I found their internet coupon and spoke to them on the phone to confirm the true cost. They charged me exactly as quoted on the phone including the certificate fee -$49 for a 2003 V8, no appointment needed. They also would have re-tested for free had the car not passed. Their service was quick with just one person ahead of me. They have a pleasant waiting area. Their adept and kind office manager was great. She had the paperwork done as soon as the testing was complete. I especially liked that the mechanic was paying attention to what was happening around him even while he monitored testing - neither I nor the office manager had to tell him where my car was parked - he had noticed when I walked in, picked up the my key from the clipboard and went directly to it. It was intermittently sprinkling while I was there and the mechanic pulled the car under the carport so I would not get wet when it was ready. They don't take appointments so I called ahead first thing in the morning, and went right over when Joe said no one else was there yet. Of course there was no guarantee that someone wouldn't show up before I arrived 5 minutes later, but I was lucky. With that, the Smog Check was complete in about 15 minutes. I highly recommend coming here if you need a smog check! This guy is straightforward and tells you what he thinks, but he's super friendly. I bought a car not long ago and needed a smog - turns out it's a lemon. Jim looked at it after it failed the smog, laughed (you gotta deal with his honesty), but explained to me why it failed and had some good suggestions what my options were. Confronted him about it and how he was going to handle it and he verbally assaulted me with racial remarks and physically shoved me and told me to leave. I got a refund, however the attack and unaccountability on the mechanics part are inexcusable. Do not go here! read more

Took my Mazda for a smog test. While waiting I noticed 3 people coming back for retesting. For the first time ever my car failed the smog test due to a timing issue. I've been bringing cars to KM for the past 10 years, and there's no better place to get in and get out with your smog certificate. The old couch is gone, replaced by new chairs, a little kids play area and a magazine rack with current mags. Right next to 7-11 for easy access to treats. Great basic fast service. Show the coupon from the company website. Compared to average cost at other smog check stations, it's about $20 less expensive. Nice straight forward guy working there. Just had a terrible experience. Avoid this place at all costs. I arrived at 8:30 am because they supposedly open at 8:00 am. I had even called the day before and they told me the best time to go was at 8:00 because it is the least busy. When I got there today I was surprised that they were closed. A few minutes later a guy in a Harley arrives and looks at me as if I was in his way. I ask him if he was the owner and he said rudely that he just worked there. I asked him if they actually open at 8 and he said they did but that he lives far away and there is traffic so he usually gets there late. I asked him why don't they just say that when you call and he started getting defensive and aggressive to the point that he insulted me and actually physically threatened me when I told him he should wake up earlier if he knew he had to open at 8. He obviously did not like me saying that and went berserk. read more
