This is the best lounge I have ever been to. It is extremely large. I hear that it gets full in not Corona virus times, but when I visited it was lovely! I took a long hot shower, had a breakfast and a lunch there and took a lovely nap in my secret napping spot. The food was very delicious and healthy. Lots of choices and I had no issues as a vegetarian finding things that I would enjoy eating. There was ample seating and you can take your food anywhere in the lounge to eat it. The upstairs part was the balcony is closed due to Corona virus. I found the free lockers for stowing bigger bags very helpful so I did not need to worry about leaving my camera gear somewhere when I went off to the bathroom. They have a fancy restaurant that isn't free, and they also have sleeping rooms that are not free. Showers and food and many of the other amenities are free. They have a virtual reality room that was closed because of coronavirus. I purposely fly through Amsterdam whenever I can so that I can visit this lounge! read more

Whoa! This completely remodeled lounge is TDF! If you happen to be stuck in the airport, go or pay to visit. The food, juices, service and comfort are two thumbs up! This newly renovated lounge just opened in October 2019 - we were there during breakfast on October 27. This lounge is so much more spacious than the previous lounge - more room to spread out, a wide variety of places to sit, and larger pathways (this makes it so much better for not only the guests, but for the KLM staff). The food has stepped up as well - there are two large food an beverage areas on the main floor of the lounge; each offers similar items and some very different items. There is one that has a scrambled egg maker (looks like a bright yellow cappuccino machine!) and a staffer makes egg cups for each person. Many topping to choose from to further customize your eggs! Lots of fresh juices and yogurts, a hot bar (meats, potatoes and soup), and many more delicious items. Self-service drinks, along with a manned-coffee machine for special coffees and teas, and a full bar. Upstairs, there is another restaurant and bar - this is a la carte and there is an additional charge beyond your membership fee. (Visited in April 2021 so I'm sure things will have changed, but even under the circumstances of COVID, KLM has done a fantastic job with the Crown Lounge 52). HUGE, huge space. Cannot be understated. I can't envision many occasions during which you wouldn't be able to find a seat/space. On top of that, the lounge has a great variety of seating. If you want to eat, relax, lounge, plane watch, take some calls or get some privacy in a booth - it has it all. (Also this was without the upstairs/skydeck not even open due to COVID) Food was great. Nothing extravagant but a lot of options both preprepared as well as from chef stations. Some nice Dutch cuisine options as well as your typical lounge fare. The design of the lounge is unbelievable. Sleek and modern, it's an open floor-plan but the different types of spaces - ie: eating, working, relaxing - all flow together seamlessly. Beautiful colors and materials and nice homages to The Netherlands and the KLM Legacy throughout. They had some "niche" lounge amenities like a VR experience, meditation room, etc. but they were closed due to COVID. Who doesn't love a good lounge. This KLM Crown Lounge is located in the international pier at Amsterdam airport, so if you're flying outside of the Schengen zone here you go. At 9:30 in the morning, a brief queue to check credentials and then inside. It is a very large lounge. Nearly all seats filled but I managed to find one and set my stuff down before heading over to grab a bite. Standard European breakfast with cold cuts and sliced cheese, some oatmeal, fresh bread, pastries, fruit, self-service liquor including spirits and wine. Reasonably well taken care of with a clean counter, plenty of flatware and lots of glasses. Coffee ready to roll too. They do not make flight announcements here, so watch your time. I get access to this lounge when I fly international business class and when I fly internationally with Delta Platinum Medallion status. This lounge is always busy. I have come first thing in the morning and right after lunch. There is always a crowd, but I usually can find an empty table or chair to sit. One thing that's nice about this lounge is if you need to talk to someone about your flight, you can do it at one of the desks. You don't need to wait in line downstairs! There is a pretty good breakfast selection with hard boiled eggs, sandwich materials and a hot item. Coffee and tea are plentiful, along with biscuits, which is a nice touch. You can also get beer and wine (and more) at any time. There are bathrooms at this lounge and the line usually isn't too long. It's nice to be able to hang out a bit before getting on a super long flight. read more

It's a nice lounge, large with modern and updated furniture along with a second floor restaurant and bar (pay). However, seating is hard to come when it gets busy. What I liked is the collection of houses as you go up the elevators. Looks great displayed like that. Food is relatively good, better than most stateside lounges. read more

Thought this one was excellent. A top on the showers, request one from the desk right when you walk in. There are digital kiosks where you can supposedly request a shower but it was not working. The shower lines are super long. Two hour wait for me. Luckily I had a three hour layover. The food, drinks, service etc are great. No complaints. Everything was excellent. They are super busy so be ready for a crowded space. Feels like staff is doing the best they can. read more

Flying out of Amsterdam, got to check out this lounge, which is a flagship one, as recently received Sky Priority status. So first off, it's 4 stars for the location- it's tucked away and a good walk to any of the gates. Also, while I loved the design - it's over multiple levels and has all these books and great amenities, it's currently (March 2019) under a bit of renovation, so for example the outdoor terrace area is inaccessible. I loved all the delftware Genever houses displayed alongside the escalator and took some photos of them. These are given out free to first & business class passengers flying KLM. Going up to the lounge, it's a self serve model - there's these steel posts, where u scan your boarding pass, and once it dings green, you are thru. There's also hosts who come over and assist you if you are encountering any issues. I found this lounge to have a very good variety of food! Really liked that there are multiple stations, and while most have the same thing, there were some variations. The one food item that really stood out for me was the excellent hummus while the hot food (chicken curry puffs & veggie pasta) was a bit of a disappointment as the puffs were stone-cold and the pasta just lacked any flavor. Amenities, especially the variety of seating arrangements as well as the spacious lockers get a big thumbs-up! Runs hot! They need to crank the AC in there a little more. I've been in 2-3 other lounges before and I gotta say they are better than this one. Although the decor and aesthetics are very nice here, it has room for improvement, in my opinion. Other lounges I've been in have outlets at all the tables and the alcohol is fully self serve, with wine, beer, hard alcohol to choose from and make your own concoctions. Perhaps it's a local law here though, which prohibits that type of set up. I didn't think there were TONS of food options either and definitely not very many grab 'n go items. I would go here again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to pay the extra fee and make it happen. read more

This place is big. But, I really liked it. There are see veral levels, but the level with the food is the best (I'm biased, because, food). The decor is chic and clean, and I really liked that they had the password on a billboard or poster thing, so you didn't have to ask for it. Free wifi is always great. To get to the club, though, you have to look for it, as it's tucked away and kind of far from most gates - this was nice, as it was a nice way to stretch my legs on the walk to the lounge. The greeters were friendly and helped me scan my boarding pass. I was able to go to the mini hotel location to take a shower (the lounge's showers were under renovation as of 12/25/2018); I appreciated that they had the relationship with the other location so that travelers could still shower. The food was good and there were a variety of options to choose from. OH - they have CURRY CHEESE. WHY DOESN'T AMERICA HAVE CURRY CHEESE? It was life-changing! I loved it and wanted to eat it forever! It does get busy, but the setup is great, so it doesn't seem so crowded. I have been in this lounge way too many times. Probably about 30 times for the past 4 years. Food wise: poor selection of hot meals (mains) but some cold cuts, aged cheese are always available. Very nice alcohol selection (pretty much a full bar). Place is clean and staff very efficient, especially booking staff. They are always willing to help you and do their best to satisfy your needs (they helped me numerous time changing flights, finding my ESTA records, re-routing me...etc). This lounge is really nothing to write home about in terms of amenities. It really just reminds me of supersized US domestic lounge. Pro's: + Seats - If you have a extended layover, grabbing a seat in much more desirable than hanging out in the terminal/shops areas. ( Thought there are some really nice seating areas in the airport now if you are able to snag a seat) +Wifi- It's free and reliable + Power outlets - easy to find, and they actually work! + Help desk - usually pretty quick and well staffed. Just don't forget to get a number to get in line. +showers - they have them Con's : + It is a large open spaced room, and at peak times it can be extremely difficult to get a seat and relax because of the noise volume + Food/ Drinks- A hotel breakfast buffet / lounge has much better options. I have been using the KLM Lounge for many years. I appreciate the excellent European food, the friendly staff and the availability of showers. The lounge was recently renovated. There are now 20 showers. Unfortunately they are small and get hot and humid quickly. They also do not provide tissue paper (which seems like a small complaint until you need it). The automated check-in system for the showers is also a bit of a pain. The new decor is great. The food is wonderful. I really do like this place. read more

I really enjoy KLM lounges the world over. That being said, the one at Schiphol is the best -for obvious reasons! The staff was super friendly and accommodating during my last trip in May of 2021 despite the COVID restrictions. After a 10 hour flight from SFO, I landed in Amsterdam and went in search of the lounge. It took me a few minutes to find it and the signage was a bit unclear, or I was just hella tired or both. The lounge is located on the 2nd level as an FYI for anyone who is looking. Same as any other lounge, you show your boarding ticket and they let you in. I also wish they gave you the wifi info when checking you in. Anyhow, I walked around the check in counter and noticed just how massive this lounge is. Seriously, it's so big! It was also quite busy, so I basically got a seat almost all the way in the back, which was fine because it was quiet there. I settled in and then went in search of the wifi info and they shared it with me, but were unclear about how I should enter my name in. I quickly got over this hurdle and was logged in. I wasn't too hungry at first so I just relaxed and surfed my phone. A bit later, I ventured around for a snack and here I was a bit disappointed. There was lots of booze, and non alcoholic beverages, but I felt the food selection was lacking overall. They had 2 soups, some bread, some biscuits/pastries, a few other things, but overall not so great IMO. Also, they didn't announce any flights. You had to get up yourself and check to see if your flight was boarding. The seats are large and comfy and there is enough space for bags and people to walk around without bumping into each other. The bathrooms were also nothing special, not as pretty as SFO. I was a bit put off as I went to wash my hands and a gentleman was in charge of cleaning them. Yes it's a lounge and better then sitting at the gate, but a few things could be better. read more

I've seen four stars for lounges with worse service and food selection than this. So, giving it a five to get the average up, as I was very happy with this lounge (and even more after realizing some of the amenities I missed). Note, I'm currently a gold member via the Delta SkyMiles program, which grants you entry into KLM partner lounges. #1: Heineken. On tap. ON FREAKIN' TAP! It was goldenly delicious, as it should be, considering Heineken is a Dutch beer, so this is about as fresh as you're going to get unless you go to the factory. Plus.. self-serve! Fun! #2: They got showers. Just going to leave this here. SHOW-ERS. Didn't use it, heavily regret that choice. #3: It's large for a lounge. I know some people didn't like that, but excuse me, who complains about space? Plenty of places to find a nice spot to settle down based on what you're feeling - a private table to eat, large bars for a quick drink, or comfy individual chairs for a private nap. There are two spots for the same type of food, so unless you're ultra lazy, you can walk over to the convenient, centrally placed food and beverage area to grab your bites before settling down. #4: Easy Wi-Fi PW. It's based on your name, when you check in with your boarding pass. Sweet! Overall, best western lounge I've been in. I've heard Eastern ones in Asia are better, but have yet to make my way there and have time for a lounge, so until then, this be my new bae. read more

Had I been able to ignore the service, I would have given this place 4 stars.. but I simply cannot! The check in desk staff while nice, the ladies at the help desks just totally sucks. They like to treat you like cattle, and the expressions of disgust, disdain, anger and 'oh-here-is-another-weirdo' show way too often on their faces! I would think KLM would invest more in professional staff and anger management. That being said, the facility is nice and airy, food is decent and so are the drinks. Each sitting place has a convenient charging point (though God save you if you need to ask one of the help desk ladies for a pin converter). The showers (if the ladies take pity on you and let you get to one), are pretty decent and clean too, no complaints there - save there is no power socket for me to plug in my hair iron! I wish they would so something to manage the unruly help desk staff and i would happily dish out the 4 stars the place deserves! read more

Wow, tough reviewer crowd. You think this lounge has occasional issues, try the Delta Club in Nashville or Los Angeles, both crappers among the fleet. We found this club to be a notch above. Yes, it's crowded a bit, but good grief is it HUGE. And the food and drink options are well beyond other like clubs I've experienced. I tend to think people just get pissy when they travel so they take it out on Yelp. So be it. Found the staff to be much more casual and relaxed than U.S. lounges. Maybe it's a European thing. So, Delta travelers from the U.S., the KLM lounge is your hangout if you have a wait. Looking forward to a return here. Welcome relief from the unusual security requirements of the rest of the airport which I personally found professional but tedious and unnecessarily time consuming. read more

The lounge here is humongous! It is even larger now with a room open towards the back of the lounge. Free wi-fi with the passcode at the front desk. The chairs are comfy and large. The self-service food and beverage area had a nice variety of breakfast items as well as coffees and alcohol. I didn't get to try some of their beers because I knew I wouldn't be able to keep my eyes open otherwise! The employees were super friendly and the restrooms were clean. This lounge sums up KLM as a whole. Tries to be something great, but is ruined by poor service and not high quality products on offer. To start with there is a set of dragons on the "welcome" desk, who do their utmost best to ensure you feel worthless for wanting to use their lounge. Then there's the "service" agents whose job is supposedly to assist passengers with bookings, but every time treat you with disdain and act like you are inconveniencing them by asking for something to do with your flight. There's very little food offered other than light meats and cheese, a soup and other snack bites. No decent meals or sandwiches at least. The good side, plenty of drinks, ranging from a variety of serve yourselves coffees and lattes etc to a fair selection of spirits, wine and a beer. If you enter after 9 am you're lucky to find a newspaper to read, but at least there is wi-fi and a number of computers for accessing the internet if need be. Although there are two sets or toilets in the lounge, they are nearly always so busy there's a line up to use (certainly in the Gents anyways). For a lounge of this size they need more facilities if they are to cater to as many guests as it can hold. Overall, if you qualify to use it, as it's free it's better than having to pay for overpriced food and drink in the terminal, but otherwise it's not as great as KLM make it out to be. read more

I think this is the first place I've ever been in an airport where I, 1) wish my flight had been delayed so I could hang out longer, 2) took a shower and 3) would happily raise my children! I suppose I probably just haven't traveled to enough lounges to know what good is if the average rating here is only three and a half stars. This place is seriously awesome! The multiple bars with beverage and food served throughout the day, more lounge chairs and desks than some college libraries, and, drum roll, showers. Again, this may not be a huge deal to some people, but to a simple folk from the Midwest, being able to take a legit shower in an airport is akin to finding a pot of gold. Seriously, there's almost nothing better than being able to wash the funk off in between sipping a latte and and Irish coffee. There were a great number of desks with computers connected to the Internet that allowed for plenty of work to be finished, as well as the updating of facebook status. The bars were well stocked, there were plenty of riddles for nibbling on and the coffee machines were just great. If you frequent lounges, you should definitely frequent this one. If you don't frequent lounges, this may be the only one you ever need to go to. Going to this lounge is your first is like sitting in a press box for your first sporting event. It won't get better and I will leave you wanting for nothing. Absolutely go here if you have the opportunity! read more

This is an update/addition to a previous review. Though the basic setup of the lounge hasn't changed, all the furniture has been replaced. It was a bit overdue. The tones of the upholstery are very earthy and easy on the eyes. The most visible addition is the circular smoking area. It looks quite nice and almost makes you want to light one up even if you don't smoke. There were about ten people in the smoking area so not filled to capacity or even busy, but the air ventilation system is rathe good. When looking through the glass from the non smoking part, the air looks clear; almost as if no one was actually smoking. I stepped inside for a second and though I noticed the smoke, I wasn't grabbed by the suffocating fumes of other designated smoking areas. Best thing about the smoking room is that sitting right next to it, you don't smell any smoke!! I think, even as a non smoker, the smoking room will please plenty of people. As well as the super silent ventilation will please non smokers! read more

I had a several hour layover after a redeye from Cape Town (I'd thought I might venture out to Amsterdam for a bit when I booked the flight, but then decided against it). I've been to lots of airline lounges, and kinda think they are all a bit overrated, but usually they are at least a little quieter and more comfortable than the gate waiting areas. But I'll admit this one was on the higher end of the standard. Though the size did kinda negate the 'exclusive' feel you get in smaller lounges. I arrived fairly early in the morning, and when I walked into the lounge it seemed cavernous... by the time I left in the afternoon it had become a busy hub of activity, yet still more calm and quiet than the actual terminal. With a long flight from South Africa behind me and a long flight back to Toronto ahead, I took advantage of the shower option. The showers were very clean (a housekeeper kept busy cleaning between each guest) and had a modern decor, stocked with the basic amenities needed not already found in your business class amenity kit. Anyway, It was refreshing and allowed me to feel more civilized, than the (quite literally) unwashed masses outside the lounge doors! I'd recommend requesting a shower as soon as you arrive... the wait time can get long during the busier periods. The staff were all extremely helpful, though with the large number of guests they were kept quite busy. There was a standard spread of snacks and drinks, nothing extravagant but all that you need if you are feeling a bit peckish (If you are a sad American like myself there is a Starbucks nearby). One thing I noticed was that there wasn't anywhere to put trash... I noticed this when I had wiped up some tea I spilled. This is probably because the staff worked hard to make sure they picked up clutter and rubbish, but a self serve option would have been nice too. There was ample comfortable seating, and a decent number of work stations if you need to get anything accomplished on your laptop. Fun side story about laptops; when I was little I thought it was called LABtop... cus I thought scientists in their labs were the main users. My only complaint was the smoking area... I'm not a fan of smoking, and have a very sensitive response to its smell. Though the smoking section is separated, if you are near it you know it. I'd recommend they just do away with it, but I know that's a personal preference. Overall, I was pleased with this lounge and thankful for the quality faculties to use. How many times do you show your passport to get into this lounge? I was here via a reciprocity agreement with Delta and felt like a second class citizen. This was my second visit here and I was determined to get in as the last visit was a bust---the lounge was overly full. Delta has agreements with Virgin Atlantic and AeroMexico and those lounges are really nice as are their people. Not so, with KLM! Grumpy, former United-like employees, lines, very little food and nearly no place to sit was my experience after walking a really long way from the Delta gates. My advice, if you are stuck in the Schiphol Airport for an extended period of time, the Starbucks or Burger King are a better call. Free wifi and a place to charge were the positives! read more

I happen to travel a lot for work so I do spend quite a bit of time in lounges here and there. This lounge fits it's purpose, and it offers all things you need to kill the time before your flight. That being said the range of food and drinks offered is very limited. Beer wise only Heineken is offered. They normally have some warm food in the form of a soup or some mushy pasta. If you are really hungry it won't cut it, so I highly advise you buy a sandwich somewhere. however if all you are after is a quick coffee and a less crowed place to wait until your have to board your flight, this place is perfect for that. read more

There are two KLM Crown Lounges to be found in AMS -- I'm not sure which one I prefer, this one by Gate 52 or the other near Gate 25. I would guess that this one is the larger of the two. It's super nice if you have Gold or above SkyTeam status, you can chill for a bit here. This location has showers as well as 25, but I didn't use at this location - -so I can't comment there. This location is literally swarming with people!! You can find a seat, but you will have to look around a bit. I generally just look these locations for: the free WiFi have a glass of champagne (or 2) before flight a few snackies pre-flight charge up my mobile devices pre-flight "cleaner" and less busy bathrooms Food-wise there wasn't anything terribly exciting... I just went with some cheese, crackers, and some pasta (which was alright). read more

I heard so many great things about the KLM Lounge in Amsterdam and was really looking forward to it prior to my flight back to Portland on Delta. I was expecting an experience you get in Delta Sky Clubs (Portland and Salt Lake are both excellent). In contrast the KLM lounge put into practice how you might imagine Burger King would do a breakfast buffet. Small, semi-warm, omelets, or at least that is what they said. Empty fruit bowls, long lines to use the ridiculously slow coffee machines (and one that was broken) and another person making to order coffee drinks that would never make it in Starbucks because he was painfully slow. On the up side, the staff worked very hard to keep plates picked up and the floors clean although they could do a better job keeping the bathrooms up to snuff (out of soap, garbage full and nearly out of paper towels). In short, my expectations were probably too high when compared to Delta but don't expect much from KLM because like me, you will be disappointed. read more

Over crowded and over used. Very little breakfast options. In some cases you had to go to two separate ends of the lounge to make a complete sandwich. Maybe half of the outlets work to charge or use your computer. I didn't find any that worked at all. They didn't want to give me the wifi password because they said they have given it out to too many people already. (it was only 8 am) I had to wait for an empty seat to open up finally after about 15 minutes of searching. The best part about the lounge was only the workers who were trying to keep the over crowded place clean and not chaotic. Very polite and friendly. read more

In general, I think airline lounges are overhyped and underwhelming, and my first impression of the KLM Crown Lounge did nothing to revise that opinion. This is easily the largest lounge I've been in. It must seat at least 500 people, and, let's face it, it's difficult to feel like you're getting an exclusive benefit when it's you and 500 other weary travelers waiting for a connection. That just feels like a transit lounge, and few things are more depressing. However, as transit lounges go, this is downright posh. As airline lounges go, it isn't bad either. Plentiful and varied food. Decent coffee and wine. Comfortable, well-maintained surroundings with plenty of charging ports. Sounds like a 3-star review, right? Well, that's before I decided to take a chance on the showers. And it WAS taking a risk, too. When you're in a transit lounge with 500 of your closest friends from around the world, the last thing you think of with joyful expectation is anything bathroom-related. And when it turned out that I had to get a reservation number, and my number was 53, and they were currently on number 20? Yeah, when my number came up an hour later, I thought of those 33 other people taking showers, and nearly didn't go. Oh boy, am I glad I did. Because that shower was EVERYTHING you want in a Dutch bathroom. It was all white tile and blond wood and it was SQUEAKY CLEAN and it was ALL MINE. Honestly, you could smell the clean. And suddenly the number system made sense because there was a shower attendant who cleaned every one of those private showers between uses. The shower was roomy with a rainfall showerhead; the water pressure was great, and the water was steamy hot. All that, a sink and a generous towel. IT. WAS. HEAVEN. And let me tell you, I made the most of it. I lingered. I scrubbed. I lathered and luxuriated. I steamed myself like a Christmas pudding. I toweled off. I brushed my teeth and put on fresh clothes. I used the blow dryer. On my beard. Do you hear me, Yelp?! I gave my beard a blowout in the KLM Crown Lounge!! I'm right now walking around dead sexy, as men and women swoon over my luxurious Farrah-Fawcett-esque facial hair, and this is because that shower was just that good. And so, world traveler, fear not the shower at the KLM Crown Lounge. Get that reservation number. And enjoy! read more

Despite Skyteam members are required to honor access of Skyteam Elite Plus members, she has presented this frugality story that how Delta isn't paying them etc. Dutch frugality I guess, but not hard to understand why KLM isn't winning in this age of customer experience based competition. read more
