They don't make appointments but said if I came on Friday at noon, there would be a minimal wait. So I showed up Friday at noon and it was an hour wait. I went across the street to do some shopping and they took my phone number down to let me know when my car was finished. I mentioned that I forgot to take with me the $10 coupon that I printed from their website. The young man said not to worry that he would take care of it and make sure that I get the discount. I was called as promised, and it was about an hour and my smog was done. However, I was charged full price. I didn't mention or remind the gentleman about applying the discount, because I forgot about it until after I gave my credit card. WARNING - Do not go to this Star Station Smog Check in Poway. I went multiple times before and never had any issue. This last time in April 2025, the tech charged my wife twice for a smog check. I tried to dispute the 2nd charge but it was denied, probably because the duplicate charge was for a slightly different amount. These guys are scammers. I've gotten my smog check here for a few years, and they're always quick to answer any calls. If you come in the mornings, the line is pretty short and has a manageable wait time. Recently, G was friendly and helpful with the process. They can also give you a call when your car is done if you want to drop off. Check in on Yelp for a discount! But what I did not expect was to be told that it would be double the price advertised in their coupon ($79.95 plus the $8.25 certificate fee). I was surprised and asked, "Wow, so it's double the price?" The employee was a young kid who smugly answered, "You don't have to take it here." So I thanked him, left, and found Apex Smog in Escondido at 1602 E Valley Parkway. Apex Smog is a Star Test Only Station that charges $29.75 for 2000 and newer cars (just $10 more for Trucks, SUV, and Vans) plus the certificate for $8.25.
