We were fortunate a few years ago to pick up a small cottage in Carmel. We realized in order to…read moremake this something that we could potentially retire to we would need to expand it a little and for that needed an architect or draftsman that could design something that was sympathetic to the existing structure, the cottage is pretty funky being built in the 30's and remodeled by no other than Hugh Comstock 10 years later so is bursting to charm and quirks. It's funny how these things happen but the whole addition started with a comment from wifey saying 'if we retired here, where would I put my cookbooks' ?... So I designed this elaborate master bedroom with a breezeway from the main house in my head which had a library running down the inside and Windows on the opposite wall. So fast forward, this is exactly what we did and now we had to design a bookcase that was in keeping with the existing house. We have a very quirky shelving unit in the dining nook and used that as inspirations so we're pretty belligerent to match its rustic style and have fixed shelves as to keep with the age and integrity of the house. I even went as far as designing it including all the dimensions and out it out to bid. This firm were not the cheapest nor the most expensive but also seemed to have the right idea of what we were looking for in the finished product. When I saw it installed and painted, I could not be happier. Thank you so much for understanding and executing the brief and I hope others find you and enjoy the fruits as much as we doing invariably will.

They worked closely with us to achieve the exact color of stain we wanted for our red oak cabinets and had excellent suggestions for how to make kitchen more functional, as well as more beautiful. Our kitchen is definitely now a work of art! I would highly recommend Dickinson Cabinetry to anyone who would like to have beautiful cabinets built by an outstanding organization that truly cares about the quality of their work. Thank you Mike and Shelly and the fabulous craftsmen for making our dream for the kitchen come true.

5 stars in every way. Long read, here is a detailed review…read more We contacted Mike in mid 2021 for a major job. Very large kitchen in a historic San Francisco home. This was not a $20k or 30k job - it was much bigger. So we had to be absolutely sure of the craftsmanship, the customer service, and more. It had to be fully custom and absolutely world class quality to fit the quality of the home and kitchen remodel. Summary - they delivered beyond my absurdly high expectations. From the very start, my designer had a good feeling about Mike - he was very upfront and transparent, and his whole team was full of nice people. Shelly is very responsive and helpful even with the basic things - you can tell right away they care a lot about attention to detail and to customer service. We hired Mike over 5 others we considered, and he was the most expensive bid actually (not by too much, by about 5% more than the 2nd highest and about 10% more than the lowest). Hiring Dickinson Cabinetry proved to be one of the very best decisions we made in our 1 year long remodel. In the middle of supply chain issues and Covid, Mike was always honest about the timeline. It was a bit longer than I would have liked but that was no fault of Mike's - everything was delayed. But Mike was honest and helpful and level headed about it all. Then came the product and install date. Mike's team, led by Raul, came by for delivery right on time in the morning and let me just tell you - the QUALITY of these cabinets and the wood island is absolutely obvious. The craftsmanship is superb. If you know nothing about cabinets, even then it's obvious. That's the great thing about great things - everyone can tell it's great! Now here is where it starts to get really amazing. We had a few issues and changes requested. Joe was the man here - he was super helpful along with being such a nice guy. He never got annoyed at my small requests and it was clear Joe & Mike wanted my family to be 110% happy. Antonio came by to do touch up work and is a very patient and talented guy. He must have come back 4 times - each time with a smile on his face and endless patience to get it perfect as I wanted it. Antonio did a great job fixing up every little nook and cranny I needed help with - just an awesome job. Some other cabinet makers might make nice cabinets. The Hyatt has nice hotel rooms, too. Mike, Joe, Antonio, Raul, Shelly - they are like the Four Seasons. Every little detail is world class. I have enjoyed every conversation I have had with every member of this team because everyone is just so nice and customer focused and patient. Along with the cabinets being a work of art themselves oozing with quality. If you are considering Dickinson Cabinetry, my strong opinion is you would be making a big mistake if you picked another cabinet maker. Thank you so much Mike, Joe, Antonio, Raul, Shelly!

We ordered our kitchen cabinets from Cypress after working with Fred. When they arrived, we…read morerealized the interiors were white melamine rather than the natural maple color we ordered. After trying to gaslight me by saying that white interiors are standard for white cabinets and "that is what I had liked", I pointed out that the signed contract clearly stated that the interiors were supposed to be maple. Cypress finally did admit they made an error and reordered the cabinets, but it took another 3 months or more for them to arrive, which totally screwed up our home remodel timeline. Once the new cabinets arrived, we discovered 2 of them were damaged and had to be remade a second time, again delaying our project. Really the worst part of this terrible experience was that although Cypress did pay for the dismantling of the wrong cabinets and the reinstall of the correct ones by our builder, they denied that their error caused us any delay or inconvenience and refused to even consider our very reasonable request for a 15% discount on the cabinets. They also repeatedly did not return my or my builder's calls during this whole debacle. I would NEVER recommend using them.

Guido is an experienced, creative designer with excellent taste who thinks outside the box. He went with me to pick my stone and backslash even offering to drive me to the Bay area for more choices. Victoria did all the 3D plans in order that my non-3 demential brain could see exactly what the space would look like, as well as the plans to submit for a permit. Guido and Victoria helped me pick and buy appliances, which is not easy these days. Every detail was handled including buying hardware. They even purchased for me so I got discounts.
