Oberschleissheim is as unlikely place as can be to find one of the most wonderful castles in…read moreBavaria: on the S-Bahn line S1 to the airport, it is an ugly suburb of Munich and you have to follow the signs from the station for about 25 minutes before that changes, and you enter the 'old castle'. Not that it really looks like a castle, more like a square shaped farm - but a very large one then. On your left, you can glimpse the 'new' castle, dating to the 1st quarter of the 18th century and built in the style of Versailles with large symmetric gardens behind it. Both old and new castle house museums. And the old one also houses in a lost corner - or so it seems - this typical pub. A nice beergarden in good weather - a bit too busy on weekends with the usual fare, but of good quality.
