If your idea of a party is being belittled, having zero expectations and enjoy walking around up to your ankles in feces and mud then this place is for you. When the party was originally booked, I was told that no rain date would be set as they have an indoor area where they could hold a petting zoo, pony arena and dining area. The first inclination that it was going to be a disaster probably should have been when they failed to notify me that they had a huge flood 2 days before the party. I was reassured that there would be no mud where the party was being held as this was a concern for me due to some elderly guests attending the party as well as most people don't want their kids covered in mud. Only when I unexpectedly stopped by was when I was given numerous excuses and was made aware of the mess. I did consider cancelling the party because of the condition of the location, more rain was in the forecast and was weary that things would go well. I was repeatedly reassured that things will go smoothly as they have been in the business for over 30 yrs. Boy, was I fooled. I was told that on the day of the party through email that the driveway was muddy but not the actual party location. This prompted me to call Donna and Rebecca who were in charge but was told by one the employees that were not available. I asked that employee if the party area was wet and muddy and was told that it was not. At 930 my mom stopped by not trusting what we were being told only to find a large section of the party area muddy right where the guest were to walk in. Again, more excuses were given. We tried to bear with them even though we were repeatedly lied to and it was 2 1/2 before the party. We showed back up at 11 to setup as this was the time we agreed on only to find riding lessons going on where the party location was taken place. There were no tables in there as promised, it was a muddy mess and was only given attitude when questioning why this was the case. At 11:50, 10 min prior to guests arrival did they have young riders dragging soaking wet tables through the mud into the party area. Clearly this is unacceptable. At that point, I informed my guests of the conditions. Who wants to sit on a wet muddy picnic benches that looked like termites had invaded them and made their home? At this point I became frustrated that nothing was going as planned or promised. I told her that I was embarrassed to be hosting a party this way in a location of this condition and was told that I could leave. This was at noon when the party was set to start. I was shown zero respect, that it was too bad, and was snarly told that if I want the party to continue then I needed to write a check at that very moment or she wasn't moving out of my way. Confused and intimidated, I wrote her a check as my hands were tied. My catered food was there, the decorations and party supplies bought and guests had either arrived or were on their way. At that moment I realized I had been scammed. I disappointedly had to instruct some elder guests and those with infants/young children to leave as it was unsafe and unsanitary. Sadly, my nephews party was ruined. I vow that there reputation to host birthday parties will be too. I have never in my life have seen an establishment run so poorly and so unorganized. I have never been so mistreated and couldn't believe that I was actually told by the owner Donna that my expectations as a customer don't matter. Thankfully at the recommendation of my bank, the check was stopped. We are now in a civil suit. Please for the sake of your child's birthday do not have it here.

I wanted a straight-forward, well-kept, non-commercial farm, and you not only get that with Sugar Ridge, but I have also found a family with these ladies and the horses there. The grounds are gorgeous, with plenty of room to ride and options to suit each skillset. It's been amazing to learn more about these gorgeous animals, and it does a world of good just being around them. You can also tell how well-taken care of the horses are just by how affectionate they are with Carin; she does an absolutely incredible job with them and it shows. I currently board my 30 year old gelding with her. I have him on full board, and he couldn't get better care, she treats him as if he were her own. There is a heated tack room, with cable TV and a REAL bathroom. It's hard to find barns with those around here. The barn itself offers box stalls, and is in fantastic condition. There are also a few in/out stalls available. The outside is beautifully maintained. The horses all have decent sized individual paddocks, with water spouts and protection from the elements in each one. There is an outside wash stall, a large outside arena with excellent lighting. A newly renovated and large round pen. They offer full board, semi rough, and rough board. All at extremely reasonable prices. They offer clinics, cow sorting and fun shows on property, and travel to all sorts of area shows. I can't say it enough. My horse and I absolutely love it here.

She is a young kid, that left on bad terms. Terms that she made by her own actions. In the 10 years I have been at Horseshoe Farm, I have never seen any of the issues Rebel t is accusing the farm owners of doing! When I first came to the farm and for several years after, there was a young black gentleman that would come to ride a few times a week. It was only after he graduated and moved away that he left. He was very happy here! And still stops by on occasion to visit with the owners! I would not call the owners prejudice. I have never heard them say anyting badly about gay people! And they would scrutinize ANY unknown person. It's their responsibility to know of all people coming onto the property. It is not based on race, or sexual orientation! I know for a fact that rebel t's horse had issues from day one being lame. It had nothing to do with the care she received at Horseshoe Farm. She was an ex-racehorse, who had a bone chip in one of her legs. I remember quite clearly pointing out to her owner on several occasions that she was lame. And her owner just brushed it off. I know for a fact Rebel t's horse was fed every day. I find it funny how Horseshoe Farm is known as "the fat farm', and the only horses that are thin are either an older horse, or horses that just came in from another boarding situation. And as far as the owners taking hay to feed their other horses, they have over 2500 bales of hay delivered every year for their own horses, and get monthly grain deliveries! They use quality hay and grain and give it to all of the horses depending on each horses needs. I rough board my horses, which means I feed them myself. But, the owners of Horseshoe Farm still keep an eye on my horses, and they communicate with me if they feel they need more (or less) hay or grain. Being at a the boarding facility, sometimes things disappear on occasion. While I am not going to accuse any one person of stealing, several items disappeared in a couple months span witch looks very suspicious. And maybe quite coincidental that we no longer have an issue. The borders are all friendly and will borrow or loan equipment. But only after asking, or being asked. Before you take the bad review to heart, you must consider the source. A young kid made the bad review for Horseshoe Farm well after she left on bad terms. I will review horseshoe farm on my own personal experiences of the last 10+ years. The owners of horseshoe farm have always taken top-notch care of my horses! I am what is considered a rough border. I do most of the work myself. Taking care of my own horses. And I buy my own hay, grain, and shavings. I must add, that I have a barn at my house and could have my horses there. I choose to keep them at Horseshoe Farm because I know they are well cared for, the owners are on property 24/7. I can enjoy horse ownership while having responsible and knowledgeable horse people take care of my horses if needed! The owners of the barn stomp on drama quickly! The boarders at the barn know they can always go to the owners if they have a problem! And in my experiences, problems are handled quickly and completely! If you are still concerned about a bad review and are looking for answers, I would ask local veterinarians and farriers in the area how Horseshoe Farm is. And how well the horses are taken care of! From my own personal experiences, in the past 10-plus years. I would give Horseshoe Farm a "5-star", "2-thumbs up", "A++" review!
