They don't seem to have their act together at all. Record-keeping seems shoddy, they do not follow up on emails, etc.

Everyone I've interacted with has been professional, friendly, and genuinely helpful. They take their time to answer questions clearly and never make you feel like an inconvenience. The team is very responsive and communicative, which makes a big difference. Whether it's emails, calls, or maintenance request, they follow through and keep you informed throughout the process. It's clear the staff is knowledgeable and actually cares about doing their job. It's refreshing to work with a property management company where the people truly make the experience positive. I would like to confidently recommend to anyone looking for a reliable, professional, and respectful property management team to look at Nova Property Management.

Honest Review of Nova Property Management (Anchorage, AK)…read more I've lived here for about four months, and I want to share an honest and fair experience. Communication with the Nova office can be very difficult -- phone calls often go unanswered or you're kept on hold with no response. Some staff members, like Christopher, have been dismissive and difficult to work with. When I reported serious maintenance and safety issues, I felt ignored or spoken to in a way that was unprofessional and lacking empathy. However, the reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 1 is because of Sally. If you ever need help from Nova, ask specifically for Sally. She is professional, respectful, and gets things done. She listens, follows through, and treats tenants like real people. If it weren't for her, I would have given this place half a star and advised others to stay away. Sally is the only person who made me feel heard and supported. She made sure repairs were completed and showed true care for tenants -- and that deserves recognition. I genuinely hope Nova understands how valuable she is to their company. In summary: Communication with management needs improvement Some staff, like Christopher (the property manager) , are dismissive and not tenant-focused Sally is the reason I stayed and the reason this review is 4 stars, not 1 Thank you, Sally -- you are the difference.

Her response: "We don't do that here, I'll wait until you drop off the keys then do a walk through on my own." I did the walk-through with a different individual upon moving into these apartments. These apartments off of Laurel Street/Happy Lane are rotting. Vagrants sleep in the laundry room. Laundry machines are coin-operated, and don't work - don't waste your money. Abandoned vehicles end up in the parking lot all the time, which in turn attracts the wrong kind of attention (especially in this location). Location is a hub for vagrants to play, as Campbell Creek is right at our backyard - frequently, homeless camps pop up behind the dumpster. Vagrants have taken over this area, and walks on Campbell Creek have been discontinued due to the erratic behavior of the homeless. There is trash everywhere. Used tampons and empty cups litter the parking lot and lawn areas. Lawns aren't maintained. The building keys were changed overnight and there wasn't any notice about it - so after taking out the trash mid-morning in late fall, I couldn't get back into my own apartment and was locked out. When the locks were finally changed over 2 days later, the new locks to the doors are the cheapest, shittiest locks; due to the cheap locksmith's inability to install them correctly, the door frequently jams as well. During the initial few months of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ilene Morin goes through the parking lot and writes down everyone's tag information. If tags were expired on your vehicle, she gave you a notice that your car would be towed if not taken care of. Further, you better purchase a shovel! Numerous notes have been given to all members of the complex during the winter. If the area around your vehicle hasn't been maintained/shoveled, your vehicle will be towed. If your vehicle "looks like it obviously haven't been moved from its spot within 3 days" she will have your vehicle towed. Temperature doesn't work inside apartments. On a warm-ish day during the summer, be prepared to have 3-4 fans running all day. The heat is unrelenting and there is no relief. Water damage throughout. Overall... these are cheap, not very well maintained apartment complexes. Managers/owners are SLUMDOGS, and as said before - Ilene Morin REFUSES to have a final walk through upon me vacating the apartment. If they want to take the deposit that bad, might as well just say it. It's shady and dishonorable on their part, but hey - whatever they need to make a few bucks, right? You will be the one to suffer if you choose to live here.

Paragon Properties - Nice new floors at our move-in

    Paragon Properties

Recently moved into a Paragon property after scouring Anchorage for something clean, safe,…read moreaffordable and well maintained. Paragon's property in UMed was the only property that we found available during our time period that met our parameters. In other instances, many other property managers were very difficult to connect with to actually see the apartment. Our manager was extremely responsive and went out of her way to ensure that the process went smoothly. Our previous managers were a nightmare, and difficult to reach- Paragon worked with us until we sorted out all the required boxes had been ticked. They are definitely careful about who they accept as tennants and won't let anything slide. The result is our new residence is quiet, our neighbors are practically invisible... it's like heaven. The building, side walks and parking lot are maintained, even when there's 3 feet if snow. Their app for payment is a breeze, and it'd easy to reach them via email OR if you call them, they actually answer the phone. Trust me, this is not the norm in this town! After my recent move, I've learned that many landlords are using 3rd parties and things go right to voice mail. The apartments are small, but they have nice touches like marble sinks, granite counters and new flooring. Paragon does have high expectations for their tennants- no pets (not even fish), quiet time starts at 8, no smoking, there is no extra parking. Basically anything to damage the apartments or disturb other tennants is not tolerated. But when you're old and grumpy like us, this is just what we wanted. Peace. FINALLY. _____ I would also like to comment on the other reviewers concerns concerning the nit-picking affecting their deposit. My husband spent the last decade as an apartment manager and repairman- so this is an area I am all-too familiar with. Smart owners and managers place your deposit in an account specifically for capital repairs. It's my observation in the time I've been here, that's what Paragon appears to be doing- which is good business. It ensures the property doesn't deteriorate. They are under no obligation to return your deposit since in all likelihood damages WILL occur, no matter how careful you are. Tennants should not expect their return back- if you get something back, you're lucky. Landlords spend hours, often days, addressing repairs after a move-out- no matter how careful or clean you were. At the Paragon apartment I just moved into, I watched their repairman spend 3 weeks making an apartment ready for a new tennant. That's a lot of hours of labor and supplies. Do the math- that adds up to more than your deposit. Granted that's not always the case, but I can't tell you from my husband's experiences as a landlord, this is very common. As a tennant there are a lot of things that go on to capital repairs and maintenance that tennants don't think about. Its the freedom of being a tennantand not a homeowner. (Does your roof NOT leak? Do you NOT have mold, mice, roaches? Do the washers work? Do the dumpster get emptied? Do you have hot water and heat? Snow removal happening? - All of this stuff happens because your landlord is doing their job behind the scenes.) So take that what for what it's worth and think twice about complaining about not getting your deposit back.

Our family is so pleased with our new home in Eagle River, Alaska. My husband and I grew up in this little town but moved away after high school. We are excited to return here again with our children to begin a new adventure in this beautiful house. We were actually living outside of the U.S. in Estonia when we found out we were moving back "home". We weren't even sure if we'd be able to purchase a home without physically being in the country. But Rowena and Erika made it happen for us viewing lots and lots of homes for us. Being in a different time zone was a challenge but Rowena and Erika were always quick to respond to us via email and WhatsApp. It was a pleasure to work with such a knowledgeable and professional team. We are forever grateful to Rowena, Erika and team for helping us purchase the perfect house for our family.

The biggest issue was the pet policy. We were initially told that cats were allowed, but when we later tried to confirm and move forward, we were told otherwise. This contradiction created unnecessary stress and made planning extremely difficult. I strongly recommend getting everything in writing and not relying on verbal confirmations. As someone in the military, stability and clear communication are especially important when it comes to housing. Unfortunately, that consistency wasn't there, which made the situation more difficult than it needed to be. Toward the end of the lease, we received a non-renewal notice without any explanation, despite following the lease terms. While they may not be required to give a reason, the lack of transparency reflects poorly on how tenant relationships are handled. Move-out expectations are very strict, including mandatory professional carpet cleaning and specific vendor restrictions, which can add unexpected costs if you're not fully prepared. The property itself was okay, but the overall experience with management was disappointing. Between the inconsistent policies and communication issues, I would be cautious about renting through them and would advise future tenants to document everything carefully.

I contacted her during COVID, months before I moved to Alaska. She answered me within an hour and after that, she kept in touch for months as I got ready to move. She spent a lot of time getting to know what I wanted. I arrived in the summer when the market was booming. Every agent in town was super busy, Leslie included. I knew that was happening and I had lowered my expectations. I was ready to do a lot of my own research and driving around. But Leslie had me seeing places the first weekend in town! She did a FANTASTIC job showing me places I might like. She never schmoozed me. She never tried to upsell me. Once we ran into another agent while seeing a place and he was a super schmoozy, slick kind of guy and it made me all the more grateful for Leslie's approach. When she showed me my place she said she thought I was going to like it--and sure enough, I loved it, and now it's mine. :) She knew exactly what I would love. The neighborhood, the price, the style, all of it. She remembered every little detail (for example--I wasn't interested in a townhouse or condo that didn't allow dogs). She walked me through the offer, counter-offers, loan, inspection, and more. She helped me get an early-occupy deal which I *really* wanted. When our first title company got delayed she found a new one! She didn't have to do that--it wasn't her fault the market was backed up. She would answer my texts at 10pm on Friday night, 9am Saturday, and everything in between. She knows a ton of people in Anchorage and she knows the town well. I hope to buy another place in a year or two and I wouldn't even consider using another agent!
