Removal took approximately 10 minutes. The piercer struggled to remove the jewelry using a large curved hemostat because of how deeply/highly the jewelry had been placed. I was visibly panicking during the removal, and the bleeding continued for quite some time after I left the studio. What concerned me most afterward was the proposed solution. Rather than simply acknowledging that the placement was unsuccessful and allowing the tissue to heal, I was offered the option of immediately re-piercing the area. I was also told I could walk around with one high nostril and return later for the other. I declined both options. I did not feel it was appropriate to repierce freshly traumatized tissue after what had just happened. (This is not something a reputable piercer would ever recommend) I was also never asked for identification or taken through what I would consider a normal intake/consent process. The piercer did ultimately remove the jewelry without charging me, which I appreciate. However, that does not change the fact that I left without the service I came in for, with significant bleeding and considerable concern about the condition of my nose. I understand that facial anatomy is not perfectly symmetrical and that no piercing can be expected to be mathematically identical on both sides. That was not my complaint. The issue was that I specifically expressed concern about the markings beforehand, was reassured, and the resulting piercings were dramatically different in height and placement. I am posting this because I would have wanted to know about an experience like this before trusting a relatively new studio with facial piercings. I hope the piercer takes this experience seriously and gets additional training/experience with high nostril placement before performing this particular piercing on other clients. I would recommend Brandon at Lucky 13 in Kutztown for any specialized piercings.

I liked the outline, though it was different than what I was intending. However, when he colored it he did not add any of the detail he said would be there if we made it bigger. He styled it very differently than what I discussed with him. I was I ncredibly sheepish about the whole thing, and I do feel as though he took advantage of my lack of confidence being that I had a clear idea, which I don't think he liked, and there isn't even a hint of that idea in the tattoo at all. The fact of this is that my ideas were left out. The emotion that follows on my side is that he put a tattoo on my body that only represents him, and is foreign to me.I literally spent weeks crying over this and the past year dissociating from it because it is not what I would have ever chosen. He did tell me though that he thinks it looks finished and looks great... Ultimately I do not hate everything about this tattoo, but it very much is not mine. I would like to think there was an honest miscommunication, but looking at the time we spent discussing everything I can't see where this went wrong. I just would not trust this man again and will be very careful in choosing someone to restyle it in a few years.
